What brushes do you use + what programs? any art inspirations? would luv to hear, your art makes me incredibly happy ^_^

i use Paint Tool Sai ver2 and Ms Paint, the first two are my go-to sai brushes:

and i want to share this slightly altered brush setting that i initially found in sempegzrd's brushes post, check them out! this one might be my new favourite

also i started playing around with these effects in sai, here's a little example. i use it to quikly clean lineart and make it a bit smoother, it can also add a cool ink spill effect when used with high value of blur. (that might be doable in photoshop with "trace image" or "threshold" options but that one just works faster with the hardware that i got:))

i loooove art with highly stylized and skewed perspective, art done with mixed media, figurative and expressionist stuff. and a lot of my favourite stuff might fall into magical realism genre (which is pretty broad(?) but i wanna include this fact haha)

its feels kinda silly talking about it in my fanart blog but here you go lol, here's some of my fave artists right now. all of the artists are linked to their instagram profiles(if theres any), but im sure some of them have tumblr, it was just easier for me to compile:

woodrow white - insanely cool approach to 3d forms and angles

gary kelley - really love the composition and how he treats anatomy. he passed away recently, RIP

charlotte salomon - i love that her work reads almost like a comic page and how dynamic and rhythmic the composition is. my favourites are her depictions of interiors. i'm yet to read her full biography but i know that sadly she became a holocaust victim

droawsy (tumblr link)- beautiful linework and composition. stunning paintings. especially love the panel formatting in comics

alisa gorshenina - love her textile work and graphics. love the reocurring roots motif and her deep love for Ural region. makes me deeply sad that recently she had to leave it to avoid further prosecution and censorship in russia. even writing about it makes me want to cry

sayan baigaliyev - thats what im fucking talking about when i say i love crazy perspective!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! idk what to say just browse through his work please

malyshki 18 22 - art by two sisters from siberian city Tomsk. there is a lot of art with cutesy pink + creepy stuff in the world rn but their practice and philosophy feels really authentic and personal to me. one of my favourites is a series about a police search in their apartment

idk if this is anything but for a long time i treated inspirational works as some destination (like "i want to come to a place where im able to create like them") but now i think of it as encountering something already familiar, almost reassuring? (like "oh, theres a path for me and these artists are like beacons on my own way"). that thinking helped a bit with my everpresent imposter syndrome
