Oooh boy. It’s painful to look back at beginnings sometimes. But it’s nice to see such improvement. I’ve been doing this for 9 years now, and I don’t regret a minute of it. 2006 was the year I learned how to sew. That Kadaj jacket was made by my poor mother. I still have it.

This is a bit of a Throwback Thursday post (a day late)

But this is also a costume that I have nearly no pictures of, which makes me extremely sad. My group never did come through, however, and Zhao Yun was only worn to one convention. It makes me really sad, because I do like the way it came out. Maybe one day I will bring him out again and fix the bits that need fixing.

It's really depressing that I have only two existing photos of this costume.

A shield I made for my nephew for christmas and the foam sword I repainted (but did not make) The shield has since been destroyed by the lacquer and now needs to be sanded down and entirely repainted. Needless to say, I am pissed.

What future cosplays are you thinking of? ;)

Wow, what a doofus I am. It has been a while since I have even bothered to log on, so I totally missed your message, Anon.

As for future cosplays… I honestly have no idea! I have so many that I’d like to do, but when I decide, I decide the moment I go to the fabric store to buy the materials. It’s all a bit sudden, really. Though my friend did text me the other day saying that she wanted to do Megaman X if I did Zero, but I suspect that will be at least a year away. I have been considering Altair for a while now, but I am sort of stuck on the fact that if I do it, I want to use real leather, and I don’t quite have the room to do that yet.

But, I suppose I will just list the costumes I have considered in the last year.-Altair from Assassin’s Creed-Raziel from Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver-Haytham Kenway from Assassin’s Creed III-Corvo Attano from Dishonored-Terra Branford from Final Fantasy 6 (just remaking the costume because it died)-Batgirl Tali’Zorah-Assassin Tali’Zorah-Gil-Galad from Tolkien’s Simarillion-Kuja from Final Fantasy 9 (Remake)-Fenris from Dragon Age 2-Cole from Dragon Age Inquisition

Also Sauron from Lord of the Rings…. Yes, I do think it’s hilarious to cosplay really tall men when I am a short 5’3” female.But seriously… I have no freaking idea who to do next. There are more on the list than I actually named… but they’re the least likely of the bunch. (Such as Jack Skellington, Lestat, Genesis and Link... also a Mirkwood guard, Thranduil, and artbook costumes for Legolas)

Personally I'd love to see you make some tutorials. You're amazing. ;)

Thank you! I think I will be building another Carnifex later this year (and maybe taking commissions for them) so I will make sure to take some better pictures and notes when I do it. I might be remaking bits of Tali later on, too. Namely the leg armor, so I may dork around with some sintra or worbla for that and try to remember to take pictures.

I'm in love with your Tali cosplay. How did you even-- Tell me your secrets for when I make a Quarian cosplay.. Likely Kal

Basically, take your time. I gave myself a good six months to finish my cosplay, and I still was cutting it a bit close. Also, make friends with people who know how to solder! If you're looking for a visor and don't want to deal with vaccuforming one of your own, I'd suggest chatting up people in the N7 Elite on Facebook or talking to Oz Deshaw. He's who I got mine from.
