A shoot I modelled for using the Queen of Hearts as inspiration. This is the first time I worked with a creative team I have never met before (they reached out to me on instagram) and it was a really great experience for me emotionally as I overcame my fear of working with new people because meeting new people gives me a lot of anxiety but everyone was so lovely and it was nice to be somebody else’s muse and execute their vision for a change which was also a learning experience for me!

Photo’s I took of my friend Daisy in a chill, cute bedroom photoshoot, using 70s inspiration with the set and colours. I did her makeup very soft and glowy to match the soft focus of the lens and I really like how these turned out. Was the first time I properly took photos using someone else as my muse and not someone taking pictures of a set I had created or me taking them of myself and I liked this experience. I’m still getting used to using my camera and lights but for my first time I think these turned out really well!

Don Mccullin Exhibition:

Over the weekend I went to see my friend Daisy’s work in the Tate Liverpool as a part of photographing the north west, inspired by Don McCullin. I was introduced to a lot of new art that inspired me immensely. I think seeing all of these amazing artworks solidified my interest in representing the working class and enhancing/distorting the beauty of it. Especially as a lot of Mccullin’s work was taken in my area and some photographs even on my road, it felt very close to home and almost like fate that I went to this exhibition.

In the characters that I create, I represent everyday working class people however I dramatise it to the extent where it feels like working class people from a parallel universe, there’s something off with my characters but you just can’t put you’re finger on it.

This style of art has been fascinating me a lot recently and I think others that accomplish this as well are creators such as Danny Boyle, Paul McGuian, Irvine Welsh and Shane Meadows however I don’t want my art to be as male dominated and predominantly straight as theirs, so I merge that with inspirations such as Todd Haynes, Nadia Lee Cohen, Cindy Sherman, John Waters to give it that dystopian, androgynous feel and I think that’s the perfect balance for where I am at with my art and upcoming projects at the moment.

Another song I’m working on in regards to my recent post. This is one I’m producing myself and I’m really proud of the production on this one. When writing this one, the lyrics aren’t really near and dear to my heart or anything spectacularly moving as I was focussing on improving my production and creating the synth pop sound I want to progress with. To go with the track I created a pop song about somebody who’s ‘league I’m out of’ becoming ‘enchanted’ by me, however I know where I stand and what I’m worth and I’m reminding myself of that. I know my worth and won’t settle for less but not to the extreme where I think I’m out of people’s leagues or enchanting, I’m just enhancing the imagery for dramatic effect.

A song I’m currently working on as I spoke about in my recent post. This one is called dissociate which I wrote when my best friend was suffering from severe dissociation and it was really distressing her and it was resurface the times where I would dissociate when my body was just trying to help me deal with traumatic events that I had completely pushed to the back of my brain, so I wrote this song to process those emotions in a healthier way.

During this release process I’ve also been tidying up and working on some songs for an upcoming project as it’s getting closer and closer, so I need to keep on top of everything and make sure all of my work is up to date now rather than stressing and the deadline gets nearer. This is one example of a song I’ve been working on with my friend Will who is producing it.

Currently producing an acoustic version of my second single with my friend Mo who I also worked on Loveblind with. An acoustic version was important to me not only for press but as this song, even though I hide it behind cute synths and a light hearted drum beat, is something I’ve been struggling with for a while, not feeling like my most authentic self and not feeling like I can let my guard down around anyone romantically so I disguise that behind lies or personality changes, so I wanted to strip it back completely and have a raw and honest version that people can have that option of resonating with it and getting in their feels or avoiding those feelings for another day and just boogie to some good music.

The mood board I sent to the stylist working on the music video. I wanted a stand out suit for the presenter, block colour or not, I feel like an almost oversized corduroy suit would be perfect with my natural hair and props to play with. The presenter is more in the personality than the styling so I will have to play on the slickness/cringiness/coked up stereotype of a presenter to fulfill it’s purpose.

The rest of the characters I described in my recent post but just to recap, a ‘tacky’, lustrous cougar/housewife with 80s/90s embellishments, the disshevelled model/paegent queen who doesn’t entirely know why she’s there and the gameshow obsessed old woman who you’ll catch at every pub quiz night.

Original mood board for my second music video ‘High and Dry’. This music video is based off of the song being about me being a ‘dating chameleon’ when I first start talking to somebody in a romantic way. I’m just not being my 100% authentic self and I might fabricate little white lies to make myself seem more interesting or even just to fill awkward silences sometimes which isn’t a great trait to have but it’s something I do that I’ve recognised and I wanted to translate that through this song.

The music video will be a gameshow where I play the presenter and 3 panel contestants, a cougar with fake tan, French tip nails, huge breasts, big blonde wig, a disshevelled, crying ‘paegent queen’ type character, and the classic old woman you catch in quiz leagues that is OBSESSED with game shows. I wanted to merge my music side with the side of me that loves drag and representing dramatic versions of people we don’t take a second look at in real life. Portraying the camp, tackyness of the mundane everyday with 4 characters, linking to my song about how I never feel like my truest self with romantic partners.

This is a look I didn’t really come up with a character/concept for I just came up with this idea and had an overwhelming sense of ‘I have to do this.’ I wanted wet hair, wet glowing skin, soft filter, surrounded my flowers and this is exactly what I pictured. This one was quite taxing to do because I’d be lying on a hard flowers with plastic flowers sticking in to and being constantly sprayed with water between takes so it was a tiny bit intense but it all payed off.

I like these ones because I think it shows a very different side to me. I’m very natural, pure, calm in these and I think that’s a side, especially through social media and pictures, that you don’t see of me often. I’m either creating crazy characters or very in your face and I wanted this look to kinda say ‘calm tf down, lets bring it down a few notches, we don’t have to put 5 layers of glue on our eyebrows to be glamorous.’

This is one of my favourite looks, I’ve always wanted to do a prom photo shoot and I think these came out perfectly!!! This is what I was going for when I previously said I wanted to do the chaotic bathroom prom look professionally.

Ideas we came up with on the spot were cutting up strips of fire blankets to use as streamers and the dress didn’t fit so we gorilla taped the back to me which meant my movement was very limited but I think exentuated my posture and wade me look very prim and proper.

I think if we had more time I would’ve like to smear my makeup and make it look like I was crying and cut up my prom sash and make it all look a bit distraught but I suppose I have already done a look like that so it’s good that I created another end of the spectrum.

These are some extra ideas we had when shooting the ‘Truth Glasses’ look because we didn’t have enough teleshopping/optician props to do a whole shoot dedicated for it but Dora thought a call centre look would match the aesthetic and I think it did perfectly! We were going through stages of emotions with this one, some being overwhelmed/upset with their life, some being the content chatty one, the smoker (the smoker was quite hard to do because balancing the cigarette in my mouth would often end up getting ash in my eye and I couldn’t see anything and was in a lot of plain lol) - I think I could even put these towards my rat race project.

You can also see more clearly in this one how my makeup is trying to represent the typical mod 60s twiggy make up which I love.
