Ansley was kind of suprised by his tone. She shouldn’t have even approached in the first place, probably. She sighed, trying to come up with something good, a good excuse for talking to someone who was probably content with just being by themselves.”You looked lonely.” She stated, quietly. “That’s all, and I wanted to introduce myself.”

“Well, I’m not.” Or at least he keeps telling himself that. He just doesn’t like talking to a lot of people as he usually suspects the end of the tunnel before the conversation even began to delve through, it’d be filled with annoyance from his part. “Introduce yourself then.” He says, which is probably a lot friendlier than his previous remark. “Don’t make me do it first.”

He didn’t think he’d really bump into the man that hard, but his tone said otherwise. CJ flinched at it, clutching his book to his chest as he stuttered a response. “I-I didn’t m-mean to. M’sorry. I w-wasn’t th-thinking about a-anything. I-I j-just needed to g-get up.”

He clearly isn’t a fan of people like him. With such a large build and timid personality, he thinks what he’s doing is just some pathetic made up gimmick to gain attention and Tony hates when the attention isn’t on him. So looking at this man is enough to make him sneer. “Then don’t be so fucking sloopy. Jesus.” He frowns. “Can you at least speak without stuttering?”

Ansley needed help. She wished her medication worked. She wished her anxiety didn’t cause her to worry about irrational things. She wished her borderline personality didn’t make her react irrationally to irrational thoughts. If all her wishes came true, she wouldn’t be here.  But unfortunately, she wasn’t living in a Disney movie. Two weeks prior to checking in, she had a fight with her room mate. This lead to a long discussion about Ansley’s mental health. A week before checking in, she dropped out of college and packed up all her stuff. She had to get help, it was the only option at this point. Now, she is here. Glendale Mental Health Institution. She’d only seen places like this in horror movies. But she didn’t think it was going to be like a horror movie, maybe because she knew she had to, and she wanted to, get better.  She sat, trying to get adjusted. Maybe people watching would help. She didn’t know yet. She watched every single person, wondering why they were here. Wondering if they knew what she felt like. Wondering if she finally wouldn’t be scared to connect with a few of them.  She looked around for maybe someone to talk to, finally approaching someone. She wasn’t sure if they we’re staff or a patient, as she didn’t pay attention to any introductions she may have had before. “Hi.” She said, trying to be friendly. How do you even introduce yourself to someone in a mental institution? Is this how? “I’m new here, about two hours new here.” 

Tony is lounging around, having had to suffer another awkward huddle with one of his therapists. They were beginning to pull up shit from their agenda, asking him questions about his past and trying to figure out if it would link with his so-called narcissism which he found utterly ridiculous. He isn’t a narcissist. He has grown up with confidence which was what his peers had helped him gain when his had decided to be a couple of jerks who couldn’t ever stay in one place. There’s nothing wrong with possessing confidence. These people are just stupid and they want to bring him down. With so much negativity coating his mind, it’s no surprise to find the young male in another broody state. He didn’t talk to anyone and snapped if he did. They weren’t worth his time. They wouldn’t understand. Gritting his teeth, he looks up to see a girl greeting him. Thinking, oh yet another one, he quickly rolls his eyes and crosses his arms. “What do you want?”

CJ sighed softly to himself as he stared down at the book in his lap. He couldn’t read it anymore. Doing so made him think about her and right now it was just too painful. He should give it back to the library, but he didn’t want to let go. CJ scrubbed his face before standing up slowly, stumbling as he knocked into someone. “S-Sorry. M’sorry,” he whispered, leaning over to grab the book where it’d dropped to the floor as he lost his balance.

“Watch where you’re going for, fuck’s sake.” Of course Tony isn’t in his best mood. His time here has been spent too long, while there are fragments of his mind that have been soothed, he still doesn’t think he needs to be here any longer. His parents need to stop playing around with him -- it’s ridiculous still how they’re locking him up in this place for drinking too much when they’ve always had more than enough themselves. His negativity is enough to spark constant anger and now he looks at the man like he’s a total nuisance. “The hell were you thinking?”

Amber nodded, crossing her arms over her chest. She clenched her fists, watching him, praying and hoping that he’d actually listen to her. But when he slammed down his tray of food, she screamed, a very loud scream. “No! You can’t just… I cleaned that.” Her chest moved up and down as she  tried her best to stay calm. Just push his tray off the table. Push him off the table. Running her hands through her hair, she shook her head. “No, no, no. Don’t you care that this place is nice while you’re here?” Wimp. You can do better than that. 

Tony flinches when she screams, not expecting it at first and the sound is piercing his ears. If they weren’t in such a public space he would’ve done something to shut her up. Alas, he doesn’t feel like getting thrown in solitary so holding back is the best he can do. “I don’t give a damn, no one should be telling me what to do. Not these staff and especially not silly little girl like you, get it?” He barks. “Now either shut the hell up or leave.”

Amber put her hands up, to protect the table she’d cleaned. “Can you please be careful with the table? I just picked every crumb off it. It’s perfect now, okay?” To know that the table was a mess drove her insane. It was bothering her, way too much. When she looked at it, she felt herself physically shaking, needing to make it perfect. So, picking each and every crumb off was exactly what she did. Each one went into the trash, ever so perfectly. “Be nice to the table.”

“Be nice to the table are you kidding me?” He almost shouts in disbelief. Sometimes it’s hard to make out just how ridiculous this place can be, it’s beginning to crawl under his skin. Tony’s just tired of hearing people complain about the most petty things. Without giving too much thought, he slams down his tray of food. “They have janitors to clean this shit. Move.”

Azreal had been drawing for a long time today. He’d just needed something to do instead of hiding in his room. Looking up after finishing drawing some alright drawings of his cats back home, he saw the other person in the room. “Hello. Would it be okay if I drew you?”

Tony has spent the last fifteen minutes watching people, which is one of his least favorite activites but there is nothing else he could do and he’d rather do this than actually going out there and mingling with them. He doesn’t like it when the attention is spread all over the place, he’d rather stand and bask in all of that on his own. Just when he thought he had finally gained peace, some guy’s voice pierced his ear and he frowns at the question. “As long as it’d be without any faults.”

To say she was nervous was an understatement. Ruth knew the ways of the world and accepted the fact that someone wasn’t going to like her — Solely for the fact that she had taken on the job as a chaplain, a religious leader. She had decided to roam the hallways, inviting people to all she had planned to start up. Walking up to one, she began to speak very casually. “Hi! My name’s Ruth. I’m the new chaplain here. I would like to invite you to the daily Bible studies I’m beginning. Would you like to participate?”

Tony is just minding his own bussiness for once. He still hates the building, but at least there’s not a whole lot of people who bother him anymore. It seems like they’ve realized their place which is somewhat relieving to the young man. His eyes are half lidded as he reads his book. Some bullshit about history, until he hears a girl’s voice intrude him. He frowns almost in disbelief at her words. “Only if you’d like someone to constantly piss on your Bible.”

Pausing at his question Mari cocked her head to the side, now that was the real question. Shrugging she couldn’t help but giggle as she realized he might be right. “I can’t even tell anymore, are you real?”

He arches his eyebrow at her giggle, not seeing what was funny but he goes along with it anyway. “What do you think?” Tony asks with a tilt of his head. “Maybe none of this is real. Maybe you’re not even here right now.”

“It would appear I do, I was clearly raised better” Lilith said simply, her mother having been a teacher of fine art and then English literature, not to mention incredibly British. “What is Game of Thrones? And if you hadn’t realised, I was here first…” she said and showed her paint covered hands “You are merely trying to bother me for some perplexing reason.”

He rolls his eyes, hating it when people think they’re better than him. No one is. That’s what he tells himself. Even when he was sobbing. “Oh look. I talk like I live in the fucking 20′s therefor I’m better educated. Shut up. At least I don’t try to punch people for not giving back their book. What would your dear parents say about that huh?” He says, remembering their first meeting. “Because you’re annoying. And I want you to leave, so leave.”

“I don’t care how vulgar I am. At least I talk like a normal person. You lady, who the hell talks like that?” He says, always been vain and degrading toward others. He snorts. “Be gone.” He mimics her. “Did you watch too much Games of Thrones? That’s bad for you, you know. No wonder you’re stuck in here. I’m not going to leave, if you don’t like my presence which is absolutely ridiculous, you can jet off yourself.”

Green orbs scan along the familiar walls, a loud huff escaping from his lips as his feet moved through the entrance of the rec room. “Place just gets shittier and shittier..” Chip mumbled, plopping down onto one of the couches.

Tony sighs as he watches the television aimlessly. He doesn’t like it when people complain around but he has to admit that he agrees with this one. “Everyday.” He says, raising an eyebrow and moving away just a bit. “You new here or something?”

Lilith turned a dark icy gaze to Tony, one that aimed to cut him off before he could even continue “Go away…” she said in a low warning tone, clenching her fist “To make fun of another makes you an idiot.”

Her gaze doesn’t even affect him. To be fair he doesn’t let a lot of things let alone angry women phase him, as he knows he’s above most of them. “A simple yes would’ve been sufficient.” He shrugs. “And what does staring and smiling at nothing make you? A completely delusional turd?”

“That’s what my dad says, but honestly, I’m fine. Drinking calms the nerves and it’s not like he doesn’t drink all the time either. Hypocritical, really.” He was mostly talking to himself, trying to think of things to undermine his dad’s words. When Tony called Ernest’s self harm pathetic, he wrapped his arms around himself, staring at the ground. “Yeah, well…whatever. I’ll be out of here in no time. It’ll be fine.”

“Most parents are hypocritical. They’re a bunch of old hags and they think they’re fucking saints.” He doesn’t like when his parents try to justify their pathetic actions and calling it an act of support. All they do is try to crush him down because they know he’s about to take their place. He raises an eyebrow at the guy. “Sure you are. Your scaredy cat behaviour sure backs that statement really well.”

“I’m glad that’s funny to you.” Mari muttered, rolling her eyes. “Obviously not or I wouldn’t be sitting here, I would be hiding.” 

“I’d love to meet them and praise them for giving me temporary entertainment.” He says, shrugging a little and not caring about her annoyance. “Were they even real?”

Taking a breath, his face came back into view, then his body, then the room. She grinned, “You’re not far from the truth. So fuck it. Why not.” Her huddled shoulders dropped and her hand massaged her temples as her eye closed. “How long have you been here?  …In the hospital I mean.”

Tony does not return the grin. Her delight doesn’t match his, she’s got no privilege and honor of seeing past his cold facade. In his eyes, she’s just another lost lamb thirsting for attention at the end of the day. “Too long.” He mutters simply, wishing he had a drink with him. “Why are you here?”
