A/N : Inspired by the song Perfect - Ed Sheeran
We are on a hill that overlooks the city. The car is parked a few steps behind us. The sound of a seemingly distant sweet and gentle melody comes out of the radio and rocks us. It resonates further down the hill as the wind spreads the notes. All while we are admiring the landscape.
It is simply gorgeous, magnificent, breathtaking. Above us, the sky is a marvelous and luminous dark blue. Stars are scattered here and there. In front of us, the buildings stretch as far as the eye can see and become our horizon. Some houses are lit by an intense bulb. While our light comes from the stars and the fibril street lamp a few meters behind us. It tries, in vain, to illuminate the hill.
We are in our bubble, in our world. I am in his arms, he is in mine. Thinking about nothing, heads empty, just savoring the otherās presence.
His arms around my shoulders, his head tilted, his mouth next to my ear, kissing it, he whispers the lyrics to the song that is playing.
My arms are around his waist, holding him tenderly. I tighten them, trying to communicate my feelings through this embrace. I nest my head in his neck and delicately lay a kiss on the surface of his skin I can reach. His perfume fills my nostrils and becomes my oxygen.
The humid grass brushes and tickles our naked feet, while we start to dance carried by the music. One step to the left, one to the right. We swing at a steady pace as we get closer and closer, inexorably attracted to each other, like magnets.
A star shoots at an impressive speed across the sky. Seeing it, closing our eyes, we wish this fleeting precious moment apart from the world can be endless.
Recipe found on this Youtube short but you can find others on Internet.
Recipe (according to the video)
Ingredients
75g of glutinous rice flour
2 tbsp of sugar
100 ml of water
mango (of course)
Steps
Cut your mango.
In a bowl mix evenly the flour, the sugar and the water. ā You will have a liquid mixture.
Microwave the mixture for one minute, then stir. Repeat this 2 other times. Your mixture has been microwaved 3 minutes and stirred 3 times. Let the dough cool down slightly. ā After each time in the microwave, the mixture will become more and more a dough.
Add rice flour to a cutting board. Put the dough on it. Cover it with flour. Roll it down thinly. Place the mango (cut previously) at the center. Fold gently.
Things I did differently from the recipe
I put 1 tbsp of sugar.
And I microwaved it differently : 1 min then 45 sec then 50 sec.
Unlike in the video, I didnāt pet-dry the mango and it worked perfectly.
Opinion
It was very tasty ! My mom loved it. When you take a bite, the juice of the mango spreads on your tastebuds and the stretchy dough adds texture to the dessert.
How I would upgrade it / Commentary
Choose a medium blow to mix the ingredients for the dough, itās a disaster to clean.
Find a sweet and juicy mango. Cut it however you like, I think the best shapes are round or square. You can use a half directly like in the video, youāll have a giant mochi. Or you can cut the mango into smaller pieces. Thatās what I did.
Try to put 2 tbsp of sugar. I did my dough with a bit less than 1 tbsp of sugar and the mochi wasnāt sweet enough. (the mango was sweet but the dough isn't so it's unbalanced)
I didnāt respect the microwavable time and it worked well. Maybe itās because my microwave is different but try to microwave less than indicated. I tried to microwave 3 minutes, but I thought the dough was too hard to eat (kind of like a chewing gum texture). I prefer it more stretchy. Adapt the time to your liking.
What to do with the dough : you can keep it as a whole if you make a giant mochi. Or cut it into smaller pieces for smaller mochi. For example, first I cut half a mango into 4 pieces but I recut them to fit into 6 mochi. Adapt to your mango and your dough.
When you roll the dough : roll the dough thinly (I would say 3 millimetres more or less). If itās too thin, it breaks once you put the mango in it. If itās too thick, thereāll be too much dough when you eat it.
How to roll the dough : I would advise you to have a thicker center than edges. Said differently, the edges are thinner than the center. This way, when you put your mango inside, itāll be easier to fold. Moreover, when you take a bite, you wonāt have a mountain of dough and no mango.
Folding the mango in it is really difficult. My mochi arenāt perfect but I had fun doing them and even more fun eating them !
(if you recreate, tell me ! I'd really like to see how you did it)
Here's the result ^-^ (they're ugly but I love them)
Synopsis : We once were together, kind of. But there's nothing left. My "goodbye forever" letter.

A/N : Inspired by the song Cinnamon Girl ā Lana del Rey and by the argument between Laurie and Jo (just a sentence) in Little Women (2019ās film adaptation) -> Careful if you click on the link, you might be spoiled
I was at a bakery today. I was trying to decide which pastry I should buy when a cinnamon roll caught my eye. The light brown delicacy was as big as my fist and the sugar icing was dripping from the sides. The ground cinnamon on top shined like glitters under the artificial lights of the place.
I couldnāt help but be reminded of you, of your cinnamon chapstick and its taste on my teeth after your kisses. And when I thought this feeling of nostalgia couldnāt get deeper in my throat, I heard your laughter.
I first thought I was imagining it but I think I might be hated by the gods above. Because when I turned my head towards the sound, I saw you. You just walked in. You were glowing. You looked sun-kissed even though it was raining all week.
You didnāt notice me. Or if you did, you acted like you didnāt. You were smiling. Your cheekbones have never been this high, the dimples in your cheek were deeper than ever and your eyes were surrounded by friendly lines. You were looking at him like he was your entire world, like I once was.
While your eyes were filled with hearts, mine were filled with tears. My mind was flooded with memories of you. Of the softness of your skin, the heat of your body, the plumpness of your lips against mine.
I had to get out of here. So I ran, like always. I kept my head low as I was heading toward the door. Did you hear the bell ring when I exited the place ?
Back at home, I mechanically pulled paper and a pen out of my deskās drawer. Now Iām writing you this letter. I know that you will never read it. I will never send it. I just have to write down my feelings. Thereās things I want to say to you but Iāll just let you live.
Do you remember how we met ? I do. It is as clear as the sky on this day. I was in the park, reading, when you asked me the name of my book. Surprised, I answered hesitantly. We started talking like we hadnāt just met. I saw your gaze drop to my lips frequently, and I did the same. I ended up in your house, in your arms and thatās how my most wonderful nightmare started.
Through rose-colored glasses, we spend night after night together. Soon these sleepless times became morning, then lunch. And without noticing, I spent all my free time with you, in the cocoon that was your house.
Do you remember this one night, when we talked about my past ? I told you that if you hold me without hurting me, youāll be the first who ever did. This night, you promised me youāll never hurt me and I heard by the delicacy of your kiss on my head that you only wanted to love me.
Until this perfect little glass that separated us from the outside world shattered. You wanted more and too quickly. You wanted to call me yours, to scream it to the world. I wasnāt ready, I couldnāt put a label on us. Did we absolutely have to put a name on us ? I regret these times, when everything was perfect and simple.
What do you remember most about you and me ? I bet that at the top of all those memories, thereās this dreadful day, our last argument, our last conversation and your last words to me. I remember them too, very well. You told me, word for word :
āYou canāt just show up at my door when you wonāt let me put a toe in your house. You canāt just kiss me and act like we donāt know each other when youāre out. I love you, you know Iāll never hurt you purposely but I canāt be the only one trying to make whatever we have work. We canāt sneak out and share moments in a closet and then go on like nothing happened, not anymore. Iām tired of acting like I donāt know you. I want to take you out, to pick you up when you need, to put my hand on your waist, to kiss you anytime and anywhere. I want the world to know that I love you.
I stopped eating strawberries because you didnāt like the taste on my lips when we kissed. I stopped smoking because the smell made you want to throw up. I gave up everything you didnāt like, and Iām happy I did. But I need to know where we are going, what this relationship is. I can't go on without telling you this.ā
And I just stood there, wordless, not knowing what to do. I left and you didnāt chase after me.
I know I was wrong. I kept you at arms length but out of the way of my heart. Close enough to let you graze me but also far enough for me to not get attached and hurt.
Do you regret meeting me ? I hurt you, badly. I truly am sorry. But if I could do it again, Iāll meet you. You showed me what it was like to be loved unconditionally, healthily.
Time will heal everything there is to heal. While waiting for it to do that, I can now just look at you from afar. I truly wish you happiness because thatās what love makes you do, you taught it to me.
I know it's too late to say it but I love you. I do, I sincerely do but deep down, we both know Iām not the one, not your one and only. We donāt want the same things in life. I miss you. I think a part of me always will. But thank you for everything you taught me, thank you for everything you are.
The flames are consuming the paper. Each word is erased, one by one. While watching the letter burn, I can now just hope that my feelings burn at the same time. I wonder if itās better to have an ice-cold heart or ashes of it.
Let me introduce myself. I'm a GenZ living in Paris. I use she/her as pronouns. What to say more ? I like to read and watch series. I listen to kpop and US pop. I write a little. I spend my time eating and sleeping. I'm allergic to cats but I love them anyway.
I don't really know why I created this blog but I'll post random things like short stories I write, things about french culture, my opinion on books I read... In brief, everything and anything.
Don't feel shy and interact if you want to ! Hope we'll all have fun !
