Light Up Fairy Jars

- a wood block (that you’re able to decorate and customize for your own identity)

- a set of battery operated fairy led lights - you can choose and mix your colors!

Homemade Dippin’ Dots

 In this activity, you will be making your own dipping dots by dropping melted ice cream into liquid nitrogen. The ice cream will freeze instantly, creating ice cream in the form of multiple little dots!

The activity shouldn’t take longer than 10 minutes. Preparation includes melting ice cream and pouring liquid nitrogen into a bowl. Make sure everything is as safe as possible. 

Materials (not aligned with video’s materials):

- Ice-cream, melted (tip: ice cream is a dairy product. rather than leave it out, place it in the fridge so it will soften and begin to melt.)

- Liquid nitrogen and storage (avoiding touching it directly with bare skin. it is very cold. treat it as if you are handling hot oil.)

- Two large metal bowls (one is for the liquid nitrogen, one is for the dippin’ dots.)

- Wire strainer 

- Large metal spoon 

- Insulated gloves

1 cup white flour

You might be surprised: bats don't always live in caves. Some bats spend winter months in caves, but most bats spend summers in trees, under bridges or in old buildings, where they give birth and rear young.

Interactive Bat House

Audience: Girl Scout Troop - twelve 5-12 year old girls and 3 adults

Purpose: Educating about bats, their habitat, and bat conservation trough technology.

Process: Girl scouts build 3 bat houses with help of adults.  We add infrared sensor technology to count the number of bats currently in the bat house as well as a night vision camera and a microphone inside to record the activity of the bats.  The bat houses will be placed in different locations.  We will periodically regroup to record and monitor the data and determine the ideal location for bat houses.

Outcome: Use interactive technology to receive and evaluate data and build a 3 dimensional structure.

Description: In a container fill with salt water and water with a few drops of food coloring. Drop a golf ball into the container and watch the experiment happens. To make more fun fill two separate containers, one with water and the other with salt water. Water Bottle Rockets!

This activity is giving Middle school students the ability to design and launch a “rocket”. The way that it works is when air is pushed into the bottle to generate enough force to cause the rocket be launched into the sky!

This activity will take about 1 hour and 30 minutes to prepare the launch pad for the rocket.

The Rocket itself wil take about 20 minutes.
