And I’m not sure my arms are still where they should be. So if you could please back off, I’m just trying to get my shit together. Sorry if I fucking stared too hard.”

“Aw, what’s your problem princess?” Cory didn’t recognize her though many people started to just look like a blur - they came in, conquered and went out before his own eyes.

“Seriously? Princess?” She couldn’t believe his complete lack of empathy. “Just for starters, the same you will address me by is Tegan. But secondly... who pissed in your cheerios?”

“How sad.” He shakes his head, little lost lambs always looking so feeble and poignant but he keeps his mouth shut for now. “Well the exit’s not too far from where you are right now, but you’ll probably get lost again. Might as well stick around for a bit.”

Taking a breath, his face came back into view, then his body, then the room. She grinned, “You’re not far from the truth. So fuck it. Why not.” Her huddled shoulders dropped and her hand massaged her temples as her eye closed. “How long have you been here?  ...In the hospital I mean.”

“Okay, wait, so - we can’t even keep our toothbrushes? How am I - or do we, like, get them when we need them? So I have to ask for it?” He shook his head in disbelief. He had heard that Glendale was quite strict rule-wise, but he hadn’t expected it to be like this. “That’s, uh - interesting, I guess.”

Tegan was amused to watch someone process a situation in a similar fashion to what she was used to dealing with. “You’ll get used to it.” She smiled and sat back in her chair. “Don’t worry, I’m new here too. But so far no one has died,” she added jokingly.

birdie wanted to disappear. more than anything. she just wanted to be in te safety of her own bed, hiding under the covers. she didn’t want to be in a stupid fucking mental hospital. this place alone was torture, let alone all of the horrible things she’d have to do. they wanted to make her eat. she couldn’t do that. she couldn’t gain weight. it would kill her.  “ yeah, whatever.”

The sudden and short answer confused Tegan. There was no room in her mind to deal with someone else’s issues at the moment when her own were keeping her from knowing whose body this was. “I’m sorry, but if being around other people is an issue, please feel free to move on.” Tegan leaned against a nearby wall, lifting her head back and closing her eyes in hopes that the hallway would stop shifting under her feet.

Tegan could see herself looking at this man. But it wasn’t her. But it was. Her mind trailed off as she attempted with all of her mental capacity to come back to the conversation. “What makes these sex scenes so captivating exactly?”

“What was your big clue?” Alec smiled, watching the blonde’s face as she struggled to take in her surroundings. The girl looked high or something, but Alec supposed it was some sort of medication she’d been put on. It had to be something strong for her to not be sure she was in a library despite her surroundings. “Are you uh- okay, kid? You need a tour guide or somethin’?” He joked.

Tegan stared at the man speaking, but felt as if she was looking right through him. As if she could reach out and he would not actually be there. “I’m fine. Just trying to take in the new surroundings.”  Without her realizing it her hand did in fact rise and begin to slowly reach towards his arm.

“No, you’re in men’s bathroom.” He grumbles as he flips through a book that he doesn’t really care about. He doesn’t like libraries, he just goes in here so he can get away from most people. Lesser of two evils right? “Did you get lost or something?”

Her eyes darted around trying to make sense of the environment. Shit. Not again. “No, sorry- Well I mean, yeah I’m lost.” She forced a small smile, “I really couldn’t even tell you how I got to this point...”

“Um… 1:32 pm.” he replied, checking the clock that was nailed to the wall. Rowan found her words and smile hard to believe, but he supposed it wasn’t really his place to call her out on it. He figured she must have been trying to put a brave face for a reason.  “Well, I can help you to the clinic or your room if you need to lay down.” he offered, He closed his book for a moment, before turning his attention to her again. “You like to read?”

1:32 pm, okay. You’ve only been here for 15 minutes.Not bad... Tegan settled back into the chair. “No, really. I’m okay now. Thank you though. She watched as her hands reached out to a nearby stack of books someone left out on the table. Pretending to read through each title, she grabbed the first book on top. “I used to,” she stared at the book in her hands, “I just have kind of a hard time concentrating now.” Tegan made another attempt to come back to reality, “So what book are you reading currently?”

Truth be told, Rowan had never been much of a reader but it seemed that reading was one of the few worthwhile activities here in Glendale. It was nice too, not having to hear about patients yelling or guards trying to act like they are the shit. Everyone kind of kept to themselves in the library, so when he noticed someone sit next to him, Rowan couldn’t help but look over at the girl. “ Damn. What gave it away?” Rowan asked, sarcasm evident in his voice as he grinned over at the girl. His grin faded lightly, once noticing that the girl looked pretty disoriented. “You okay? Are you lost or something?”

Tegan coughed slightly to cover up her surprise hearing someone so close. “No, I’m okay.” She put her fingers through her hair and adjusted in the chair. Not knowing how long her body was sitting there she asked with much concern, “Do you know what time it is? I’m not lost, I just lost the time. That’s all.” She tried to put forth a genuine smile, with maybe just too much effort. She suddenly realized that she was observing this conversation from nearby, but not in her own body.

“Okay…if you need to lie down let me know we have beds.” He said in a gentle voice. “I’m a nurse, I work in here. I don’t really like to go around the facility unless it’s for food, coffee, or a smoke.”

She welcomed the idea of laying down, but was at least mentally strong enough to appear as if she had it together. “I know I couldn’t really ask it of you, but I could really go for a smoke right now.” She bit her lip, remembering her last cigarette, only 8 hours ago. “What’s your name?”

“Shit. Okay, well I guess I’ll try later.” She ruffled her brow, “What kind of dumb ass lets themselves get sucked into that?” A bit embarrassed by her current situation, she didn’t want this stranger to know of her life directly before the hospital.

“Oh okay..” he nodded a little, going back to organizing medical supplies in the cabinets. “I work in here, I’m always here. You can stay it’s fine.” He said nonchalantly, but when she fell back into the chair he got a tad worried. “Are you alright? Do you need to lie down?”

“No, no I’m okay. I’ll just sit here for a minute.” She couldn’t tell where her body was going, but she had learned by now that it was too much stress to worry about it anyways. “Why spend so much time here?” Tegan couldn’t mentally take in much of the room past the books and what she could now make out near the man as a cabinet.

“Well you’re sitting now. You feel better?” He asked in a quiet voice, trying to not get too loud since it was a library. “Really? Even better. The story is so so dull but the sex scenes are amazing honestly. Even if the writing sucks.”

“Yeah, I lost my way back to my room.” She let our a small giggle. “I honesty don’t know if I’ve ever read that. But I’m glad I could make the story better. What’s it all about?”

Apollo nodded a little as the woman stated the obvious. “Yup…it’s the library.” He had his face stuck in Fifty Shades of Grey, which was a shitty book but he wasn’t really reading it for the plot. “You lost or something?”

She took a sharp breath in realizing that someone was nearby. “No, sorry. I just needed to sit down for a moment.” You’re here. She tried to remind herself. Here. Shifting the hair out of her face, Tegan made her best attempt to sound nonchalant. “Not to spoil you’re book, but I bet they all die in the end.”
