You ask me why. Here are some reasons.
Your ability to laugh. Spontaneously, easily, infectiously. That so much delights you, so often, is a gift. One that you share with me so generously.
Your affection for animals. This extends to rodents, reptiles and insects, the latter of which you will spend an inordinate amount of time trying to corner, corral or capture, and then set free.
Your hard core work ethic. You never miss or are late for anything related to a job even if you’re sick, have had only two hours sleep, or are sitting in a cab at a dead stop in crosstown traffic, in which case you will walk/run/take the subway and still have time to spare.
Your respect for your body. That you’ve educated yourself on how best to maintain it, not out of vanity but a desire to always be your best self. You know when to push it, when to rest it, what to put into it and what you can get out if it, and you do it every single day.
Your seemingly limitless talents. You are a troubadour, a thespian and a whirling dervish, often simultaneously, always exquisitely, and are tireless in your endless pursuit of perfection in all of these.
That you are so. so. beautiful. From your blue black hair to your azure eyes to your ivory skin, to the peaks and valleys of your chiseled frame, you are heart stoppingly, achingly beautiful. And that you are completely unaffected by your own pulchritude, which makes you doubly so.
Your ability to love. Eagerly, openly, honestly and unconditionally, and that you ask for nothing in return but to be allowed to do so.
Your patience and persistence. Your willingness to work for, and wait for, what is important to you. That I am one of those things humbles me.
These are just some of the reasons why. Were there more hours in a day, the length of this list would be tripled and quadrupled.
But for now, take this and keep it with you.
