It had once been one of my favorite vegan restaurants in downtown Taipei before it got a bit pricey. Still love it, not a frequent customer though.

Neil Gaiman on what stories do for the human spirit and how they last for generations.
And I don’t even bother to pull it back up.
Hey, thanks for the reblog = )
Sorry for my belated response and thank YOU. A lot of your posts are simply fun to look at, and very much inspiring as well. :)
After the pouring rain this afternoon these lovely fellows just sprang up like mushrooms...
Ah, right, they are mushrooms.
This is what I call an improvised version of Matcha(green tea) cake roll. People of Taiwan like to name it the ‘annual ring cake’, as it resembles that of the tree rings. Moist, soft, dressed with matcha flavored white chocolate coating, a bite-sized delicate piece of it with tea (Hoji tea I’d prefer) brings you to heaven. (Oh well, only the matcha-lovers I suppose.)

“There is another sky, Ever serene and fair, And there is another sunshine, Though it be darkness there; Never mind faded forests, Austin, Never mind silent fields— Here is a little forest, Whose leaf is ever green; Here is a brighter garden, Where not a frost has been; In its unfading flowers I hear the bright bee hum: Prithee, my brother, Into my garden come!”

Steamed Minced Pork with Pickles
I started trying out rice cooker recipes two months ago in hope that I could somehow cut down on food costs, but boy was I just born yesterday. The electricity bills accumulated swiftly - so did my interests in homemade light cooking.
This steamed minced pork with pickles wasn't my first try but an initial success indeed. It went extremely well with rice.
Ingredients:
a bunch green onion, finely chopped
minced pork (150g, serves 2)
canned pickles (1/2 can, serves 2)
soup from canned pickles, 4 TB
less sodium soy sauce, 1 tsp.
freshly ground black pepper
rice wine, 1TB
some salt and sugar to taste (not essential)
Cooking Process:
In a mixing deep plate, sprinkle some finely chopped scallions onto minced pork and then mix all ingredients well. Sit for 15 mins (or for longer in a fridge if you like). Steam for 15 mins (1 cup of water in a Tatung rice cooker.) Serves 2 with some more green onion on top.

Forever familiar.
Right by the shore, there stood a cafe that served world’s number one gourmet breakfast (allegedly).
