Ned was lucky, he supposed, that he’d met so many people during his time with the Brotherhood. Though their stays in the various castles in the realm were admittedly few and far between, somewhere in the midst of his life as Lord of Starfall and his life on the road, it seemed he’d met just about half the realm. It made events such as this easier; for though Edric was quite shy, it was much less nervewracking to at least approach someone he knew. Having made the rounds of his various acquaintances, Ned found himself seeking a drink and a second alone. In that moment - as in most moments, truth be told - he missed the easy companionship of the men he’d called family for much of his life.
Since his return to Dorne to take his rightful seat as Lord, Allyria and Starfall’s maester had worked tirelessly to ensure he knew who was who within the kingdom. House words were memorized as if he was still a child, lineages were traced from the ruling Lord or Lady back, but still - there was only so much he could learn from letters on the page. As such, it took him a moment to place the woman before him, and a quick thanks to the gods that he was so good with names. “It is, my Lady Gargalen,” he smiled politely, reaching out to take her hand in greeting. It was important to make friends with the other Dornish families, necessary that they see that he was still one of them. “It is nice to see another Dornishman amongst all these Northerners - though I hope the capital is treating you well?”
Tanselle was impressed with the Lord’s memory, knowing of his absence for some time from Dorne and his household. She didn’t know the exact details of his absence, but it was refreshing that he seemed to be trying to play catch up of sorts in making sure he knew his fellow Dornishmen, at the least. Most others in his position would deem themselves entitled to their Lordship, and he was by blood, but she could tell that his person was good, and he was willing to earn his position by alliances as well.
“I’m honored you remember who I am.” She replied, a smile coming over her face, this time genuine. Tanselle didn’t sense him to be threatening, and let her guard down some with him. It was the least she deserved for being so tense since she arrived in King’s Landing. “I agree. This place has never brought any comfort to my nerves any of the times I’ve been here, war or no war.” She admitted, sipping her wine once again. “It’s treating me fine, but I should expect that if the Lannister’s know what’s good for them.” Her voice was lower, but spoke true. What good would it be for them to risk the ire of their neighbor to the South?
