“Mizu?” you asked quietly, almost whispering. In the thick silence, raising your voice felt almost like a fear. Puffy white snowflakes fell slowly, making time seem to crawl, entangling moments. She glanced at you, standing to her right.

“Yes?” she replied softly. The calm sea caressed the hard rocks below the cliff where you stood. A couple of seagulls danced restlessly in cyclical flight above a distant rock.

“I like the sea. It makes me strangely happy.” At this time of year, the sea was colored in shades of navy, denim, and a touch of grey. You brushed her hand with your knuckles.

“Me too,” she chuckled in response, a small smile gracing her face. Heavy waves crashed on the rocks in a steady rhythm.

“Mizu?” Your nose started to tickle from the cold, stingy air. “Do you believe in happiness?” She pushed a strand of hair from her vision. She glanced at you again, a hint of regret in her eyes.

“I…” she hesitated, her eyes darting from side to side as she struggled to find the words. “I never thought that I could be happy. But I think I do. And I want you to be happy too.” She intertwined her fingers with yours.

You smiled sadly. “Strange, isn’t it? It is never enough just to be, to love and be loved. There is always something beyond, something distant and far bigger than any of us.” She pursed her lips, a heavy feeling of dissatisfaction rising within her.

“Tell me,” she suggested gently, her thumb caressing the back of your hand.

“It is strange for me not to have a home. There is no place for me anymore back there. When I was there it felt like a prison for my mind, and I am… scared.” Something blurred your vision and your nose started to itch harder. “What if I have to return there one day? I can’t. With you, it feels like I can finally breathe and think. I can actually talk and not have to hide.” Your tongue felt heavy in your mouth. “But with this, I found an even bigger fear. I can’t stand the thought that you might go one day and not come back.” A heavy tear grew too big in the corner of your eye and glided down your cheek.

Mizu looked deeply into your eyes, her grip on your hand tightening slightly as if to anchor you both in this moment. She took a deep breath, the cold air making her breath visible for a moment.

“I know it’s hard,” she began, her voice steady but filled with emotion. “It’s scary to think about the future, especially now. But I want you to know something important.” She paused, her eyes never leaving yours. “Right now, we have this moment. We have each other. And every time I look at you, I feel a strength I never knew I had. I think I believe in happiness because I see it in you, in us, even in the smallest moments we share.”

She gently wiped away your tear with her free hand, her touch soft and reassuring. “We can’t control everything that happens, and I can’t promise that life will always be easy. But I can promise that I will always be here for you, as long as I can. We’ll face whatever comes together, and we’ll find our way, no matter where that might be. You don’t have to be afraid of being alone, because you’re not. You have me.”

She leaned in closer, pressing her forehead against yours. “You’re not alone, and you never will be. And no matter what happens, I will always cherish every moment with you.” She brought your hand to her lips and kissed your knuckles gently, making you smile at the gesture.

“Your hands are ice,” she said with concern in her voice. “I know what we’re going to do now,” she said with a reassuring smile, taking off her cape and wrapping it around your freezing body. “I promised you the finest tea and sweets, didn’t I? Come, my little bun needs to be warmed, hugged, and hydrated.” With those words, she led you by the hand back to the city.

finally found someone who would talk about tlok with me but it was a straight man trying to tell me why korrasami couldn’t have happened in the show 😑😑

Oh good lord they do that. I heard the same thing about Cait/Vi from Arcane and how they romance is kind of hidden and not shown well especially in comparison with hetero pairings. But if a show has a good queer love story I hear a take like "why are they lesbians/gays? it doesn't do anything to plot so it's unnecessary".

The funniest thing to me is how they don't see the pattern. A general audience don't really want to see a proper queer love story development -> authors have to crop them as much as possible or reveal a pairing only in additional media products after the show ends -> a general audience is in rage mode bc nothing showed their closeness/romantic feelings and seems more like a "we had to put some queer stuff there" trick.

Like it aren't them who would be first in the line to resent an open well developed queer romance.
