Now that it is officially announced role model be a part of season 2 of heated rivalry, I want to push for Troy Barrett to be south asain.

Jacob said Troy is a damaged character (I can’t remember his exact wording) and wants to explore it more in the show and I think it would be done so well by a south asain actor.

Troy being more macho when he is around his dad or when he wasn’t on Ottawa centaurs reminds me so much of a queer south asain person hiding themselves to live up to the traditional values of their immigrant parents.

And yes, you don’t just have to be a POC to understand that, but Canada has big population of brown culture and heated rivalry seems to be a great show to have a little bit of that.

Anyways that is my headcanon, also why I never understood why people cast Jack innanen as Troy. To me, he was always Wyatt Hayes and I hope that’s true

Also why am I posting as if any of this matters to the casting process. Maybe they’ve already casted and there is an up and coming Canadian actor handing in his resignation letter at a Tim Hortons

One change I want in season 2 that not necessary to the plot but is a headcanon I fully believe:

Shane and Ilya print off the pictures they send each other and keep it in a box under their beds in Montreal and Ottawa.

I understand them being cautious and deleting it in the book, but I hate that. Also it’s very clear that due to their relationship their respective houses aren’t communal hangout spots for their hockey teams or large networks of people.

SO LET THEM KEEP THE FREAKING PICTURES!!!

I hate thinking of Shane and Ilya when they’re texting each other and send a pic and then Shane is like delete that.

Plane scene would go so hard if after Shane knows Ilya is ok he pull out the box of pictures Ilya sent him over the years and just sobs because he had to think about losing the best part of his life.

And I believe Ilya Rozanov has a printer in his house, maybe in an office room for the sole purpose of printing of pics of Shane Hollander.

I saw videos of hockey players body checking players into the boards and people saying that’s how they imagine Ilya Rozanov body checking in games to rage bait the other team, and I totally see it. But how the hell is Ilya body checking Shane?

Is he going at the same force as he does with other player???

Cause I have seen clips where player are checked so hard they bounce off the boards and fall on the ice back first, and I imagine Ilya doing that but never to Shane. (Not on the ice, ayyyyy)

So like do you think there are people in the game changers universe that catch onto Ilya roughly body checking players but not body checking Shane as rough?? And being like wtf??? Why is Ilya soft for Shane?? They’re supposed to be rivals??

Also I know the reason that people don’t realize this is because the hockey audience doesn’t make connections like that but wouldn’t it be obvious??

Post TLG head canon (post unrivalled headcanon really) - Hollanov x Laufey

Shane and Ilya are so gonna be girl dads and even after they have adopted a daughter Shane still really isn’t into music but Ilya and their daughter are. They love dancing around and Shane loves to watch them.

One time their daughter shows Shane a pop jazz artist, Laufey. She’s really into Laufey and loves her vibe and all that stuff and Shane just encourages cause of course he would. But admittedly, he doesn’t really get it because again he’s ‘mr. I don’t get music’…

Until he hears haunted and he flashes back to his 19/20 year old self with Ilya where he kept thinking after every hook up it would be the last but it never was.

I think for the first time since having this complete life, Shane feels a level of dread he hasn’t experienced in years and that’s what makes him understand how moving music can be.

My prediction for a potential plot in Unrivaled:

I dont remember if it was explicitly mentioned in TLG if Ilya and Shane play on the ice together for Ottawa Centaurs or if Shane only comes on the ice when Ilya goes off because they’re both centers.

If this is the case, then I would like it to be a thing that Ilya becomes wing so Shane and him can play on the same line together.

But this causes a stir in the hockey podcast community who think that Ilya is a better center and this was the wrong move for Ottawa Centaurs (really it’s just them being homophobic and not wanting to see them play together cause they think it’s disgusting)

And we see how Shane and Ilya navigate that backlash with not only people online but also out of pocket questions at the pre and post game interviews.

This wouldn’t be the major plot but I think this would be a great example of the hockey community being against them but disguising it as critique and it feeding into the major backlash they face. And what they overcome to win the Stanley cup together!!

Cornplating energy:

- Shane and Yuna’s dialogue in ep. 1 is with their face in the shadows/nosebleed of the arena as they talk about sponsorships and Shane being an ambassador for not only hockey but young Asian Canadians. Shane feeling shame for keeping a secret and not completely‘representing’ Asian-Canadians possibly could be what that darkness represents.

And then in the last episode we have their heart felt dialogue from both sides after Shane came out. Shane doesn’t have anymore secrets he’s hiding from his family and they are doing it with little perfectly. In. The. Light.

SECOND CORNPLATE

- Shane and Rose’s first conversation is with half lit faces. Is that because, Shane does feel attraction to Rose but in a platonic way but not romantic and physical like with Ilya?

Maybe, because in ep. 5 rose talking to Shane about sexuality has more brightness. Rose understands Shane more and Shane accepts more about himself. There is a darkness that is gone but it is there a little bit…
