2, 5, 6, 7 and 12 for the Saint Seiya ask game!
I want to preface this by warning everyone in general I'm far more of a The Lost Canvas buff than a proper Saint Seiya original powerhouse, so I'm going to be answering for both of those! If you were particularly looking for answers for the original though, disregard the second part for each of these questions. FHKSGDFDGS
Okay, limiting myself to just one is going to be difficult. I will say my all time fave from original is probably a Gold Saint, so I'll leave that for the next question? But I've always had my little collection of favorites - I've always loved Shun, Alberich and Sorrento absolutely delight me, for example! Those are the first three that come to mind! :)
If we're talking The Lost Canvas though, I also have a difficult time choosing, but outside of Gold Saint territory I'm going to have to go with Alone. I have been absolutely enthralled by that artist since I was around Seven Years Old. HFGHKFDGSH
I have to admit the Gold Saints are 100% my main draw when it comes to Saint Seiya, I'm very focused on them and their dynamics and such, but my favorite has always been Milo. Love them all, don't get me wrong, but he's always been so eyecatching to me. I'm not even a Scorpio he's just That Good. KHGFSHFGDHS
Following the same pattern, my favorite from The Lost Canvas is probably Kardia, though I have to admit that Defteros and Asmita come really, Really close to his podium. I just have this particular little soft spot for Kardia in particular.
Oh I'm not too controversial when it comes to ships I am One Basic Bitch FGSDHKFGDSHK My favorite is probably Camus and Milo, though. At the very least they're the ones I've spent the most time reading (and writing) about. Somewhere out there there's an almost 11000 words, 12 chapters unfinished fanfiction about them that I wrote like 8 years ago, so I think that speaks for itself?
Following the same formula, for The Lost Canvas Dégel and Kardia absolutely consume me, specifically in the context of Kardia growing attached far easier, far sooner than Dégel does and then Dégel having to deal with the thought of what that must've meant considering Kardia's literally living with borrowed time, but I have to admit that Defteros and Asmita are such close runnerups including them as a shoutout in the "other ships" category feels like it's not giving them enough weight. HKFGSHKFH Shout out to Tenma and Alone too, because at this point there is so much to read into I've had people tell me they're unsure as to whether or not they were canonized by certain translations.
If I had to start listing I'd be here all day I fear. Again, I'm pretty consistently a Basic Bitch when it comes to shipping in Saint Seiya specifically, so expect some Hyoga and Shun, some Aldebaran and Mu, some Complicated Guilt Fueled Yearning Aioros and Saga, although lately I've been in a real Julian and Sorrento kick. When it comes to the yuri side of things, I have had my eyes open to Shaina and Geist relatively recently though I do also dabble in Shaina and Marin, but I also have my own soft spot for Aioria and Marin so at this point not worrying about things like Continuity or Consistency is my most beautiful blessing. FKHSFGHKDSGHKSF
Same with the Lost Canvas in the terms of not shaking a lot of things up! Dohko and Shion are absolute staples, I follow the same philosophy of disregard Consistency or Continuity because while I may like Manigoldo and Albafica there is something Undeniable about Minos and Albafica too, I hold my Aiacos and Violate hetslop very dearly, I've mentioned at least a couple times before I am deep in my El Cid and Sisyphus agenda, but I will also take a moment to shout out Hasgard and Cor Tauri. That Gaiden read as so tender to me.
This will not be at all a comprehensive list because I have many that have been floating around my brain for more than a decade so at this point I'm just going to mention a couple that come to mind, but I will no doubt add more when I answer this question again (I'll get to that).
I hold in my heart that Mu wears glasses when he's working or reading, because he's been forcing his eyesight to focus on little details for so long that he's worsened it on accident.
Alone suffers from OCD, more particularly Moral Scrupulosity OCD, which is what made him such a perfect target to become a vessel for Hades, but also, in a way, what made him resist from being fully taken over for as long as he did. He was raised Catholic, so once someone he understood as a Catholic Authority guided him to the conclusion he was much of a Messiah figure himself, rather than letting the full proper possession take place, he ended up acting how his moral code thought he should act like in response, accidentally preventing Hades from fully taking over.
Kardia is functionally illiterate - due to the circumstances of his childhood he never really got the chance to learn how to write or read properly, which is what fuels most of his spite towards Unity in the first place, more from a place of insecurity than an actual good justification for his outburst.
El Cid took that name once he took the Cloth and the oath to protect Athena because he shares a name with the actual historical figure of El Cid Campeador, Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar.
I'll probably come up with some more of these when I respond to the other ask that was sent to me - Metz, if you're seeing this, I love you so much, you picked Such difficult ones for me to answer I have been Thinking and Pondering thoroughly. It will not go unanswered, I promise, it's just. You really know which ones to press me on huh. KHFGSDHKFGDSHK
