it would be interesting to see optimus confronting not just one of his closest allies as usually happens, but a whole group of them. to see how deeply the war can divide them. to see more people abandoning him, becoming disappointed in him and his actions. such a betrayal, from those he trusted the most, is truly frightening. loss is always difficult and the death of a friend is a terrifying experience, but their rejection of you? so much worse

This became far longer than intended, but your ask gave me an idea and the little clown in my brain ran away with it ('￣▽￣)

Optimus isn't so much sulking as he's just frequently getting deeply lost in his thoughts. Ratchet pieces together that Megatron's got something to do with the recent change in behavior and talks to him about it, then promptly wishes he hadn't lol. He's always been a hater in my brain, though, so nothing's really changed about his interactions with Megatron.
