unpopular throam opinion

i have something to SAY, fellas. i think that how people perceive throam!ryan is unfair to the character. sure, anna kinda made him an asshat on purpose, but there’s DEPTH to it. it wasn’t only because he was in love, or because he wanted brendon and couldn’t have him. it was because he was he’s defensive of himself, and he’s been trained to fight back. so he didn’t get what he wanted, and put up a fucking FIGHT for brendon. because when people told him to get over it, or when people thought he was crazy- it only fueled his fire. brendon isn’t disposable to ryan, brendon’s worth the fight. ryan fought for brendon and that’s how we know he was in love. he wouldn’t have fought so hard and desperately if he wasn’t in love. ryan needs some fucking CREDIT for how much he wore himself out whilst fighting for brendon. please, give throam!ryan some props. so yeah, that’s what keeps me up at night.

100% AGREED! people always say ryan was manipulative and selfish (which is kinda true) but they tend to forget his past. his abusive father, internalized homophobia, constantly being left by people he cared about etc. so when he was finally able to accept himself and be himself he wasn’t ready to give that up again, hence doing EVERYTHING to keep brendon from leaving him. and that’s why it ruined him when he did.

he made some bad choices but only because people had treated him badly basically his entire life.
