in my last post I actually started talking about figure skating so now it's time to rant and share my potentially hot takes:
alysa liu wouldn't be this famous and beloved if she wasn't alt. most of her fans don't even know or care about her journey and what she went through, they only like her because of her aesthetic. they don't know that she used to do quads, they don't know that she was starved to the point she wasn't allowed to drink WATER to not gain weight, they also don't know that she actually defended Sasha (trusova) after her breakdown at 2022 Beijing.
she wasn't even on my podium/3rd place max but due to the poor performance of my favs she won. congratulations to her, well deserved. but my heart breaks for Kaori, because it was her 3rd and last olimpics and she could have won with her 2022 score (230, 3rd place. while alysa won with 226). shes retired now while taking the gold at world championships, but she was my 1st place and it really broke my heart.
on the same note, people saying "alysa wouldn't podium if Russians were allowed" are wrong, because Sasha and Kamila are both now regaining their jumps and adelia was allowed and placed under podium (5-6th I believe), but I genuinely believe if more than 1 Russian is allowed during 2030 olimpics they will sweep the podium again.
back to the alysa, she had retired for 2 years and came back, which some people are saying "it hasn't been done before" or that "it's revolutionary", which yes, it is unusual and rare, but it has been done before. my fav girl, amber Glenn has gone on a mental health break too, which I believe is basically the same as alysa's? and if people are stanning (excuse my kpop vocabulary) alysa because she's so alt, gen z, likes anime and video games and is "woke", why not cheer for amber who is that but multiplied by 3. she is a huge mental health and lgbt rights advocate, a feminist, and a huge magic the gathering nerd, she also loves anime and popular shows. to me she's so funny and kind and just a bundle of joy. I would genuinely love to be friends with her. the way she does her eyeliner is so special to me, like I can tell when she did it herself and when it was done by the stylist. her outfits ALWAYS eat and her program music is always fire #justiceforamber (this could be called glazing but it's not cuz its deserved)
the men's free skate was a MESS. 18/20 skaters fell and they're saying the ice wasn't messed up? that is being said mostly to invalidate ilia's supporters who say that he fell not because of a mental block but because of the ice.. but hear me out.. BOTH?? like I personally spotted 4 skaters fall at the EXACT same place (and yes I'm still upset about my poor egadze I love him sm, he and misha are adorable)
which brings me to my next point: Mikhail shaidorov and Nika egadze UGH I LOVE THEM SO SO SO MUCH THEY ARE WAY MORE PRECIOUS THAT ILIA AND MISHA FIGHT MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Ive become genuinely so much happier after stanning stray kids and not only because of my intake of amazing songs, fun media and cute moments between my faves.. and of course buying albums and collecting pcs (which is becoming a problem).
BUT as well as (obviously) meeting my best friend, big sis, loml and wifey (dont ask how it works idk either) through the fandom space and her amazing fics
also getting to share my new found love for skz with my other bestest friend and getting to spam her vids of our biases interacting or just getting her into my music taste and getting her to see the other side of non english music (she listens to lots of Italian songs)
and also because I've genuinely became more confident?? like a year ago I was offended and so insecure about being called a squirrel by my classmate, and now I'm like YES I am Han Jisung, thank you so much. but now I've gotten braces and am loosing my squirrel look, and I would've NEVER thought I'd be upset about that??
