Duffy woke as the light began to filter its way through the curtians, she sighed as she rolled over and smiled when she saw Charlie lying beside her.
“Morning!” She whispered as he gazed down at her “good morning!” He grinned leaning down to place a kiss into her lips.
“Awful” she joked, giggling as he began to frown “last night was worth the 3 decade wait!” She responded more seriously as she moved herself closer to rest her head against his chest.
Charlie ran his hand through her hair, he was just about to respond as the phone rang, breaking them from their moment.
Duffy sighed as she moved herself to see the caller, she muted the call and placed the phone face down on the cabinet before turning back to face Charlie.
“who was that?” He asked already knowing the answer as she sighed “no one!” She lied as she place her head back on his chest.
“it was Ryan wasn’t it?” He asked, she sighed again before he felt her nod against his chest.
“I asked him for a divorce, last week. And ever since he hasn’t stopped calling!!” She admitted, and Charlie felt her body begin to tense at the thought of her soon to be ex husband.
“you should answer it? It might stop him from pestering you if he hears your voice!” He stated as the phone rung again and she shook her head.
“it won’t, besides I don’t want to think, or talk about him right now! Not while I’m enjoying this time with you!” She admitted with a smile as she snuggled closer into his side.
They lay for a while enjoying each other’s close company before Duffy broke the silence.
“Is that from when you were shot?!” She asked gently running her fingertips lightly over the scar he had on his chest “indeed!” he replied as she tilted her head up to face him.
“does it hurt?” She asked as he shook his head “it did but not anymore” he replied with a smile as she placed a delicate kiss onto the scar before leaning up and placing another long kiss onto his lips.
"We need to get ready for work!” She sighed pulling away a few minutes later.
“can I take you out tonight? Dinner somewhere nice?” He asked as she smiled shyly “I’d like that” she admitted as he kissed her one final time.
Charlie placed his hand on her knee as the pulled into the car park, squeezing it gently to get her attention.
“we’re ok?” He questioned as she looked up.
“why wouldn’t we be?” She asked a look of confusion on her face.
“no second thoughts? I mean I’d understand if….” He was cut off as Duffy pressed her lips to his “idiot” she whispered “of course I haven’t. Why have you?” She suddenly started to panic as he quickly shook his head.
“good, because now. Now you’re stuck with me!” She reassured, “oh great” he teased as she leant over and placing another long kiss onto his lips.
She shook her head as she pulled away “pinks not really your colour” she giggled, wiping the lipstick from his lips as he smiled, kissing her again before she got out the car.
“although, that might have been amusing to see you explain” she joked leaning back into the car slightly before closing the door.
He laughed as he watched her walk into the hospital, grinned to himself as he recalled there night and how lucky he was.
