“Contact your state representative to protest for net neutrality!”
Me, a mere european:
Instead of just dying, you should sign this international petition for Net Neutrality: https://act.freepress.net/sign/internet_nn_trump
Thank you, since this is the sort of information I’d been waiting for
I recommend excessive reblogging of this since how our non-American friends can help us is much less covered as it is, and Verizon is deleting everything.
Infants do not cry ‘for no reason.’
Infants do not cry to upset you. They don’t have a concept of hurting others and they don’t have any reason to want to do so.
Infants do not have any other way of communicating distress or an unmet need. They do not have a choice about crying.
Do not ever yell at, shake, or punish an infant. They will not learn from this – but they will be upset and afraid and possibly harmed, either in the moment or via problems in brain development.
It’s okay to take a minute to set an infant down and go into a quiet room if you are having a hard time staying calm and comforting, and come back when you have more self-control.
The only way to get an infant to cry less is to meet their needs. If you spend a lot of time with infants you can actually learn to notice when they need something, before they cry about it at all. Most infants show signs of discomfort, hunger, or having a full/wet diaper, before they get upset enough to cry.
Infants whose needs aren’t usually met right away may learn to cry immediately. Regularly not responding to an infant’s crying teaches the infant to panic every time they need something, and the trauma of being so afraid so often as an infant can cause issues with healthy brain develoment.
If a baby is crying, they need something.
Is their nappy/diaper clean and dry? Even if it’s just wet, it should be changed right away.
Are they hungry? A quick way to check is to run your finger over their mouth and see if they try to grab it with their lips.
Do they have air bubbles? You may be able to tell if this is the problem by feeling the infant’s tummy for unusual firmness. Infants need to be burped right after they eat to help them get rid of air bubbles that may get trapped and cause discomfort. If it’s been little while since they last ate, it may be more effective to lay the infant on their back and move their legs in a bicycle motion.
Are they too warm/cold? Touch the infant’s hands and feet to see if they need more or fewer coverings.
Are they overstimulated? If it’s too noisy/bright or they’re being touched by too any people, etc., they may need to be held by one calm person with a blanket over their head. Like most people, infants tend to get more easily overstimulated when tired.
Are they able to breathe freely? Infants cannot blow their own nose. A nasal aspirator is an inexpensive tool you can use to help them clear nasal congestion.
Are they in pain? When an infant is sick or otherwise in pain, it may be beneficial to give them pain medication formulated for infants, such as baby tylenol. Always follow the instructions on the bottle and consult a doctor or pharmacist with any questions. If a cold doesn’t start to improve within a few days or the infant seems to be in pain but you don’t know why, consult a doctor. The infant may have colic, silent reflux or other issues which can sometimes be treated. If the infant is more than a couple months old, they may be teething. Baby tylenol will still help but a numbing paste, like orajel, on their gums may be more effective. They may also need teething toys to chew on or a cold wet (clean) washcloth.
Do they just need reassurance? Infants like being sung to, murmured to, and soothed with rhythmic “shhh”-ing. Calm and steady sounds help reassure them that they aren’t alone and help them relax. Another way to comfort an infant is to bounce them gently and rhythmically in your arms, and/or pat their back rhythmically. Some infants, including most newborns, may need to be swaddled. A tight swaddle helps the infant feel secure and warm. Ask a doctor, nurse, parent, or YouTube to show you how to do a proper swaddle.
Do they need to be held? The need for touch is the need most often ignored. Infants are significantly more likely to thrive with lots and lots of skin-to-skin contact. They also just need to be held, in general, a lot of the time. Being held (especially with skin to skin contact but even without it) helps the infant release hormones necessary for healthy brain development. Being close enough to feel an adult’s steady heartbeat is calming and beneficial for an infant. For these reasons and many others, infants need to be held - a lot. Our closest primate relatives maintain constant physical contact with their babies for the first year of life. Historically most humans have lived communally, which allows several people to take turns providing the necessary physical contact. Infants don’t need to be held every single moment, but the more they are held, the safer and more secure they’ll feel and the more likely they are to be healthy. A sling, baby wrap, or wearable infant carrier can help an infant get necessary contact time. If an infant needs contact to sleep, consider getting a cosleeper cushion to safely allow you or someone else to sleep next to the infant. If that isn’t possible, sleep training where you pick up and comfort the baby each time they cry, and then put them down slightly sooner each time that night, may help.
Do not let an infant cry and cry for help and not give it to them.
Add: infants who have experienced long term neglect STOP CRYING to get things or communicate. This isn’t growing out of crying to replace it with language, I’m talking about pre-verbal language absence of crying to express needs.
This does not not mean the baby is a “good” baby. This means the baby has been neglected or attended to so inconsistently that they have given up on social communication of needs. It is not a good sign.
A little louder for the people in the back.
You would not believe the amount of times I have heard “you’re going to spoil him”, “he’s manipulating you” and so on, for holding/rocking/COMFORTING my son when he was fresh. (And seeing people tell this to new parents while at work I’m like ???? Their baby?? Is 3 hours old?? What?? The fuck??)
Pardon my language but are you fucking kidding me? Who came up with this idea that infants, INFANTS, are manipulative? They think something disappears from existence when they can’t see it anymore, and you’re telling me they have the mental capacity to be manipulative?
Babies cry because they have needs to be met. It’s not rocket science. Their brains NEED love, human touch and interaction, to develop properly. You will not spoil your child by soothing them when they cry.
SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE LURKING FUNDIES IN THE BACK

THIS HAS GOT TO BE A JOKE
Petition for Turd and Anna to name their sixth kid Manughelle???
(Fun fact i had to triple check the spelling of that name and it still might be wrong good god)
i’m naming my kid brexit
She should go with the boy girl twin names I picked for my dolls when I was five. Alexander and Alexandra.
Bona Petite I’m crying 😂😂
Dudeson sounds like something Josh would come up with for his hidden Tinder account.
I WILL BE CENSORED AFTER DEC 14TH
Good, I’ve got your attention. I’ve heard about this net neutrality bullshit returning. I fought it when it started popping up a few years ago, and I’m going to fight it again. Guys, it’s BACK AGAIN and even worse theres a big chance it will END UP PASSING!
https://www.battleforthenet.com/#bftn-action-form
This could literally mean a shit ton of you wont be able to see me anymore if your provider decides that they want to regulate/censor, sayyy overly sexual content. You’ll also have to pay extra money to even use Tumblr!
https://www.battleforthenet.com/#bftn-action-form
Please guys, we defeated this shit once, we can do it again. They’re trying to do it now while people are distracted by the holidays and fucking Justice League. As of today, it seems as though there have only been 266,810 calls made to Congress. This is NOT good enough!! MILLIONS of people use the net, and if each one of them took 60 seconds to call and protect it, holy balls do you KNOW how much of a difference that would make??? But noooo, you’re busy streaming an ecchi anime that wont be available to you soon!!!!!
Heres a direct link to make a difference (theres also links to other sites of the same nature on here), and yes, YOU can make a fucking difference because this is YOUR internet at stake here. If you’re not going to make the call, share this and maybe SOMEONE fucking will!! This is important as shit and we cant afford to lose. Dec 14th is the deadline.
https://www.battleforthenet.com/#bftn-action-form
I know this doesn’t sound important but….
The reason they started this again is because… the timing.
Coincidence? I think NOT.
Everyone is so obsessed with something else, The FCC are manipulating us.
I seriously don’t want to give up Tumblr and YouTube all together because of this crap..
:’(
They’re deleting it every 20 hours too, don’t stop rebloging this!
Tumblr doesn’t care about Net Neutrality anymore.
Let’s take a look at some screenshots of an article I was reading earlier today…
Keyword: was. They don’t support net neutrality anymore. Why you ask? well…
Tumblr is owned by Yahoo. Now that Verizon (a company that hates net neutrality) bought Yahoo, they have demanded that Tumblr must stop supporting net neutrality too. The Tumblr staff has stopped posting about net neutrality.
This site is being forced to hate net neutrality. (article link)
this is why all those net neutrality posts are disappearing from your feeds. don’t let it do so
Wife With A Purpose is an out’n’proud white supremacist and this brand of white supremacy goes hand-in-hand with misogyny. This is the second time this has come up on my dash and I will never pass up the opportunity to tell people this.
I love this picture but I hate how the caption ruins it. Why can’t you be a smart scientist AND create six smart scientists? There’s no rule saying you can’t do both.
Don’t you anti-feminist fucks hate science anyway?
right???? Racists need to pick a fucking lane.
Re: Samuel's wrap around his shoulders - some babies sleep better/ calm down with their arms pinned to their side. She could be trying to get him down for a nap, albeit it's an odd way to do it most people just put their babies in swaddle wraps.
Thank you! I think swaddling into older months must be more common than I realized. None of my friends swaddled past about two months. So this is a swaddling education for Me! (Mary)
I swaddled my son until 4 months, because he could not sleep at all if he wasn’t swaddled. I left his legs out for the last month and quit swaddling altogether when he would immediately break free every time I tried. I know someone else who swaddled till 3 months.
Jill read our comments about being detached from Samuel and also, if you needed anymore proof of it being a piercing. (Annie)
Apparently she also read my comment about her not babywearing...

Ya know how Jim Bob used to work at a grocery store? The pantry in the Duggar complex is stocked accordingly. I bet Jim Bob won't even let the middle boys work at a grocery store because it's too risky. Here in New York, the working age is 14, so every boy until Jackson could work. Why wouldn't JB want his sons to be contributing members to society? Nike Nike Nike!!!!😂😂😂
The ideal for fundie boys is to be self employed. That allows them to follow their own rules at their job and not be in the position of having a female boss. Sometimes they deal with the public at those jobs - I don’t know what they do if there’s a NIKE situation with a customer. (Mary)
And if fundie boys are employed by anyone else, that anyone else is supposed to be an older relative or family friend. And, of course, in “manly” jobs like landscaping, house flipping, and stuff like that. Nothing that requires much of an education beyond high school, or puts them “at risk” of having a female boss or instructor.
honestly what the fuck is even going on with skyrim
you can learn chemistry by eating bees
This is literally the only thing anyone has ever said that’s made me want to play Skyrim
You can do the same with a human heart. It’s that kind of game.
DeepDive with blessamuffins: Why did Sierra and Jill start wearing pants?
We were in need of someone to comb through sermons and I did it. Soooo, I deep dived into the depths of the Cross Church sermon archive and their various ministry pages, trying to see if anything specific was said about modesty, women’s roles, etc. So far, the only things I can find are the ‘Plan Your Visit’ page, and an exert from the Women’s ministry page. But, I FOUND SOME JUICY ‘WOMEN ARE LESSER’ propaganda! (Not really propaganda, but ya’ know.)
Here are those below:
On Clothing:
From the ‘Plan Your Visit’ Page: What should I wear?
Whatever you feel comfortable in. The people who attend Cross Church wear everything from business casual to jeans.
From Women’s Ministry page: We know women are influencers in our homes, workplaces, neighborhoods, and communities, so we strive to steward well the gifts and abilities we have been given by God.
On Women’s Role in the Home and Church:
A husband is to love his wife as Christ loved the church. He has the God-given responsibility to provide for, to protect, and to lead his family. A wife is to submit herself graciously to the servant leadership of her husband even as the church willingly submits to the headship of Christ.
So, from what I can see, I think it’s just because they’re around a lot more, if you will, liberal Christians in the way of clothing and modesty and are trying to fit in. I mean, try being Jill and having Derick hang out with a bunch of college kids and try to preach the whole “Modesty must be by these strict rules” thing. She’s trying to be more relate-able, and with Sierra, she probably saw a lot of her church friends wearing pants. A bunch of the sisters are friends with Kristen Young, and she’s always seen wearing pants…Maybe she is influencing them as well?
I really liked putting this piece together and may or may not be starting a deep dive on Caleb Williams! lol byeeeeeee
Interesting theory here. I do think it has to do with the church not being strictly baptist, which I’ve learned many Baptist churches drop the word Baptist and just change to a Christian church, probably to gain more followers/attendees so that could be why it’s not as strict. It would be interesting to see where Cross Church came from, because they definitely did not attend there before.
It’s not entirely to gain new followers- Southern Baptism has a long history of being racist, misogynist, hyper-conservative, and more recently, generally crazy about “occultism” and “witchcraft” (like Dungeons and Dragons). I think even a lot of pastors with that background are put off by it and relax on issues of race, divorce, Harry Potter movies, and rock music. So that’s how you get non-denominational churches with a lot of Baptist trappings. That being said, there are certainly a lot of Southern Baptist churches that insist on calling themselves “community” churches (the church I went to as a kid was Suchandsuch Community Church) to gain followers.
Yeah I think the last part you wrote what I was ultimately trying to convey based off of my experience and what I was trying to theorize about Cross Church.
For example I found out the church I’ve been going to and seems less strict actually used to be a baptist church.
Now the reason I believe this is to gain new followers is for the $$$$$. The church I go to now is HUGE and I learned when it was baptist, it was very small. So I think they want more people so that they can get better facilities and such. I hope that makes sense.
It makes sense, but in recent years there have been a few splits from the SBC on a few issues like women being pastors, LGBTQ people being accepted, and more “charismatic” practices as well (Baptists really hate anything remotely charismatic, even if it’s just stuff like dancing or generally having fun during Sunday service). I think a lot of churches have rejected the “Baptist” label because nobody else really accepts them as such, and that’s why a lot of very large non-denominational churches start off as tiny Baptist ones (since Baptists looooooove church-planting). Then there’s the fact that non-denominational churches are waaayyyyyy less segregated than other Baptist churches. There are white churches and black churches and never the two shall meet, even in 2017, apparently. So if your church is anything like what I’ve described, that’s probably how it happened. Otherwise it’s like SuchandSuch Community Church that was really aggressive about evangelizing while totally misrepresenting itself, accepting CCM during worship but no secular music whatsoever outside of church, and still pretty small (though definitely larger than it was 10 years ago when I left). People don’t like to be tricked and that’s probably why Southern Baptist churches are bleeding members.
Enjoyed hearing wisdom for young couples tonight from @DennisRainey & his wife, Barbara. Thank you @cldilla for the invite and @ptoling for hosting! -Derick Via Twitter
PAAAAANNTTSSSS
okay i think i’ve figured out what bugs me about samuel. most moms with new babies are attatched to them. i feel like jessa’s just now getting to the point where henry isn’t in every picture of her. but with sam it’s like jill popped out the kid and then hands him off to the nearest person (except derdick of course)
He is lying around somewhere on the floor.
They are like Sims parents LOL!
(Obv. just kidding, don’t kill me! 😂) (Annie)
omg LOL. But you know what I’ve noticed about all of these pics? Jill isn’t babywearing Samuel. I don’t know if she’s given up on it entirely or just because of the criticism she got when wearing Izzy. She may not be able to hold him very long, too, I know I wasn’t for a few months after my c-section.

sooooo do y’all remember that post I made way back when about 1000 Kids and Counting being a roundabout way of controlling the kids? While I sorta expected Jill to show up in pants eventually, I didn’t expect her to do it while living so close to her family, and so soon! But I guess now that she and Derick are off the show she’s allowed to relax and be herself rather than Perfect Fundie Daughter Duggar.
