Watch a complete lesson on building analysis skills for ELLs in Special Ed. With strategic planning, you can teach students to make inferences and use supporting evidence on their own.

Why I wanted to become a special education teacher, I have known that I was passionate about helping those with disabilities whether it be with children, teens, or adults. It has always held a special place in my heart. I was 12 years old when I realized exactly what I wanted to do with it. I wanted to become a teacher it was perfect! I wouldnt have to sit at a desk all day and not talk to anyone I would be able to stand in front of a classroom and be hands on in my job. Id be able to see children grow into something beautiful, special, and smart. Munroe Meyer a camp for kids with disabilities is the reason I wanted to work with people with disabilities and a place a can personally thank for helping me choose my career goal in being a special education teacher. Tessas story!
I have been tested at age 18 and my dad JUST got tested at age 54 for autism. Its important to get someone you think really knows their stuff and is nice to test you. You can get a recommendation from your primary doctor, ask your health insurance company what doctors can test you near you, or ask...

THIS IS SO GREAT!!!!
"Rahm Emanuel is not caring about our schools; he is not caring about our safety. He only cares about his kids. He only care about what he needs. He do not care about nobody else but himself. He let Barbara Byrd-Bennett, a woman thatās from Detroit who donāt even know the streets of Chicago where Iām from, come in and close these schools.ā [x]

Studies have shown that it helps, top education officials have recommended it, and now doctors are officially saying the same. On Monday, the American Academy of Pediatrics released a policy statement recommending that middle and high schools delā¦
An AP link to this story went up on a local news Facebook page, and the comments from adults was so discouraging.
"These kids need to learn what the read world is like."
"Parents need to take away electronics and theyāll go to bed!"
"Time for parents to start whooping their kids and parenting."
"Oh look another example of catering to kids."
Likeā¦did they not read the article? Ā Itās freaking BIOLOGY. Ā
I went to high school before the big technology shift. Ā I didnāt have a TV or gaming system in my room. Ā I had a desktop computer with dial up my junior and senior year. Ā I had a land line phone. Ā But I wasnāt up late talking on the phone or chatting on ICQ. Ā I was wide awake reading or poking at my homework because I legitimately couldnāt sleep. Ā I remember falling asleep in the shower when I was a kid. Ā
Our day starts at 8 a.m. Ā We already have a school day at the high school that is over an hour longer than legally required. Ā Is it seriously that absurd to push back a half hour or an hour? Ā And would even shifting the entire day from 8-3:15 to go 9-4:15 be more similar to the average work day?
How is this a crazy suggestion suddenly soaked in the coddling of children?
We start at 7:25AM. Very few ānormalā professionals start that early. Iāve been instructing for an h by the time most people are supposed to show up at work. Non-teachers tell me to run before work. Yeah, right. At 4:30AM? (Props to you,

, but thatās not my thing) Catching a bus at 6:30AM and being expect to engage in rigorous intellectual work at 7:25AM is very far off from what most adult professionals experience, and that is what my students are currently subjected to. Iām not asking that we roll in at 10AM. But could we please start at 8AM? Like the real world?
My kiddos wrote argumentative essays about this last year and it looks like I moth have this yearās group do it too as it seems to be a hot topic.
Our school starts at 9 (and ends at 1:30 for most kids, although I teach a late class). Many of them still canāt get there on time.
I did have a freshman once, though, who struggled and ultimately failed my morning class but aced my night class (6:00). He was much more engaged at night.
DO IT NOW!
I student taught at a school that started at 8:45. It was a beautiful thing! All of us (yes, including me), were so much more well-focused and able to process things. The districts around us accommodated our later start for sports.Ā
The burrito one is hilarious ever time because of how it relates to my life!
He was 13. 13 and he felt hopeless.
18 and she felt lost.
23 and she felt helpess.
65 and he felt trapped.
68 and she felt worthless.
I have met many people in my life who have attempted or seriously contemplated suicide, a few within my own family.
