the more I read about the events going on and people's views about syrian refugees and muslims, the more disgusted I get and feel about this country. are you people so blind and ignorant to see how you are acting no different than hilter and the third reich? saying things like "some mosques should be shut down" or "there should be a registry for muslims" and comparing syrian refugees to a dog with rabies and saying that the situation in regards to their resettlement is as serious as when the us had to send japanese americans to internment camps. need i mention how much the government had to pay those citizens to compensate for their wrong doing? the most ironic thing was my sister showing me this meme, saying how thanksgiving was when the native americans welcomed the pilgrims, who are now americans, to this land. ironic that all of you who are against these immigrants fail to realize you too are immigrants if you don't have any native blood in you. just because you've been here for more generations it suddenly doesn't matter? I don't see you guys discriminating all christians for things the kkk do. so why discriminate all these refugees and middle eastern citizens? i have never felt so disgusted and so ashamed to be an american. what is our country becoming? how isn't that children and young adults can easily see how wrong this prejudice is, yet the older adults who are trying to rule our country are so ignorant?

growing up, we’ve always been taught that goodness will prevail. that hate, fear, and ignorance always result in bad things. but lately, the only thing the news seems to be instilling are more and more negative emotions. the media is using its power to manipulate people and create fear of muslims. and the sad part is, people are so scared, they’re willing to put all senses aside to quickly find someone to project their anger towards. what good has racism, prejudice, bigotry, and hatred ever done? how do you think hilter, a man responsible for one of the biggest genocides in history, was able to gain his followers? through the manipulation of people’s negative emotions and their desperation to find a scapegoat. blaming a whole group of people, majority of which are innocent, is not going to solve anything. it's appalling to see how even today, such ignorant people can still holding influential positions.
