Day 19 TeaCoupGlobal 2016 series 3. 44 years around the sun yet it's the light of the full moon that I want to celebrate today! This morning I decided to wear Ajrakh red cotton scarf hand block printed in natural dye made in Kutchchh Gujarat . Collaborating with @wanderingsilk in this tea series has bought two women together "She is free in her wildness, she is a wanderess, a drop of free water. She knows nothing of borders and cares nothing for rules or customs. 'Time' for her isn’t something to fight against. Day 18 TeaCoupGlobal 2016 Series 3. Getting ready for my full moon tea ritual - with @teacoup Luna Soma chai! I'm very blessed to display my ritual on a Kantha scarf - one of a kind handmade by a cooperative of women artisans in West Bengal. I have decided to use this beautiful vintage sari scarf sent by @wanderingsilk in my tea ceremony to honour the women who have worn this sari, worked on stitching this sari into a scarf and the women who will now gather around it to drink tea! - "conscious living ~ mindful tea" Full moon blessing 🙏🏾🌕

Day 15 TeaCoupGlobal 2016 Series #3 Tibetan butter tea — po cha — is an acquired taste, since it is salty rather than sweet, and has a completely unexpected flavor. Many non-Tibetans don’t care for it much at first, but come to love it when it is associated with warmth on a cold day and good times spent with Tibetan friends, or the adventure of travel in Tibet or Tibetan communities in India or Nepal. Day 12 TeaCoupGlobal 2016 Series #3 What makes Indian Lemonade different from the regular stuff? Spices, of course! And, a very special type of salt called Kala Namak or “black salt,” which actually looks pink. The spices are Indian, but way different from curry powder. A blend called Chaat Masala (“Snack Spice”, featuring tangy mango powder, grounding asafoetida, and exotic black salt) is used to give this lemonade refreshing minerals, flavor and digestive qualities. Chaat Masala is highly addictive with sweet, salty, sour and slightly spicy flavors. Day 11 TeaCoupGlobal 2016 - series #3 I believe in the magic of preparation. You can make just about any foods taste wonderful by adding herbs and spices. Experiment making your own Chai -with cinnamon, cardamon, ginger,black pepper, nutmeg, star anise, fennel, tulsi, mint, saffron, turmeric, ajowan and licorice. Day 10 TeaCoupGlobal2016 Series #3 "Peace begins with a cup of tea and a smile" . I'm honouring my grandmother(dadi) who passed away 3 years ago on this very day at the age of 91. My grandmother's sacred wisdom of spices and tea ignited a deep passion of Plant Medicine within me. This lead me on a path to become an Ayurvedic Practitioner and a Tea blender. I realise now that I have been very blessed as sacred lessons are passed on from one generation to another...books may help but a real master is a godsend blessing! Day 9 TeaCoupGlobal2016 Series#3 Holy man draped in saffron scarf - reading the newspaper and drinking a pot of yogi chai in Pushkar Rajasthan. Yogi Tea Recipe (original) 10 ounces of water (about 1 1/3 cups) 3 whole cloves 4 whole green cracked cardamom pods 4 whole black peppercorns 2 slices fresh ginger root ½ stick cinnamon ¼ teaspoon black tea ½ cup milk or milk substitute Using a large pot, bring water to boiling and carefully add spices. Cover and boil 15 to 20 minutes, then add black tea. Let sit for 3-5 minutes, then add the milk and return to a boil. Upon reaching a boil, carefully remove from heat and strain. Day 6 TeaCoupGlobal Series #3 Women in sari picking wildflowers near the tiny village of Bantala in East Kolkata. Once a month, usually during the new moon the bright exotic Marigold flower also known as Calendula Officinalis burst into bloom. Dried flowers of the plant can be used to make tea. Boil water and add a tablespoon of dried flowers to the pot of tea and let it steep. In Ayurvedic medicine- this tea purifies blood and reduces inflammation-combining it with hibiscus and mint- makes a great refreshing cooling drink. Says Poet al-Tilaib : "The first condition tactful he should be/ Light hearted with tender, honest, soul/ The water he uses must be clear and dirt free/ He should control his fire, remove all dirt that can be/ His sparks free from smoke should be. Before the introduction of tab water, people used to filter water through clay jars.
