Thank you, Saturday!š
Last night I met this guy, Bryan/Kenneth, good friends with Kerwin and knows my cousin too. (Johann "Pao" Garcia) He told me the first step of starting a foundation. In terms of money and all that jazz, and guess what? I can do it as early as this year. I can actually register TEACH already. Thank you for last night Lord. For leading me to where I had to be to know how to really start this dream. ššš
I was 4. It was for my Ninong. (Abbot Tarcisio Narciso of the Benedictine Priests.)
Step One
So tonight I was talking to an old friend that I respect, Atty. Anton Arcilla, someone whoās known me since I was maybe 19 or 20? And he gave me very interesting advice about TEACH.
First he came clean and said what I want to do is difficult. He also said that (well I prompted it) I should know what it is I want for the foundation long term.
(And that well, it would help to apply and work in a foundation/NGO that fights for the same cause ā which Iāve been planning and researching on since August.)
So what do I want for TEACH long term? In maybe what? 10 years? I want TEACH to be the center of healing of all kinds of illnessesāemotional, mental, trauma; or simply put, a center of inspiration, wherein street children can reassess their lives and realize how lucky they are to be alive. And that in them, is the power to change their situations.
How does ART come in? Well, Iāve seen it in the pastāart has made special children sing beautifully, paint like Iāve never painted in my life, and play instruments as if they did not have any disability.
Art, as defined in the MAARTE AKO video (you can look it up on google or YouTube!) does all these things to people.
How do I concretize it? Well, weāll seeā¦.
But at least for the year, I want to adopt a group of maybe 10 street children to whom I will devote my free weekends teaching music, visual art, acting and dance.
After each session, we will process what they learned, just like we do in any theater workshop, and bring out their insights. This is where I come in (and my parents), we will translate it with them. Translate in the sense that their learnings can lead to action and inspiration.
I know itās all, as Lala and I put it āup in the airā, but hey. Itās a start.
And now, to find that place where I myself can learn and work at the same time⦠:-)
Last night in my cousinās D Group, I found the girls that can help me start my dream: TEACH (Teaching and Educating Artistic Children with Heart).
TEACH will be devoted to adopting street children, as well as children from the less fortunate rural and urban communities of the country, educating them through Art (Visual, Music, Performance, Production, etc), and helping them get through life.
More importantly TEACH will be imparting values that will not only equip the children with the tools to succeed but also move them to change their situations, inspire people and bring change in society.
This is where my dream foundation startsāthis Blog (inspired by āThe Happiness Project). This is where my journey begins. š
