Klonnie Alternative History: Bonnie’s sacrifice 

The pair eye one another, flames licking at their heels.  She tells herself to keep her gaze on him (only him) even though she has a strong urge to look over her shoulder to where her friends cower, clutching one another.

“It is a simple equation, love.”  His voice is soft against the harshness of their surroundings.  It wraps around her, lulls her in a way and for a moment she wonders if he has some witch in him.  “Your life for your friends.”

Bonnie hears Elena’s weakened cry against the idea but she pays it no mind.  She doesn’t need to think about it.  She has known what she is going to do from the moment she stepped into the circle.  Her magic wavers, wanting to lash out at him but knowing that it is not part of the deal.  There is no hot retort on her lips, no last minute negotiations. 

She merely nods her head.

Klaus’ smile is something to behold.  He lets out a breath and for the first time she realizes he thought she would say no (he does not yet fully understand the depths of her love for her Elena and Caroline).  She had some power over him and she let it slip through her fingers.  She watches as he moves towards her, her feet rooting themselves into the ground so she doesn’t let her fear take hold properly.  

She expects a swift end but instead he reaches forward to place a hand on her cheek, his thumb making small circles against her skin.  She stands there for a moment before her confusion becomes evident.  Her eyes question him.

“You think I was going to kill you?  You?  No, no, you’re much more valuable than that,” Klaus assures her with a small laugh.  “But our deal still stands — your life for theirs.”

Bonnie understands and she gets one last fleeting glimpse of friends before his fingers tighten around her neck and he spirits them away.

he simply thought of her as an adversary the first time he learned of her. and then he discovered her. her power. her naive, innocent pride. her foolish, relentless devotion. her unconditional love. he wanted it all. he wanted to consume her. 

her life was on a tragic trajectory. there was no need for interference or manipulations. all he had to do was wait...and then he’d have her.

Klaus is no fool.  He simply cannot pluck Bonnie Bennett from her life and force her into his.  She will never truly belong to him that way.

Gothic Klonnie 2020 Day 3: Green

During the day, they stay on their separate sides of the battlefield, eyeing one another with a healthy dose of wariness.  

But at night, oh at night…

They cross into no man’s land, a place where they can forget that hate should be the only emotion they feel. They twist together instinctually, hands and mouths fighting for control.  In the end, no one really knows who wins.

After all, it is the journey there that matters.

Halloween is almost upon us which means it’s almost time for Gothic Klonnie 2020 (29 oct - 1 nov) (this being a truly cursed year, which should give it an extra flavor, lol). if you want to celebrate with @irresistible-revolution and me and keep this small tradition alive, you are invited to post edits, gifsets, fanfics, playlists, or whatever you like in the #klonnie tag, but also under #gothic klonnie 2020.
