i dont know how to articulate this well but some of you act like neurodiversity starts with adhd and ends with autism. you talk about "the neurodivergent experience" and everytime you mean "the overlapping experience of adhd and autism."

please remember us when talking about neurodiversity. ocd, dyslexia, dyscaculia, personality disorders, tourettes, intellectual disabilities, schizo-spec disorders, etc. all fall under neurodiversity.

please stop saying neurodivergent when you mean "autism and adhd."

Frequently I encounter non Native folks who tell me they think reservations are some form of reparatoins to Natives from the US government. I even had someone close to me tell me they thought reservations were places to “reserve” our cultures.

Where I’m from (South Dakota) reservations were concentration camps where they sent us to die after they stole and colonized all of the land every US citizen occupies. In the early SD Rez days our ppl had to get permission from district agents (white settler men) to get food, fix our homes, or even leave our community to travel to another community on our Rez to visit relatives. We couldn’t hunt cuz they killed millions of our buffalo. If we didn’t get permission from the white settler agent we couldn’t eat, fix our homes or visit relatives because we would be violating US law & could be arrested. Also our cultures & ceremonies were illegal under US law until the Indian Religious Freedom Act in 1978.

So plz educate the ppl you love and care abt because everyone in the USA is living in an illegal settler colony, Indigenous ppl survived their genocide & we’re her to say these settlers never gave af abt us & never will.

That’s Louis Rossman, a repair technician and YouTuber, who went viral recently for railing against Apple. Apple purposely charges a lot for repairs and you either have to pay up or buy a new device. That’s because Apple withholds necessary tools and information from outside repair shops. And to think, we were just so close to change.

This guy inspired me to repair my own macbook. First of all, you should know that I am not… like, I have to look up HOW to look up what my computer specifications are. Tech, that ware either soft or hard, is not a subject in which I experience comfort or competence. But my puppy peed on my keyboard, and I asked the apple store, or the fucking mac cafe, or the godsdamn Computer House Chill Zone or whatever cute ass name they have for their bullshit store, and they said it would be TWELVE HUNDRED DOLLARS TO REPLACE MY KEYBOARD. I’m not even exaggerating.

So I asked the internet, well how hard IS it to repair? And I saw this guy’s video, and while I am no techie, I AM fueled by spite, so I was all “oh, they do that shit on purpose specifically so they can charge me $1200 bucks or make me buy a new computer hunh? FUCK THEM” and I bought all the tools I needed for about $25 and I bought all the parts I needed for about another $25 and I watched a few tutorial videos, and I replaced my own keyboard.

So, once you are doing the actual deed, it becomes pretty obvious that they are finding creative ways to make this much harder than it has to be on purpose. On thing that stood out to me is, instead of all the tiny screws being the same size, there are about two dozen very slightly different sizes. They could easily be all the same size, or like, two sizes at most, but no.

These mother fuckers will take a panel that screws into place and they’ll use a different size screw for each corner. They are so close that you almost cannot tell them apart visually, but they each will only screw into the matching corner. Like, it’s a pretty clear “fuck you” to anyone trying to do repairs.

anyway, this guy is also fueled by spite, and doing holy work, and I have mad respect

What exactly is infodump and executive disorder?

infodump is when people give a lot of information about their special interests (or anything they know about) in one go, effectively “dumping” it on the other person. NT people often find this weird, or not the way they like to hear information, but it is the way autistic and ADHD people tend to process or spill info (with exceptions, of course)

by executive disorder, i assume you mean executive dysfunction (disorder can mean dysfunction, but it can also signify a diagnosis, and as far as i’m aware, executive dysfunction is not a separate diagnosis). 

executive dysfunction is essentially an issue with doing things. executive function i find easier to understand in terms of computers; for a computer to complete a certain job, it runs a program, which is basically step-by-step instructions written in code. following these codes, it can complete the tasks with little to no difficulty or errors, and therefore is deemed functioning. some people have problems with doing things, as their brains wont supply the code. say you want to brush your teeth, but all your code for the steps are missing. it may seem like a tiny thing, but if you break it down, it’s actually:

stand up

walk to bathroom

identify correct toothbrush

pick up toothbrush

wet toothbrush

locate toothpaste

open toothpaste 

squirt toothpaste onto toothbrush

wet brush again

actually brush your teeth

that’s 9 steps before the actual teeth brushing, so if your brain is missing steps 2-9, brushing your teeth will be next to impossible. therefore, that renders your ability to complete the tasks not working, hence the name dysfunction. it’s called “executive” because most people’s brains can do this stuff without concentrating on it, it just happens in the background. 

that’s not the only reason for executive dysfunction: processing, distractions, and other things can also cause/affect it
