Project Hail Mary (2026) — Ryland Grace' journey to Captain
Do you think after they send the taumeoba samples to Venus and the apocalypse is averted, there are people back on Earth who are like "See, this is why we should pay teachers more"
Love that Ryland Grace is the opposite of so many male protagonist "heroes" in media and yet he's still so incredibly brave, resilient, and strong. That flimsy little science teacher saves the day.
But he also,
Throws fits when things don't go his way. Not a "I'm a bad bitch" destroying everything-type fit, but tossing a trash can, breaking a screen-type fit.
Cries. A lot.
Pleads. He begs.
Doesn't answer the call to action.
Shows weakness. Being a coward and being fearful are two things he defines himself with.
Doesn't end up with the girl. In fact, that girl isn't even interested and he isn't, either.
Cherishes friendship over a romantic plot or something stereotypically brave like, "I'm going to save Rocky so I can save his world." No, he wants to save his friend, first and foremost.
Squeaks. He squeals. He screams, loudly and very high pitched. He whines. He complains. He physically struggles to open a jar. He's clumsy as hell. He makes some of the least graceful noises one can make.
Is not afraid to be the primitive species lowkey.
I love him and everything he stands for as a male protagonist. Men need to know that they can be just like Ryland Grace and still be just as much of a hero and a man.
Ifailed my drivers licence exam for the second time today and felt so stupid, so I cried a lot and then to cheer me up I drew some lokius....
the first comic is from @elodia 's new fic Maylancholy Drabbles which I deeeeeeeeply enjoyed, so go read it and leave lots of nice comments please
then we have a cute self indulgent cause I was sad, and i would write fanfiction but I can't write and I needed comfortr so take it as you please + HEADCANONS, omg I love long long hair loki but I also love love short hair loki so i gave him a sort or a jellyfish haircut and I love it (emh...if anyone wanted to.... could ... emhh make a fic about this?... just putting it out there....)
and the final 2 drawings is a little maybe perhaps wip... about some *COUGH COUGH* plushies * COUGH COUGH*
That post about death note being "everyone's first anime" (untrue statement) made me curious and now I want to gather data for science
Can you reblog this and tell me where are you from and what was your starter anime?
sometimes artists worry if their art is actually capable of making the world a better place, or if its all just wasted effort. what you need to remember is: all art is evil, and the sole aspiration of the artist should be to maim as many onlookers as possible.
scientists are trying to discover something harder than getting out of bed to go to work in the morning. and dont make a fucking penis joke ok they already checked everyone’s dick and it doesn’t even come close
coffee
Still not done crying over these two
Grace Rocky save stars.
why is this post completely broken in every way imaginable
Broken notes… deactivated account… removed image….
Finally, we have them all.
In addition: OP’s name is just… gone. No “[insert username]-deactivated[insert a bunch of numbers]” as is the standard for deactivated blogs.
Just the world “deactivated.” Look upon their post, ye mighty, and despair.
It’ll be almost impossible to find this post unless it wanders across your dash.
Sick!
It’s a ghost post
PHM means so much to me as a scientist because for once, a movie celebrates the wonder of science and human capability, of morality without throwing anyone (not even Stratt!!!) under the bus, it celebrates our ability to collaborate and come together when we need to, it celebrates teachers and scientists as people we can aspire to be like, it celebrates the love of learning and curiosity, and in a time where anti-intellectualism is so rampant, it's everything the world needs to remember that being smart and being passionate and being brave is what the world needs to grow
God can you imagine being Rocky?
You're sick. You recognise the symptoms from your crew, you have radiation poisoning. The astrophages that were protecting you and powering the ship are gone. You couldn't find the leak in time to stop it. And now you're dying out here in space, alone.
The life support systems on the ship are shutting down. Everything is shutting down. Your planet will die– your entire star system will die. They'll never know how close you came to saving them.
You think about Grace. Is his ship dying too? Or is he on his way home, none the wiser to your fate?
Maybe you're fighting until the end, or maybe you've 'made peace' with it.
And then you hear knocking, on the outside of your ship. Furious, desperate banging on the window. Your friend, your lab partner, your first contact, has come back to save you.
Amaze amaze amaze.
Actually I'm not done. Then would come the arguing.
You know exactly how much fuel you gave this chucklefuck, and now he doesn't have enough to go home. Dumbass. Idiot. More words he can't understand. He gave up his chance to go home for a planet he's never been to? No, he gave it up for you.
All you can do is go to Erid together, on his ship because yours is now a biohazard. He's confined to it while you talk to scientists, to eridians in charge, making them understand that this weird soft alien saved everyone. And now he needs them to save him in return.
Using what he showed you, you help design an enclosure for him. A house with a bed, sand, water, this really specific gas mix for an atmosphere, sunlight. It's a whole thing.
But you saved each other, and saved the stars.
