GUESS WHO’S BACK! DJ M00N834M5 AND MC 5UN5H1N3 IN DA HOUSE!
14-year-old Jesse Romero was shot and killed by a LA police officer Tuesday, August 9.
Romero was suspected of writing gang-style graffiti in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles.
The boy was fatally shot while attempting to flee the scene. Romero allegedly had a gun, witnesses say he threw it away before he started running.
Before you come up with the “He deserved to die - he had a gun and tried to run away” bullcrap, ask yourself what you would do if you were a 14 year old teen of color and the police were after you. Ask yourself if it’s fair that communities of color live in poverty. Ask yourself if you’d say “he deserved it” if it were your white 14-year-old son.
Teresa DomĂnguez, Jesse’s mother, is mourning her dead child: “I can’t believe he’s dead…I can’t believe it. I feel like he’s going to come back, but I have to accept the truth.”
Jesse would have turned 15 on August 24.
#JesseRomero  #SayHisName  #PoCLivesMatter
#StopPoliceBrutality  #StayWoke  #Black&BrownSolidarity
I’m praying for this child and his family, but you’re account needs to stop saying #SayHisName and POC lives matter. This isn’t the first time someone has come to you about this.
There are hashtags for Latinx’s pertaining to police brutality, etc. It’s not fun being the one and seeing others have to say this under a harmless post. Use them, it’s not hard.
Infographic:Â 7 Reasons This Is An Excellent Resume For Someone With No Experience
yoooo what i need by tomorrow
AAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
Some additional tips from someone who has gone to a lot of resume-writing workshops
Think about the order of the different sections. The part you are most proud of/is most relevant should go at the top and work down from there until you get to the section that is not relevant
If you are running out of space, a phone number is probably better than an address. And if the resume is going on your website, remove address AND phone number.
Objective
If you have an idea where you want to go and it is okay to be vague
Skills
Group the skills section in a way that can easily be found
Keep technical vocab to skills section - people in HR might not understand
Group skills logically
It is okay to include soft skills too! (ex. great at working with other people, learns quickly, etc)
Experience
If you don’t have the skills or experiences, they want to know that you will be able to learn quickly
Add numbers to each bullet point to “show” what you have done. Saying “I tutored 15 students” is a lot better than “I tutored students”
Talk about results instead of what you did
Education
Like the above resume, highlight key classes
This should back up what kind of job you want to get
Include a cover letter
Cover letters
Write about your connection to the company
Get someone to look at it again to make sure it makes sense and for spelling and grammarÂ
Don’t go more than one page. As you get more experience, you might go over one but at this point one is enough. This also goes for resumes.
Talk about why you chose to apply for this company
References
Don’t give them unless they ask
Give three if they don’t ask for a number
Make sure they will say nice things. It is one thing to say they will give you a reference but it doesn’t hurt to make sure they will say good things :)
When you give references include these things:
name
title (when you were working with them)
(maybe your relationship to them)
company
phone number (they tend to like this better than email)
Social media
Have a portfolio to show off what you can do (for tech jobs, have a portfolio and a github and/or codepen)
Comp Sci: think about starting open source projects - it shows your skills and you like working with other people (openhatch.org)
Dates on LinkedIn in should match resume
Get good pictures of yourself
Professional picture over casual
Design
Lots of whitespace
Use PDFs
You might want to make your resume a different size to make it stand out but people like having everything the same and it might work against you
Stand out with your skills and your words instead!
A nice design for your resume is okay though (example: nice colors)
Other
Don’t include personal information (ex. gender) because they might throw out your resume in fear of being biased
Don’t include a picture of yourself with your resume for the reason above but it is okay on social media
It is okay to not meet every requirement. People apply for jobs better than what they already have which means that they won’t have experience in everything. Even for people who have been doing this a LONG time. Again, show that you can learn!
“Edita” / Porter Magazine #16 Fall 2016
That one mutual who likes all your personal posts
Also Romeo and Juliet are a couple that killed themselves.
Don’t aim for fictional relationships
Aim for a real one.
Harley’s love for the Joker and her willingness to tolerate his abuse was always very deliberately presented to be deeply unhealthy and tragic:Â
The Joker is not her love interest - he is her origin story. He is what formed her and made her the person she is today - but he is NOT her love interest, he is her abuser.
And in later arcs, she has left him behind for good:Â
She is now in a happy polyamorous relationship with Poison Ivy and a new character, Mason.
Harley Quinn has grown so much over the years, and I am really proud of her as a character and think she showed so much strength to grow past her obsession with the Joker and become her own woman, totally true to herself and refusing to have her narrative revolve around someone else’s life. So if you look up to Harley Quinn and see yourself in her, I think that’s great, but Harley Quinn isn’t amazing because she’s obsessed with the Joker, Harley Quinn is amazing because Harleen Quinzel is amazing.Â
Harley  has always v\been one of my favorites and I have loved watching her character develop/
now this is my kind of uber pool
did good on my bread final
no no no no. you did well, not good. you do well, you are good.
thanks for the grammar lesson but I don’t need it. I’m majoring in bread
We noticed that you’re using an old version of the Tumblr app. Why? You don’t have to live like this. Get the latest version from the Google Play store or Amazon
no offense but men don’t like… get it. like they don’t get anything
Be wary of anyone who talks about “the real world.” Your world is real. Your experiences are real. And the phrase “the real world” tends to be bandied about by people who want you to imagine that everyone is as cruel as them, you’re just too sheltered to know it.
No matter how many adult responsibilities you have, it is not impossible to find compassionate people.
Pretty clear.
I love how when black men/boys have pictures with guns they’re murdering thugs but when white men/boys have pictures with guns they are Staunch Patriot Defenders of the Freedumz nope no double standard there no sir.Â
