y’all like.. i keep seeing everyone in silvermoon speaking in thalassian. when you do that, you don’t make me want to roleplay with you, as a pandaren (who is not a mage, so i don’t have arcane linguist.) i’ve been seeing people defending it, saying that it’s not alienating other races because “you can walk up to them still, && ask what they were saying!” no! if you’re going to say that, naturally, a blood elf speaking to another blood elf is going to speak thalassian, then you can’t tell people to walk up to a stranger && ask what they were saying in another language. that’s not something people do. i don’t know anyone who overhears someone speaking another language on the street && thinks to walk up to them && ask what they just said. it’s not what people naturally do. so then you’re forced to choose between immersion, while also restricting yourself to exclusively blood elf roleplay, or just switching your language to orcish so you have more roleplay opportunities.
