so what you're gonna do is whip up your favorite chocolate cake batter. then you're going to melt half a stick of butter in the bottom of your 8 inch cake pan. then you're going to pit and halve enough cherries to make a solid layer on the bottom of the pan. you pop that cake batter on top and bake as normal-just add another 10 minutes. give that sucker about 15 minutes to rest after you take it out of the oven and flip it upside down on a plate.

It's believed that the Carmelite order of monks or nuns created this water somewhere in the seventeenth century. Spiritually, this potion is used as a road opener (removing blocks), cleanser (banishing and removing energy), and for blessings.
Ingredients
1 cup lemon balm
1/2 cup angelica leaves and stems, chopped
1 tablespoon cloves
1 lemon, zested
1/2 tablespoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon coriander seeds
4 cups vodka, gin or brandy
Place the dry ingredients in a 1-quart glass jar, and add the alcohol. Stir and shake well. Place in a cool, dry place and let steep for two weeks. Strain through cheesecloth into a new jar. It will keep for up to four months.
Dosage: one tablespoon daily as needed to soothe anxiety.
put on music & set the mood. this is an important part of my kitchenwitchery! sometimes i'll lay a compass in the kitchen.
in a pot, add 1/4 to 1/2 stick of butter (or olive oil) and melt, then add diced onion, carrot, and leeks. call upon the spirits of onion, carrot, and leek as you put them into the pot, requesting their assistance of providing their protective virtues unto this meal. stir the vegetables clockwise, winding the hips in the same direction, and say the lord's prayer (or another protective incantation) into the pot. sometimes i will sing ave maria while i stir.
once vegetables are tender and translucent, add minced garlic and fennel, and seasonings. repeat the calling upon of the aromatics & seasonings, as well as the stirring clockwise & prayer over the pot.
add some broth into the pot, then add cream of mushroom/chicken soup & more broth. stir clockwise with prayer until fully incorporated.
kiss bay leaf with protective intention then add into the pot, add potatoes, cover, and pray over the pot before leaving to boil.
mix 1:1 mashed potatoes with all-purpose flour and ~1 tbsp salt, then combine into a dough, adding more flour if necessary. while kneading the dough, use the right hand to knead, and pray for protection over the dough.
once potatoes are soft, divide dough using fingers and place into the dough. say one line of the lord's prayer for each dough knob dropped into the soup. cover again and let boil.
remove bay leaf before serving, and top with sour cream and/or parmesan cheese.

In some areas of Europe, the Potato was considered aphrodisiac. The poisonous fruits, which contain the steroidal glycoside solanine (C45H73NO15), were used in love-philters of the 17th century. In Russian folklore, the Potato is a plant of Grange and maligned origin, originating from the anus of a magician’s corpse. Nigel Pennick, in his Secrets of East Anglian Magic, relays the modern magical use of mummified potatoes as talismans against cramp and rheumatism. Carried on the person, these shrunken tubers may be considered part of the larger corpus of magic known as root-charming. The practice is also known in various regions of North America, such as the Ozark Mountains.

Something that really confused me as a beginner witch was 'road opener' spells. I heard people talk about these spells all the time but I had a hard time actually understanding what it meant until I did one myself. Because of that I decided to put together a little guide for all things 'road opener'. I hope this helps!
What does 'road opener' even mean?
Road opener is a type of spell to open the person up to new opportunities and to remove any blocks stopping them from obtaining those opportunities. These spells are great if you're feeling stuck. You don't have to have an opportunity in mind, you might just feel like everything is stagnant and you want things to start moving again.
What goes into a road opener spell?
Generally, these spells have 2 parts/aspects to them; removing barriers and negative energy and bringing in prosperity and new opportunities. You can do these together or seperate them into a 2 part spell, it all depend what you feel like. road opener is like a fancy name for a banishing spell mixed with a prosperity spell.
An example of a road opener spell:
Candle Spell:
A white, green or black candle (green for prosperity and growth, white as a replacement or to symbolise a fresh start or black to remove any negative energy or blocks)
Black salt (to remove any negative energies or obstacles from your path)
A bay leaf (for prosperity and wealth. write your intention on the leaf)
A sigil with your intention
cinnamon (represents wealth)
cloves (protection and wealth)
basil (protection and wealth)
an anointing oil (note: optional)
something to carve into the candle with (a sharp pencil, scissors, a paper clip, etc)
a heat proof dish and candle holder
Method:
1. Cleanse yourself, your work space and tools
2. Create your sigil. I like to use the intention 'All obstacles are removed from my path' or ' nothing stands in the way of my success' but it's completely up to you
3. Carve your sigil into your candle.
4. Write your intention on the bay leaf then place the candle on top of the leaf
5. Mix the remaining herbs together (except the black salt) and sprinkle them in a ring around your candle. If you wish to anoint your candle and roll it in herbs instead, this is the time to do so.
6. Place the black salt in a circle around the herbs and candle. This is to represent the banishment of any negative outside energies or to just get rid of anything that doesn't serve you anymore. You don't have to put it in a circle, it just works for me.
7. Watch the candle burn and focus your intention.
Notes: there are 1000s of ways to do this spell with all the ingredients I listed. If this spell doesn't feel right to you, don't do it or change it. It is only an example.
Alcohol in general is a very potent ingredient and can either be used for positive or negative outcomes. Often times, alcohol is used as an offering to gods and goddess. Alcohol is also purified by the process of making it, so all of them can be used for cleansing in general spell work. In general alcohol is used minimally and should not be used if you have/had an addiction. This is for general knowledge!
🧚 Absinthe - It is an anise-flavored spirit derived from botanicals, including the flowers and leaves of Artemisia absinthium (“grand wormwood”), together with green anise, sweet fennel, and other medicinal and culinary herbs. While the hallucinogenic absinthe is banned in the US, you can still find a less severe version today. Good for psychic dreams, and protection spells.
🍺 Beer - is brewed from cereal grains—most commonly from malted barley, though wheat, maize (corn), and rice are also used. Most modern beer is brewed with hops, which add bitterness and other flavours. Very good to add an extra punch to your spell work, as well as having many different types uses.
🍺 Ale - s a type of beer brewed using a warm fermentation method, resulting in a sweet, full-bodied and fruity taste. Historically, the term referred to a drink brewed without hops. Very good for non-sleep/drowsy spells.
🍷 Brandy - is produced by distilling wine. Acts like a wine, but tends to be a little more general, while wine can have different effects based on color/type/location.

🍺 Cider - made from the fermented juice of apples. Extremely powerful, and generally very positive. Use sparingly though! Use real apples when you can instead.

🍸 Mezcal - is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from any type of agave plant native to Mexico. Very similar to Tequila. Tequila is simply made from the Blue Agave plant.

🥤 Rum - made from molasses or honey, or directly from sugarcane juice, by a process of fermentation and distillation. The distillate, a clear liquid, is then usually aged in oak barrels. Very good in any love/relationship magic

🍷 Port - is a Portuguese fortified wine that is typically a sweet, red wine, often served as a dessert wine, though it also comes in dry, semi-dry, and white varieties. Good for love magic.
🍷 Vermouth - is an aromatized, fortified wine flavored with various botanicals (roots, barks, flowers, seeds, herbs, and spices). A good combo if you find the different ingredients listed.
🏺 Santorini - is a Greek wine region located on the archipelago of Santorini in the southern Cyclades islands of Greece. Wine has been produced there since ancient times, but it was during the Middle Ages that the wine of Santorini became famous worldwide under the influence of the Republic of Venice. Probably a good choice for offerings if you worship the Olympian gods.
🥃 Whiskey - is distilled from fermented grain mash. Various grains (which may be malted) are used for different varieties, including barley, corn (maize), rye, and wheat. Whisky is typically aged in wooden casks, generally made of charred white oak. The charred oak is really your ticket here to add a kick.

🔥 Proofs - I bring this up because if you want to use fire with the alcohol you need over 100 proof (in US at least - I believe Europe/Canada/UK use a different measuring system) to light alcohol on fire. Anything less will not stay lit/light at all.
🚫 Cleaning Alcohol - or Isopropyl alcohol is very toxic. Be careful. I would not recommend using it outside of its usual purpose. It’s extremely flammable, should not be consumed, and is a skin irritant! Just don’t use it!!
So you have seen our lovely bath magic spells but you cannot take a bath. Maybe you don’t have a bath in your current residence, maybe you are physically unable to use bathtubs, maybe you’re just super stretched for time but want to get in some extra magical umph. Shower disks are traditionally used in the aromatherapy world to relieve congestion and other flu-symptoms while showering via the use of essential oils, but we will be bumping up their magical potential.
Basic recipe:
1 cup baking soda
1 tablespoon corn starch
1/3 cup of water
Muffin tins and muffin liners
Glamour:
essential oil of sweet orange
essential oil of rose
essential oil of jasmine
crushed red rose petals
pinch of glitter
Combine baking soda and corn starch (making sure there are no clumps), then slowly add in the water. Fill lined muffin tins about third of the way, then add in dry herbs and spices. Leave out to dry for at least 24 hours. Carefully take disks out of the liners, add your essential oils, and place your disk somewhere in your shower that will allow them to dissolve slowly while you shower. Bam, you’re done.
This recipe is the shower version of this bath spell.

Splash coffee on paper and let it dry
Cut into tiny sheets and write down a few affirmations
Roll them into tiny scrolls tying them off with pink thread

Cork it and seal the jar with red candle wax
Bury it if you can. If not, then dispose of jar best you can.

Here's a small and very easy spell to bring a little extra sweetness into a relationship! A little PSA is that this spell is for an already existing relationship, it enhances rather than creates. Also, it doesn't have to be for a romantic relationship! You can use this for friends, family, employers etc!

Ingredients
Sugar
This is pretty self explanatory, a little sugar to sweeten the relationship! I used two types of sugar - granulated and light brown but you can use whatever you have or feels right. I used these two because light brown sugar felt very grounding and homely, it is reminiscent of the feeling I want to bring into our relationship, and it reminds me of my partner.
You could also use: honey, fruit, chocolate, or anything sweet, but consider what they might bring to the spell - chocolate is rich and can be addicting, it may be good for a spell to bring a more passionate energy to the spell. Honey is sweet and sticky, this might help pull in someone who has a habit of being distant. Fruit is sweet in a more subtle way, and the type of fruit you use will have its own energy. This will also be determined by your own correspondences and associations.
Black pepper
I always like to add an element of protection to my spells, just to keep them clear of any interference. Black pepper also adds an element of fire and passion to help spice up the relationship. You could use anything you like that symbolises protection in your practice e.g. a pentagram charm, some iron scrapings, thorns (though be careful adding anything baleful into the spell, be clear of it's intention and purpose).
Dried flower petals
Flowers have always been a language of connection and communication between people, not just romantically. For my spell, I used some petals from red tulips petals my partner had gotten me (this helped add an extra layer of energy as it was a gift from him to me), and red tulips represent love and passion (and they're my favorite flower). For a more platonic relationship you could use daffodils, yellow roses or daisies! For family you could use orchids or pink roses and for a more formal relationship perhaps lavender or violets. Consider what you want from the spell, and adjust accordingly - if you want a calmer, more stable relationship try lavender or primrose, if you want something more fiery and passionate then carnations or red roses!
A taglock for each person in the relationship
For my spell, I used hair as this was easy to get from me and my partner. You can also use a photo of you both, their names on a slip of paper, something with their handwriting etc. You can also use blood or other bodily fluids but always be careful and safe when interacting with bodily fluids.

I'd recommend creating your own sigil for this, as you want to imbue it with your own specific desires! For me, I did a simple sigil with imagery and letters woven in with my intention: a fulfilling relationship. A simple intention, because again this is just to boost an existing relationship rather than to create one.
Petition of your desires
Alongside the sigil, I also wrote a short and simple transcription of my spell. If you're unsure of what to write than here's a simple template: [your name] and [other person's name] relationship will bloom into [what you want; a fiery romance, a respected partnership, a life-long friendship]. [Person's name] will [what you want from them; dote on, respect, propose, hang out more, etc]. So mote it be (or your alternative I.e. amen). Here you can also: petition and thank specific spirits if you want, and add a "if not" clause (I.e. if this cannot be, then 3 doves will reveal this failure to me).
An offering
If you are asking a spirit to aid this spell, as I did, then a simple offering (even just a glass of water). If you haven't involved spirits then you don't have to include an offering, but it can help to provide an offering for the spell nonetheless- something to help give it energy in a way that won't drain you.
Other symbols of the relationship
You can also add any other ingredients that fit the relationship you want to grow. I added a small rose quartz crystal, as its a symbol of love and the earth, I also added a small sea shell as I personally associate water and the ocean with love. You might choose to add a friendship bracelet you've made (which could be an extra layer of knot magic) or something from your childhood.
A biodegradable container
This can be anything from a toilet paper tube, to a compostable bag, to just paper. Anything that could be broken down over time (and is safe for the environment). Get thrifty!
Thread
A piece of thread in the colour you most associate with the relationship and your intention. For me, this was red. For a friendship spell perhaps yellow, for a spell related to your boss green may work better - it all depends on your end goal.
The Process
Combine your sugar, pepper, petals, and taglock and grind and mix them together until they're well combined. I use a pestle and mortar and like to move clockwise to bring the spell inwards.
As you do this, focus on the feelings you want the relationship to bring - think of the positives that already exist in your relationship, these are what you want to amplify with the spell.
Take your sigil and petition and use whichever element you prefer to activate it. You may burn it if the element of fire feels right (fire can help bring more passion and quicker results), you may choose to drench the paper in water (I chose this, as water is associated with emotions and I used the water from my tulips to do this), for air (which may encourage communication) you may use incense or similar. If you want to use earth, you don't have to do anything extra, as the element of earth will be used to activate the spell later.
Add all of this (and anything else you've decided to include) into the container, as you do so, read aloud (or in your head) the words on your petition. Call upon any spirits you wish and ask them for aid in the spell.
Now, with the thread, seal the container. For me, I was able to sew through the material of the container, if you can't then just wrap it around. As you sew/wrap the thread, again think of you desires and intentions, feel them and pour some of your feelings into the spell (whether it's love, respect or perhaps in the case of an employer, the desire to be acknowledged and respected).
Finally, bury the spell outside. I'm a nature focused witch so this is an important aspect of most of my spells - burying a spell is planting the seed, as the spell decomposes and is released into the earth, it will grow and bloom over time, drawing power from the soil around it, making it much more longer lasting. As you bury it, feel the energy of the earth and let it flow into the spell. Tell the spell (and any spirits) that you are activating it (whatever this means for you. You may have a tradition of ringing a bell to signal the activation, or just say something. Or you may say "as I release it into the earth, the spell begins to root and bloom."
You could choose to simply keep the spell with you inside, however as it's such a long term spell, I'd recommend you provide it somewhere to get energy from that's not yourself or you will get burnt out.
And that's it! I finished this spell a few hours ago, with the aid of Rabbit Spirit, and perhaps half an hour after burying and leaving my offering my partner text me to invite me on a date tomorrow (we're both busy and broke so "proper" dates that aren't just snacks and movies are pretty rare)!
