i’m ted, but theo is fine if you prefer that. he/him, please
i’m under 20, but i won’t post my exact age for privacy reasons. i am an adult tho
this blog is dedicated to miss peregrine’s home for peculiar children and it is about 95% of my posts, but like once every week or so i might post about whatever game leeds rhinos are playing. i finished the first trilogy mid-november 2024, the second mid-december 2024
my inbox is always open, but my dms are mostly closed
The thing about me is that; Fiona, Horace and Millard could betray peculiardom, they could kill everyone, they could commit heinous war-crimes, everything above; I don't think I could care. In fact, I could go as far as to say; everyone probably did something to deserve it.
They're my perfect little angels, and I think they deserve a little bit of screwing around and dooming everyone. To me.
here is some fun things i added or did, why i did them, etc etc; just some behind the scenes stuff
- this is supposed to be in the time frame where miss peregrine was kidnapped/kept in bird form. it is so terribly heartbreaking to think that she most likely assumed that the wights had taken them all, or even worse, they had been killed. she'd have no way of knowing until her saving.
- the order of apperances from the wards if you could not tell (though i would hope you can lol): emma, olive/claire, millard, bronwyn, horace, hugh/fiona, enoch, jacob. the only one that was deliberately placed was jacob, the rest are randomized mostly picked in the spots they are due to colors.
- speaking of jacob, if you noticed, he is slightly blurried/messed up compared to everyone else. that is because since miss peregrine is kidnapped early on in the series, she wouldn't quite trust or understand jacob, but she would still care for his safety just as if he had been with her for years.
- bronwyn has a slight green spot floating behind her (with an even lighter blue glow inside of it). that is victor, more specifically, his spirit.
- i wanted to really try to give them all different running looks to them based off how i do think they would run. example, horace looks more loose and not as controlled compared to emma, given he does not frequently run or enjoy running. i did accidently give olive/claire and hugh/fiona basically the same pose though.
- some musical info here so im not sure if this will make complete sense to everyone lol, but the song is in 3/4 and each rhythmic restart in the main melody highlighted has exactly 8 main beats with 3 minor beats in each main, which is repeated twice (why each character is shown twice). while i do think miss p would think individually of each, in order to satisfy this pattern, i had to double up a few, and it made the most sense to do that to olive/claire and hugh/fiona.
- the small doodles took me longer to draw that the intricate peregrine. i kept messing up on the colors, mostly bronwyn and millard, in which i had to redo both of them 3 times.
- i picked all of their (the kids) colors based off of my personal preferences of what color i associate each of them with :)
What does the chalk mean? I was curious because you mentioned it...
In each fanart, the chalk changes hands; in the first version, it's in Fiona's hand.
She designed the whole world around Hugh, she made it all perfect and cozy, they are part of it, she is the reason for his happiness. The chalk world is just a drawing, but both are real.
—💚🌷💚—
In the second version, Hugh is the one holding the chalk.
The world is still what Fiona drew, but she's not there, and he had to draw her. Now, like everything around them, she's just a memory. The perfect chalk world never existed, but the two of them did, they loved each other, and in the midst of that world of lies, only they existed. But now Hugh is alone.
All my art has symbolism, but I don't usually explain it; it's all in the subtext.
made the table at like five in the morning and expanded with the xy graph later. strong dumb heart ass graph
note that strong of ass is less physical strength and more attitude. fugh were grouped as a collective but hugh is somehow both stronger and dumber of ass but that wasn’t on the graph
this makes significantly less sense every time i try to put it into words but notes:
i went more for wordplay and interpretationy reasons than set definitions of dumb of heart and strong of ass. that being said
dumb of heart strong of ass -> mean little fucker
strong of heart fugh = play on words bcs they’re in Love and that’s massive character things.
olive leans more towards the strong of ass instead of straight down the middle bcs of the childish playfulness
enoch is more strong of ass but millard is more dumb of heart, mostly because enoch is more likely to be a bitch on purpose
horace has more strong of heart in him bcs emotions
bronwyn is strongest of heart emma is close second
claire is less strong of heart because she’s like. in it less. also olive keeps jumping at every opportunity to save everyone so. heart
Saudade is a word that exists only in Portuguese and defines the longing for someone, the pain of absence, the nostalgia for what is no longer had; the body and mind yearn for something that is no longer there, that is only in the past and in your sweet memories. All that remains is the bittersweet feeling of a past joy that will not return, but which, thank heavens, you had the privilege of experiencing...
Hugh feels saudade for Fiona for most of this story.
the horace hate througout the entirety of the series is SO FORCED. genuinely who in their right mind would make fun of or look down on a child for being afraid during one of the the most if not the most horrific time of their lives? not only this, but other children are the ones that are usually making fun of him or looking down on him! for being scared? he should be! why isn't anyone else? the truth is, they all are. though for some reason, horace is the only one allowed to show it (and sometimes claire, though her fear is constantly justified since she is so young; makes me wonder why the same justification isn't given to horace who is also very young). it absolutely boggles me that riggs wrote every character to seem capable and brave in the face of danger, but horace, who is the only one that has realistic emotions to these situations, is shunned for his realistic emotions! everyone is constantly making jabs at him for being "cowardly", or "weak", or anything like that, when really, he should be the one calling everyone out for their lack of emotions. it is not realistic at all for children who are only a few years older than him, or even his age and/or younger than him, or even a dog, to think that he is strange for not seemingly wanting to "die for the cause" or whatever complex riggs seems to have gave all of these children. it's like riggs wanted to make horace seem "annoying" because "oh he's such a baby and he's so scared all the time" and we need a character to go against so that our main protagonists look better and more triumphant. but in reality, he just made everyone talk bad about a kid who, besides being honestly the bravest one of all given what he has to endure almost every night forever, is real in his worries about potentially getting hurt or dying or having other people suffer the same fates. it is not realistic at all for any of them to act like this constantly towards horace.
keep EVERYONE'S name out of this dog's mouth. i swear to birds i cannot remember ONE time he said anything good or positive about anyone or anything. the rudest most pessimist dog in the entire world over here. the story would have progressed the same without him too, or at least it could have. he's just thrown in for plot convenience and to be an asshole because riggs didn't think we had enough characters like that (meanwhile he regressed almost every other character to be assholes as the series went on).
i hate this dog. i hate addison machenry. yes he killed my family*.
(*my fictional family, aka almost all of the mphfpc kids)
i’ve remembered i have free will and can actually post whatever so here’s an updated post of the gang (i.e. my clown and doll collection). tumblr doesn’t have enough photos per post for them to have one each so i’ve just taken photos of how i display them in most cases
cw for dolls n clowns under the cut ❣️
bonus of my baby boy matthew because he’s new so it wasn’t a hassle to take him down and i love him so so so much
while i do think movie!horace has a cool ability compared to book!horace in the sense that he can project what he dreams, i am so grateful that book!horace does not have that ability. imagine you are movie!horace. and every. single. night. you are set up in front of your (found) family that you will be stuck with presumably for all eternity (also implying that you will be doing this for all eternity), and you have to project whatever dream or dreams you had the night before for all of them to see.
this kid. who is 13, more so 14 in the movie. has to show off his dreams. every night. forever. in front of his family.
i think if i was movie!horace.....id take my chances outside the loop. holy shit. either that or i would just pass out from embarrassment every time. that sounds like a punishment. not to mention, if we are taking into consideration that movie!horace is similar to that of book!horace in the sense that more than half the time he can't remember what he dreams about, he would be just as suprised as everyone else and that just makes it 10x worse.
i know they say in the movie that he usually dreams about clothes, which i assume horace wouldn't be embarrassed about. but. he won't...always? he's 13-14. he's bound to dream up some crazy shit that him and everyone else will be forced to watch for some reason. this is honestly a huge invasion of privacy, given he has to do it every night. i guess i can understand to a degree; they (miss peregrine) might not know what useful information he could have prophetically dreamed about regarding various things. but i fear there are better ways to go about this.
