Excel Hack: How to Transpose Rows and Columns Like a Pro!
Ever started working on a dataset in Excel only to realize… your rows should’ve been columns? 😅
Yep, been there. Good news: there are two super easy ways to fix it, and I’m breaking them down right here.
✨ Method 1: The Classic Copy-Paste (Static Transpose)
Sometimes, you just need a quick flip. This method is perfect for one-time adjustments.
Select the data you want to flip.
Right-click the new location.
Choose Paste Special > Transpose.
📌 Note: This creates a static copy, so if your original data changes, the transposed version won't update.
🔄 Method 2: Use the TRANSPOSE Function (Dynamic)
Want your flipped data to update automatically? This one’s for you!
(Replace ARRAY with your actual range.)
➡️ If you're using Excel 365 or Excel 2019+, just press Enter.
➡️ On older versions, press Ctrl + Shift + Enter to make it an array formula.
Boom! Now your data stays live and synced.
I use this all the time when cleaning up messy exports or prepping reports.
