Wreck This Journal Update: I'm trying to be as consistent as possible since in four weeks we will be moving to an entirely new state. The odds of me keeping up with the journal in the next week or two, and the weeks following the move are highly unlikely. So... here are my pages for the week.

We Monkey Around

For the past year my husband and I have been hiding a little monkey we have named Franco all around the house every single day, seeing if the other person notices. I like the little games that my husband and I play together, or the inside jokes that we share because ultimately, I like to laugh and enjoy life, and my husband helps me do just that.

Suffice it to say, my husband is a practical joker and it doesn't help that one of his co-workers has an evil streak when it concerns this; and it's rubbed off a bit on Eric. He's zip-tied his co-workers tools down, completely re-arranged all the keys on their keyboard, put fake spiders in their car... and numerous other incidents which I'm sure he's yet to tell me about.

We are coming up on our 4 year wedding anniversary which is nothing compared to how long it actually feels we've been together, how well we know one another, or how we have grown to understand and predict what the other person will say or do. Time is everything but then it isn't at the same time. Because I have known people who have been married over 20 years who didn't laugh, who didn't spend time together or know anything about the other person. Each day is a conscious effort to laugh and have fun with each other, even if we're having a bad day. You can't even begin to imagine half the schemes we've come up with to make the other person laugh or smile when they're acting a bit (or a lot) like an asshole that day.

I don't know when the maturity will kick in, if boys ever do mature and grow up. But there is a part of me that secretly hopes it doesn't in a way, because even when we get into arguments about how he never volunteers to pick up dog poop in the yard or do dishes... pretty much any house chore aside from the occasional laundry and cooking, he's considerate in every other way and I can't help but feel grateful and shut up about everything else.

It honestly wasn't that long ago when it seemed I was yelling at Eric for just about everything, because I wasn't happy. Whatever he was or wasn't doing was all that much more magnified because I wasn't enjoying myself or life. I don't want to take a dramatic turn with this because this is quite an uplifting post, but my husband has endured a lot and been amazing during my severe bouts of depression.

I hope we continue to laugh and play for eternity.

Wreck This Journal Update: This past week I did some boring pages, most were writing challenges like writing with your opposite hand, writing with the pen in your mouth. But the page I enjoyed doing was the one which required freezing it somehow. I filled a Ziploc bag with water and three hours later my page was a solid mass. It’s still in the ice tray a week later.

Writing with my opposite hand wasn’t quite as difficult as I thought, and used a poem by Billy Corgan as part of the task. Writing with the pen in my mouth made me gag a little and enjoyed doing that the least. Actually, smudging pencil lines was probably my least favorite and I’ll have to re-visit that page down the line and add to it somehow.

The most artistic page and my favorite was doodling over a fake textbook page. I did a stream of consciousness type of poem on the page and then just used a bit of water color over it.

I am not a coffee person. In fact, in 6 years (no exaggeration) I have been to Starbucks TWICE... in 6 years! Yet I keep acquiring cards. Quite the conundrum. #starbucks #coffee #wtf #wheredothesecomefrom
