I found a paper I wrote in a national geographic magazine in my room, it was me ranting about my feelings, it reads: āYou canāt change who you are. You can change aspects of yourself and try to improve or abolish certain characteristics but there is always that underlying āyouā. People can tell you that who you are isnāt right, that you should change. This is really hard because we value other peopleās opinions over our own most of the time. We can spend our entire lives trying to fit this mold of normality, popularity, constantly failing to contain our initial thoughts and emotions. But what would happen if we just did what we felt, fell into our urges, passions, and desires? Our urges to tell people what we like and dislike, following the footsteps of our passions whether it be art, music, or science. And what if we narrowed our gaze on our hearts deepest desires? We would succeed. Success would be this diverse thing, making it impossible to fail. We could be who we are to the deepest level and never look down on that. We would have a confidence that radiated and glowed. Happiness would at last be attainable. But society has crushed us. We are sedated and programmed and when we falter or malfunction we break down and they diagnose you with depression, or anxiety. No shit we become depressed or anxious, our standards are too high for even the tallest human to reach. Nobody can be this mannequin and have a healthy brain. Nobody can succeed or be truly happy in a world with endless manufactured etiquette and guidelines that define you as a whole.

I think we need to address the fact that we have built a society where families canāt survive without both parents working full time outside of the home.
If the cost of living wasnāt so damn high, parents would be able to look after their own children.
We need rent caps, a living wage, an acknowledgement that bringing up children is real work and has value to society, to work far less hours in a weekā¦
There is no reason your average family should struggle to make ends meet in the way that so many do.Ā
Capitalism benefits from people being poor and exhausted, but it isnāt necessary.
Dollyās absolute amazingness aside⦠She is who she wants to be, and shows herself as she wants to. Anyone who sees her as a joke is in fact the joke themselves and Iām quite happy to laugh at them.
The real joke is that sheās the one finding it, not the government.
She purposely does this, yāall. I have been fascinated by her for years and she has purposely crafted this and people reacting like this is her intention. She is a master. Like, how many country artists can get away with openly being a queer ally and funding AIDS research and COVID research and all this other stuff and yet still I defy you to find a personāno matter how conservativeāwho will say anything worse than āsheās trashyā to youābut it canāt even insult her because she says sheās trashy!! She is so good at this yāall. A master at the whole concept of reclaiming and owning oneās image. All hail Dolly.
An American icon. A hero.
