Hey everyone, it's been a while! I've been hard at work on commissions over the last few months, and now I can finally share this character lineup I created for 'An American Wedding Planner In Paris' by Natasha Gaubert, an upcoming enemies-to-lovers contemporary romance out May 26~

I’m currently writing a paper on fan interpretations of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, and I’m trying to include a handful of artists who are interested in the monster or have made meaningful art that relates to the project.

I saw your post (Sins of the Father) and I was wondering if I’d be able to include it - fully credited and cited of course ! - and possibly a little bit from you about design aspects of the monster that you enjoyed drawing or changed to fit your own style ?

Hmm funnily enough since my art style has been influenced by del Toro's films for a long time I feel like the creature design fits pretty well with what I usually draw, and since he's been influenced by Frankenstein all his life, I wonder if you could say I've been indirectly influenced by it all along.

I loved Hellboy II as a kid - the design of Prince Nuada from that film echoes a lot of the creature design in Frankenstein.

I particularly enjoyed painting the creature's skin tone, in the film it's a lovely mix of purplish-yellowish-greenish hues. I'm glad they gave him book-accurate long flowing hair as well! The blond streak really emphasises that he's made from composite parts.

As for things I changed, I didn't fully reference all of the scar placements. For the ones I couldn't find a good reference for, I followed the general idea they went for in the film that they would be placed along anatomy lines and access points.

I also pulled the red wings from the Dark Angel because of how the creature and the angel are associated in the film. That's probably what made me think of the Fallen Angel piece in the first place, with the references to Paradise Lost and the idea of the creature as an angelic or superhuman figure full of rage and grief at being cast out of Heaven by his capital-F Father.

Sins of the Father

Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein is finally out on Netflix! I actually saw it in the cinema a few weeks ago and was immediately hooked.

To celebrate the release date I wanted to paint Jacob Elordi as del Toro's version of the Creature in the style of The Fallen Angel by Alexandre Cabanel, so here it is :D

Happy October! I love when it gets to spooky season, I'm making the most of autumn at the moment with colourful leaf decor and plenty of pumpkin spice 🎃

I actually made this as a character reference for artfight back in June, in the midst of several heatwaves. I'm glad it's finally season-appropriate 😛

I want to get better at drawing and painting eyes, so I did a practice sheet of different eye shapes and skin tones. I like how they all turned out!

I would like to thank everyone who still decides to commission artists instead of going the "I will generate it myself with AI cause it’s way faster and cheaper" path and that you still trust artists with your characters and ideas, and that you are patient and supportive of creators, it truly means a lot!

A silly one today but I haven't posted in a while so eh I liked the outfit from this 'draw your oc' meme by pichikeen so I put my oc in it! I gave him some boba tea instead of the water bottle because I thought the outfit suited a sweet treat 😛

Belated happy new year! 🥂 2024 was an extremely busy year for me that included a graduation, a house move and a new job - naturally I took a step back from posting to focus on all those life changes, and now that things have finally settled, it looks like I've come back to quite the social media implosion 😬 (definitely feeling grateful for Tumblr rn).

Anyway, this painting was inspired by the holographic quality of moonlight in winter, and also wanting to make something shamelessly self-indulgent, which is the vibe I'm determined to carry through into 2025 😉⭐

Last month I took part in sinixdesign's Chroma Corps daily prompts for the 4th year in a row (!) I really enjoyed this prompt for a 'mythological figure in a Mad Max setting' and decided to go with the Norse goddess Hel, a daughter of Loki who rules the underworld 💀👑

I've been so busy over summer I never never got around to sharing the book cover I created for the sequel to "A Golden and Green Affair" by Molly Merlot, "A Dear and Daunting Ruse".
