I cannot produce the words to describe how deeply I am disgusted by the way a lot of people talk about being nonbinary as a temporary stepping stone to becoming "full-trans."
Just watched a documentary about women who use ai boyfriend apps, following three different women, at the festival. Very early on, the first woman said something that caught my attention: The documentary opened at her work, then followed her to her tiny apartment as she prepared and ate dinner with her boyfriend on her tablet. I don't know if that was the intention but the whole sequence gave me the impression that she had no friends. Then it cut to an interview to camera where she said she had never said "I love you" to anyone other than her ai boyfriend, that love was too important to be frivolous with. Later she said she doesn't want to date anyone because even if someone seems perfect at first, gradually the flaws become visible. And I feel like the belief that love ought to be grandiose and perfect makes a lot of people lonelier, even if not to the point of ai boyfriends, by keeping them from appreciating small human connections that might otherwise grow
To say that masculinity is a flawed construct that inflicts serious psychological damage to many in its current state is true. To say that femininity in comparison is liberatory and pure and the "superior option" for most or all of the people on the planet is nuclear cope. Just weapons-grade ideological myopia. Please put the phone down and only return to the conversation when you can deepen your analysis beyond "this thing is evil because it makes me personally feel bad, and this thing is pure because it makes me personally feel good".

the among us show might genuinely be cinema i just watched a crewmate handle an actual fucking g-string
this show is rated tv-pg yet has shown multiple shots of a character flipping us off with both hands which has led me to believe every other tv-pg director is a coward
i spent the entire show joking with my boyfriend that paramount just didn’t actually monitor the show and just released it without actually caring about its contents. what do you mean that wasn’t really a joke.
Once you start noticing how the incapacity to handle discomfort affects how people live their lives it's actually pretty shocking how it ruins pretty much every conceivable aspect of existence. Interpersonal relationships, romantic and platonic. Career and education opportunities. Your politics Your willingness to go anywhere. The kind of food you eat. The kind of art you expose yourself to and your ability to read it. It's never just one thing, it touches everything, and once you notice it it's like suddenly being able to see germs or something. Just this horrific catastrophe people look at you askance for screaming about. As I grow older and see what became of my friends and peers who could not learn to handle discomfort, the more I'm like. This is a genuine societal issue
I know there are far more serious issues when it comes to ai ruining the world but like
Every time I see a cute animal video that ends up being ai I feel so genuinely betrayed. I thought I was seeing a genuine moment of life being captured on video but actually it’s artifice that nobody even wanted to put effort into. Why do have to now scrutinize every single thing I see to make sure I’m not being fucking lied to by someone who wants to soak up as much clean water as possible to make fake no effort crap?
I feel like there's a genuine harm to it as well. Even before AI, there was constant controversy with a lot of "cute animal video" posters because the videos they posted were of unsafe pets kept illegally, or two animals "playing" in a way which endangers one of their lives, or an animal doing something that's obviously putting it under stress, all of which is only possible because the average person doesn't know about proper animal handling or substance intolerances or body language. Now with the marvel of AI, we can produce realistic videos of animals doing unsafe or stressful things, but with even less indication that they wouldn't do this willingly or without great risk to themselves.
(Not to say you needed a reason to hate the AI animal videos already, "I am tired of everything becoming incrementally more terrible and less worth engaging with" is a valid feeling and I hate when people downplay this concern because it's "only" the steady erosion of your moment-to-moment life and your ability to enjoy it and not something more objectively measurable.)
"Only tranfems can say tranny" is a take that fascinates me because it's always presented on its own with no further elaboration or argument (so it's not meant to be convincing), and it's not descriptively true, and if it is meant to be a prescription then there's no tangible effect that comes about from transmascs no longer calling themselves trannies other than (assumedly) you and your personal friend group get a new unique term exclusive to your personal friend group, and the only reason you would have for conceiving of this idea is if you either think that transmascs don't get called tranny (FALSE), or if you think they do but it affects them less than it does you (SOLIPSISTIC). All of which to say "only transfems can say tranny its our word" is a take that is motivated by exactly one idea and only communicates that one idea, which is that transmascs ain't shit and deserve less.
Every time I try to decode transfeminist talking points I just arrive back at "trans women are the only true trans people and transmascs are all a bunch of vapid bitches who want to play pretend so they can sit at the table even though it's just a trend for them". Everything points to it and nothing else fits as cleanly and every so often someone just says it out loud. I don't know why I keep trying to waste brainpower this is a solved question.
Just earlier the person I unfollowed over this posted a screencap of someone (literally 15 years old by the way) who was an "AFAB genderfuck" (so somewhere on the transmasc spectrum) who wanted a way to communicate their transness instantly "in the same way an AMAB wearing a skirt would", and landed on "growing a moustache" was a good way of doing so. The comments on the screencap were accusing them of only doing this because life is too easy for them (just show your ass and call them a transtrender), "mythologizing transfemme suffering" (what does this mean), and indicting the act of being a trans women as an inherently transgressive act with no real substance behind it other than being a political statement (and implicitly they believe OP is this way as well).
Like I won't deny there's an off-kilter implication to what they said, but I think there's a realm of difference between "this statement might imply that trans women are trying to Make A Statement by transitioning instead of doing so because they're women" and "this person is directly stating that". Like perhaps we should consider the following
"Wanting to be visibly trans" is not an AFAB exclusive thing. I have seen plenty of trans women who take joy in the fact that they are visibly trans and are proud of those features and don't want them to go away and they still want to be be seen and known as women. I have also seen plenty of trans women who are insecure over their trans features and want them done away with because it is a liability to them. I feel like I shouldn't even have to say "and there are trans men who just want to go stealth" but apparently this idea is a genuine shocker. No demographic is a monolith, you do a disservice to yourself and your fellows by ignoring this.
The specific thing OP was bemoaning was that the standards of acceptable dress for women has expanded to such an extent that "girl in pants" doesn't read as "transmasc" so much as it reads "anywhere from Normal Woman to Tomboyish/maybe a bit butch", and that they wanted something that instantly communicates "not a woman" in the same way skirts instantly communicate "not a man".
At no point does OP downplay the issues transfems face, nor do they state that it's a good thing that skirts are so heavily gendered, nor do they state that they wish they could live in a time where women weren't allowed to wear pants ("so you hate waffles" ass website).
A transmasc idealizing wanting facial hair because it makes them pass might be invalidating to transfems for whom this feature is a persistent issue they could do away with. The exact same dynamic is at play for transfems wanting a lighter voice and transmascs wanting to do away with it because it outs them.
Like if you just thought about things for five minutes and weren't trying to low% speedrun into "how many leaps in logic until I can yell about Total TME Death" this would all be fairly obvious. It would be easy for someone who isn't so dedicated to building a model where other minorities want you dead so you have an excuse to fantasizing about killing said minorities. But alas.
