“sure, they’re PRETTY cool. it still stands that i’m COOLER.”

carter smiled as he sat down, only then making full use of her arms. after brushing a few stray hairs behind her ear, she chewed on the bottom of her lip, contemplating the best way to explain how her power ‘WORKED.’

“it’s nothing like avatar. no martial arts involved,” she said with a humored laugh. “it’s like … i dunno, i just FEEL it. i feel the ground move and shift and it’s almost as though i’m part of it– i mean, earth is STUBBORN, y’know? but i’m MORE stubborn. so it does what i say. sometimes i have to gesture–”

one hand lifted and twisted at the wrist, and automatically a cluster of stones rose into the air and began to circle the duo.

“–and other times, i just DON’T.”

“        so, i suppose calling you TOPH is out of the question?        ”

it was a semi-serious question, though he was probably going to call her that whether she liked it or not, just to be an ass. he dropped the rocks he was holding, which fell to the ground with a satisfying crunching sound. returning his hands to his knees, he toyed with the ripped holes in his jeans. wearing clothes wasn’t entirely necessary, but he admittedly felt a little ashamed with his mutation. his form was strong enough to withstand light clothing with no need for any stronger focus, and it made him feel just slightly more human.

“        i’m the TECHNOMANIAC, but you can just call me BUZZ.        ”

carter’s smile turned dazzling as she looked up at him, dark eyes dropping down to the slowly rotating rocks before her. with a careful gesture from the fingers of her right hand, they stilled, before dropping to the gravel between the two of them. a blush had risen in her cheeks at his mention of ‘awe’ (seldom did she remember that people were still impressed by mutations) before she looked up at him and smiled even wider.

“terrakinetic, is the TECHNICAL term for it, but yeah– i’m basically an earthbender. but COOLER.”

“        i don’t know, earthbenders are pretty COOL.        ”

he invited himself to sit next to her, with his knees up and his hands fidgeting on top of them. even though he no longer had the physical symptoms of things like anxiety, he found the old habits and mental work up hard to get rid of. he looked down at the rocks, picking up a few and moving them around his digitized palm. there was a disconnect between him and the earth, and he both didn’t mind it and found it increasingly frustrating.

“        so, how does it work? do you harness the ENERGY of the stones? or is it just doing a few MARTIAL ARTS moves and a slab comes out of the ground?        ”

She was supposed to be meditating. She’d sat herself down in the middle of the Mansion’s garden, legs crossed, hands curled palms-up on her knees, eyes closed, her posture and facial features relaxed. The only thing that made the scene off was the trio of rocks she had swirling in a circle just between her hands. The only thing that drew her out – not that she was focusing that much on her ‘inner self’ in the first place – was when she felt eyes upon her. Dark eyes flickered open and she smiled amiably up at her visitor. “Take a picture. It’ll last longer,” she said good-naturedly.

“        i’m more in AWE than anything.        ”

even before he had found out he was a mutant, he had never been able to meditate. his mind was always wandering, doing at least 20 things at once. buzz walked over to the meditating girl and watched the rocks spinning. there was something tranquil with someone idly using their mutation. without meditating, he could admit he did find it relaxing exploring the internet in a way no one else could, even if he wasn’t looking for something. 

“        your power is, what? you’re an EARTHBENDER?         ”

         the TECHNOMANIAC watched the other carefully, a raised brow and a slight smirk upon their face. they knew very well who this person was, an ASGARDIAN, judging by the armor, and a great warrior at that. still, they could not resist making such a comment at her.
