Emerald eyes widened as the child looked around then at the sea queen. A child out of school, (not that she was allowed to attend) and without her mother. Impossibly long sunshine tresses almost hid her from view, but it hadn’t been enough.

“R- Rapunzel, Your Majesty,” She swam forward. hopefully there would be little questions asked.

Today was a very special day, the day all merfolk flocked to the surface for the presentation of Athena’s first grandchild.

The sea queen could barely contain her excitement as she rose from the sea by Triton’s side, Smiling at her youngest daughter, Athena embraced Ariel and Eric in turn.

“Eric, it’s good to see you,” Athena smiled trying not to stare at the baby in Ariel’s arms.

Eric beamed as he and Ariel left the bridge of the ship, his wife carrying their daughter as they presented her to her parents. He nodded respectfully to his father-in-law, and returned his mother-in-law’s embrace with a smile. “It’s good to see you too, Your Majesty.” he replied, wrapping an arm around Ariel as he returned to her side. The sailor noticed the Sea Queen gazing at Melody, and exchanged a glance with Ariel, who nodded with a smile and handed the baby over to him. “Would you like to hold her?” he asked.

“I would be honored,” Athena beamed, holding out her arms for her grandchild the sea queen’s heart fluttered in her chest as she took the baby from her daughter.

“She’s beautiful, I am so proud of you both.”
