| ♛ | - As the cold blue moon rose beyond on the horizon, perfectly framed between the two peaks of Angelgard, the stars started to wake from their daylong slumber. They flickered and twinkled with bright light, almost as if they believed it would be their last moment to shine. Because it was. The Starscourge had begun to come to fruition.
Aranea stood at the edge of a cliff overlooking the pure darkness the sea had become, her signature red airship grounded beside her. “It’s tragically beautiful, isn’t it?” She asked.
Moments when the sun was beginning to show its light less frequently, were the moments Prompto dreaded the night. The cries of the daemons grew louder, the stars becoming more mocking by becoming engulfed by the dark miasma that coated the horizon like a thick blanket. In the comfort of a sanctuary, the night wouldn’t bother Prompto so much, but with the presence of the Oracle gone from the plane of existence, it was becoming increasingly more difficult to stay positive. An effort Prompto knew he would not be able to handle by himself alone.
What never changed, even with the growing concern of everlasting night, became the heavy scent of the ocean. A calming scent, even past the panic and frustration, salty seawater carried by the passing breeze did somehow ease whatever worries may have lingered on his thoughts. ❝In a macabre kind of way. The kind of beauty most would think grotesque and give no second thoughts to.❞
| ♛ | - Aranea snorted at the boy’s response. “That’s why I said tragic, Blondie,” she retorted, snark in her tone. “Life’s about to get even more hellish, so take some time to enjoy the little things. Even if those things seem to creep out others.”
The woman could sense the tension and uneasiness in Promoto’s tone. She had a knack for reading body language inflictions in others’ tones. It was a necessity in the cutthroat world of mercenaries. Have to make sure you we’re getting all the details and, more importantly, we’re going to be paid accordingly. But even though her days of flying through the skies for whomever had the deepest pockets were all but memories of days gone by, the silver-haired woman kept up this skill. You never knew when you’d have to help a hopeless blond kid keep his nerves in check.
