40k assistance?

So I’ve been a fan of 40k for awhile now. I’ve read books and watched battle reports but now I’m considering getting into the minis. I just don’t know where to start. Any guidance on learning to play or where to start would be appreciated!

Well, what sort of army are you planning on starting?

Honestly, the the first thing you should be looking at is some kind of box set with a large amount of models to get you started; something like the Start Collecting! sets or some kind of army deal box.

As for playing, the first place I’d look for is your local Games Workshop store, I’m sure that are plenty of players who would love to have people learn how to play the game! And the manager would definitely be able to help you find the army you want to start. If you can’t find one, then games workshop has a store locator for places that sell their products!

Also, if you can’t find the time to do so, then I’d just look up “how to play Warhammer 40k 8th edition” on YouTube!

I was thinking Chaos or ‘Nids but from what I understand, ‘Nid armies tend to have a ton of minis which might be overwhelming at first.

I was looking at the Death Guard Start Collecting boxes despite not being a huge fan of them. It would be a start.

I will definitely have to look to see if there are any Games Workshop stores or really any gaming stores near by.

And trust me, if you love the army you have, I don’t think assembling and painting them would be a problem (well, assembly for me wasn’t a problem lol)

I wasn’t aware that there was a start collecting box for death guard, but really there are plenty of really good start collecting boxes!

This is true but I figure I should start small and work my way up but who knows what will happen. I’m trying to ease myself in

Upon further research, there is not. I was probably thinking about the Dark Imperium box set or the Daemons of Nurgle box.

Anyways, starting small is a very good idea, and should help you get a feel for what you want to build.

If you’re going with Chaos Space Marines, then I absolutely suggest the Start Collecting Box for that; it’s got everything you need to start out: An HQ A troops choice And a really good vehicle unit.

if your going chaos the start collecting is the best choice if you’re not sure what god to go with or want to be undivided. the hq has plenty of options and can be made a sorcerer and the helbrute has a wide range of weapons to chose from, really the basic squad is the only let down with its heavy weapon. if u want death guard go for the easy bulid sets and if u want small first strike or Know no fear sets

WIP dark apostle

not much to say about him, base is the limited chaplain from dark vengeance. the head is a modified leftover helbrute head, not happy with the replacement i made for the crozius.

Exalted champion

i finished this during the global campaign but never got around to taking any pictures. i’m quite happy with how he came out, not quite a lord but far above the veterans in standing amongst a war band. the base of the model is a sanguinary priest.

it took awhile to choose what i wanted to make the champion from without making him too corrupted physically. to get the claw into that position i had to cut the arm just after the elbow so i could re-position it.

Finished assembling the Hostile Environment Cadians squad! I love this kit, my main complaint with Cadians is that they always felt “naked.” This fixes the problem completely!

Chaos spawn WIP

two of three chaos spawn i’m currently working on, i brought the crypt flayers kit to steal the wings for another project and decided to turn the bodies into spawn as i don’t play AoS

This is 2000 points of guardians of the covenant that hopefully will be used next year in tournaments if I can find ones locally. Will be replacing the rhino and pred when I can afford to as they are from nearly 8 years ago and built very badly with about 6 different layers of paint on them

Pulled an all night er last night to get these finished before my 2nd battle of 8th today. Full death guard from dark imperium with hellbrute and cultists from dark vengeance allied with kharn, beserkers, marines and chosen from DV as well 100 power points on the dot. The world eaters still need painting obviously but that’s for another day as might not even use them yet for this battle. Ino my painting is pretty shite but if you saw the state of the beserkers before I resprayed them you’d think these were done by a different person

Here they are in all there painted glory, a mix of mark III, mark IV and a basic chaos squad mixed together. the modern launchers are left overs from dark angels veterans and a loyalist dev squad.
