"You really don't... remember?"
She turned to me, her eyes tinted in a frighteningly beautiful shade of gray, lips pressed in a thin line. I figured she was vexed of my repetitive questions, but I kept my eyes on her. Much to my surprise, she swung her head side to side, a small forced smile gracing her pale lips.
She sighed, looking out the barred window, "I remember I was human, but I can't remember the feeling of being one."
From the corner of my eyes, I could see the way hers darkened. Tears would have trickled down her cheeks if she was capable of crying. But you see, the Genomes were mysteriously stripped off of their normal human body reactions. Despite the alterations in their DNA, to push the capabilities of the human body to withstand environments of any kind, the human emotion remained a mystery even to the scientists who pioneered their kind.
