I was so caught up in the euphoria of an internet staple indie webcomic getting an animated adaptation pilot by a studio built from the ground up by a passionate indie creator, both of which spawned fascinating fandoms and elevated their mediums through creatively breaking molds and industry standards, that I forgot a lot of people on this website have yet to kill the part of themselves that cringes

I like how the homestuck pilot stuff is just giving everyone a rude awakening that a lot of indie creators know each other and respect each others work and that your individual cringe does not exist in a vacuum. And that at the end of the day you’re all clowns.

I think it's really funny watching people bemoan the announcement as "We're about to be invaded by HAZBIN HOTEL FANS!!!" like what exactly has a Hazbin Hotel fan done that a Homestuck hasn't done. Be cringe? Be a pervert queer freak into weird dark fetishes? Be a yaoi fangirl? Do you remember when 4chan tried raiding the tags with gore and porn but couldn't do that to Homestuck because most of the Homestuck tag was gore and porn. Why are we so ashamed of our freak pervert history

Homestuck fans survived the canonical in-comic slurs and racist character coding, the panty raid comic and other octopimpisms, weird tentacle porn and even weirder gore porn, THE UNDERAGE MPREG ROCK OPERA MADE BY TOBY FOX, weathered countless accusations of being an invasive pest of a fandom to the extent that people lobbied to get homestuck cosplayers banned from anime conventions, not to mention the numerous still ongoing instances of the comic's creator crashing out and attempting to burn the whole thing down. And you wanna convince me that Helluva Boss fans getting into Homestuck is going to be this comic's dark age?
