The Murder and Fetus Kidnapping of Savanna LaFontaine-Greywind

Bang. Bang. BANG. For twenty minutes on August 19, 2017, that is all the neighbors of Brooke Crews heard emanating from her seventh floor apartment bathroom in Fargo, North Dakota. After twenty minutes of a repetitive and purposeful banging, the shower turned on, then there was silence. Despite it seeming somewhat odd, the neighbors expected such sounds from Crews and her boyfriend, William Hoehn who regularly had screaming brawls inside of their apartment. Little did those curious tenants know, those sounds were of eight month pregnant mom, Savanna LaFontaine-Greywind being murdered by Crews in order to steal her unborn daughter.

On August 19, 2017 twenty-two year old Savanna was reported missing by her loved ones after she failed to return home after meeting with her upstairs neighbor to help her with a sewing project. Brooke Crews came down to the apartment Savanna shared with her family and offered to pay her $20 to model for a sewing project she was doing. Savanna left her apartment with a pizza fresh out of the oven and her wallet and car left at home. When she arrived to Crew’s apartment, Brooke reportedly started an argument and shoved Savanna into the bathroom sink where she hit her head and fell unconscious. In an interview with Crew’s after her arrest, she claimed that as Savanna was in and out of consciousness, she used a carpenter’s knife to cut the baby from her womb.

When Crew’s boyfriend arrived home from work, she exclaimed to him, “look at our baby, look at our family.” William proceeded to take off his clothes and grab a rope to strangle Savanna with. He walked into the bathroom, tied the rope around her neck, and strangled her to death; after, he reportedly said “If she wasn’t done before, she’s done now.” The couple then cleaned up the blood in the bathroom, wrapped her body in trash bags and tape and put her body inside of a hollowed out dresser; they then put her body inside of their Jeep.

After Savanna’s family reported her missing, authorities immediately searched Crew’s apartment due to her being the last known person to see her. During this initial search, they found nothing in the home despite her body being stuffed inside of the dresser and her healthy newborn daughter laying on the bed with clothes covering her. During their investigation, authorities discovered that Brooke Crews came down to their apartment two weeks prior to her disappearance asking if she wanted to come up to her apartment and smoke weed, to which Savanna declined.

When news of a possible sex offender living in the apartment building was brought to light, reporter Blake Gumprecht went to the location to check out the story. On the Wednesday after Savanna disappeared and he approached Crew’s apartment, he reported to investigators that “As I walked up the stairs in the apartment building and approached Apartment Five, I heard a loud machine noise coming from the apartment. It sounded like construction noise, probably an industrial vacuum…”

Several employees that worked at the roofing company William Cohen was employed at came forward and claimed that they overheard him speaking of a new baby in his life despite Brooke not being pregnant. When a search warrant was obtained to search their apartment, investigators found Crew’s inside of the home with a healthy newborn girl; DNA soon proved that this child belonged to Savanna. Eight days after her disappearance, Savanna’s body was found floating in a river around six miles north of Fargo.

After Brooke Crew’s admitted to Savanna’s murder, she claimed that William was pressuring her to have a child. She eventually began faking a pregnancy and even went as far as providing a false sonogram and pregnancy test. When William found out, he demanded that Savanna find a child for them to raise as their own. When William began talking about Savanna’s pregnancy and his fantasies of raping and murdering women, Brooke took this as a green light to kill Savanna and steal her baby.

Despite Crew’s testimony stating that she knocked Savanna unconscious before cutting the baby from her womb, the testifying medical examiner found no evidence of any form of head wound. Dr. Froloff, the medical examiner that performed her autopsy, testified that he was unsure if her cause of death was caused by blood loss or strangulation.

Brooke Crews was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole and in a confession from Hoehn’s prison cellmate, Hoehn admitted to helping clean up and dispose of Savanna’s body but claimed her didn’t help kill her himself. However, when asked how he felt about the fact that his ex girlfriend had an abortion, he stated “I would have just cut the baby out of the b****.”

The newborn daughter of slain mother Savanna LaFontaine-Greywind now lives with her father and is named Haisley Jo; she is nearly two years old and is a perfectly healthy little girl.

In a bill named for Savanna, the United States Congress passed the bill “Savanna’s Act” which aims to protect Native American women and girls from violence, abduction, and human trafficking. This bill improves federal access to crime databases, creates standardized protocols for responding to missing and murdered Native Americans and also requires an annual report of missing and murdered Native American women.

The Death of Caylee Anthony and the Timeline of Events Behind Her Disappearance

Bella Vita, or ‘beautiful life’ are the words Casey Anthony had tattooed on her body while her three-year-old daughter, Caylee was missing and had been for the past month; Dancing on bars, doing drugs, and being promiscuous are all acts of a mother who claimed to be totally clueless as to the whereabouts of her young daughter. After Casey got pregnant unexpectedly at 18, she decided to continue living in the home with her parents and raise Caylee there. During the first two years of Caylee’s life, Casey was a devoted and loving mother who seemed to be ecstatic about being a first time mom; despite her beautiful and bubbly exterior, she was a master manipulator. The cracks in her personality began to show when her parents caught her lying about the identity of Caylee’s birth father when the results of a paternity test came back; It wasn’t until she was caught in this lie that she revealed that Caylee’s true father died in an accident before Caylee was born. On June 15, 2008 Casey left the family home with Caylee in tow and promised to return within a week. One week passed, then two, and once her parents received a note that her car was in a tow yard in a totally different part of Florida than she claimed she was going, they set out to find her and Caylee; They had no inclination of how their lives were about to change.

Unbeknownst to her parents, Casey was dating a man in Orlando by the name of Anthony Lazzarro and planned on going to visit him instead of going on a work trip like she initially told them. On the night Caylee was last seen and Casey was supposed to be working, she was seen in a blockbuster video store with Lazzarro and Caylee was nowhere in sight. The story she told her parents was much different: She claimed that she was taking Caylee to go stay with a nanny while she traveled back and forth between Tampa and Jacksonville for her job with Universal Studios. Casey consistently dodged questions from her parents on why they couldn’t talk to Caylee and why she wasn’t coming home sooner. She told them her car broke down and was having issues getting it fixed. When her parents received the notice in the mail that her car was in a tow yard, they immediately went to Florida to find out what was happening.

When George and Cindy arrived at Universal Studios to find their daughter, they were informed that she in fact did not work there. After Casey was located at Anthony’s apartment and it smelled like marijuana, her parents knew Caylee wasn’t there. When they asked her where Caylee was, she told them that she dropped her off at the ‘Zanny the Nannies’ house and she refused to return her for the past 31 days. When her car was searched by her parents, they both immediately came to the startling discovery that the car smelled like decomposition on the inside. Her mother immediately called authorities to report her granddaughter missing and this first call sparked one of the most sensational unsolved cases in United States history. The following transcript is from the initial 911 call placed by Cindy Anthony:

Cindy Anthony: "I have someone here who I need to be arrested in my home."

911 Operator: "They are there right now?"

Cindy Anthony: "And I have a possible missing child. I have a 3-year-old who has been missing for a month."

911 Operator: "A 3-year-old? Have you reported that?"

Cindy Anthony: "I'm trying to do that now."

911 Operator: "OK, what did the person do that you need arrested?"

Cindy Anthony: "My daughter."

911 Operator: "For what?"

Cindy Anthony: "For stealing an auto and stealing money. I already spoke to someone who said they would patch me through to the Orlando Sheriff's Department and have a deputy here. I was in the car and I was going to drive her to the police station, and no one is open. They said they would bring a deputy to my home when I got home to call them."

911 Operator: "So, she stole your vehicle?"

Cindy Anthony: "Yes."

911 Operator: "When did she do that?"

Cindy Anthony: "On the (June) 30. I just got it back from the impound. I'd like to speak to an officer. Can you have someone come out to my house?"

Another call featured the first words heard from the mother of the missing girl. She said she knows who has her daughter.

Cindy Anthony: "I called a little bit ago to the deputy sheriff's and I've found out that my granddaughter has been taken -- she has been missing for a month. Her mother had finally admitted that she had been missing."

911 Operator: "What is the address you are calling from?"

Cindy Anthony: "We are talking about a 3-year-old little girl. My daughter finally admitted that the baby sitter stole her. I need to find her."

911 Operator: "Your daughter admitted that the baby is where?"

Cindy Anthony: "She said she took her a month ago and my daughter has been looking for her. I told you my daughter has been missing for a month and I just found her today. But I can't find my granddaughter. She just admitted to me that she's been trying to find her by herself. There is something wrong. I found my daughter's car today and it smells like there's been a dead body in the damn car."

911 Operator: "OK, what is the 3-year-old's name?"

Cindy Anthony: "Caylee, C-A-Y-L-E-E, Anthony."

911 Operator: "How long has she been missing for?"

Cindy Anthony: "I have not seen her since June 7."

Anthony's speech is then inaudible.

911 Operator: "Can you calm down for me for just a minute. I need to know what is going on. Is your daughter there? Can I speak with her? Do you mind if I speak with her?"

Casey Anthony: "Hello."

911 Operator: "Hi. Can you tell me what's going on a little bit?"

Casey Anthony: "My daughter has been missing for the last 31 days."

911 Operator: "And, you know who has her?"

Casey Anthony: "I know who has her. I tried to contact her and I actually received a phone call today from a number that is no longer in service. I did get to speak to my daughter for about a minute."

911 Operator: "Did you guys report a vehicle stolen?"

Casey Anthony: "Yes, my mom did."

911 Operator: "OK, so there has been a vehicle stolen too?"

Casey Anthony: "No. This is my vehicle."

911 Operator: "What vehicle was stolen?"

Casey Anthony: "It's a 1998 Pontiac."

911 Operator: "We have deputies on the way to you for that, but now your 3-year-old is missing -- Caylee Anthony?"

Casey Anthony: "Yes."

911 Operator: "You lost her a month ago?"

Casey Anthony: "Thirty-one days (ago)."

911 Operator: "Who has her? Do you have a name?"

Casey Anthony: "Her name is Zenida Fernandez Gonzalez."

911 Operator: "Who is that, the baby sitter?"

Casey Anthony: "She's been my nanny for about a year and a half or two years."

911 Operator: "Why are you calling now? Why didn't you call 31 days ago?"

Casey Anthony: "I've been looking for her and have gone through other resources to try to find her -- which is stupid."

After authorities discovered she lied to them in her interrogation about her place of employment and the fact that the nanny she claimed she hired to care for Caylee had no recollection of ever meeting the Anthony family. If the sole person who she stated took her daughter had no ties to the family, where did Caylee end up on the nights Casey was busy partying all night? With this evidence, she was arrested on child endangerment charges and obstruction of justice but was released shortly after on a $500,000 bail bond.

On December 11, 2008 Caylee’s body was located just miles from the Anthony home by a man responsible for reading parking meters. Her body was found inside of a grey bag; there was duct tape still clinging to soft tissue left on her skull near her mouth. Due to the state of her remains, a cause of death was not able to be determined. On her official death certificate, her death was ruled as a homicide with the cause of death being listed as unknown.

Jose Baez, Casey’s defense lawyer started opening statements claiming that Caylee drowned in the family pool and was found by George Anthony, Casey’s father. Jose stated that George told Casey she would spend the rest of her life suffering in prison if she told the truth and because of this, she was forced into silence. Condemning her father even further, Jose went on to state that starting at age eight, George began sneaking into Casey’s room at night and sexually abusing her; there was absolutely no evidence to confirm these accusations. In a later interview with George, he stated that he had to force himself not to jump across the stand and attack Baez when he accused him of abusing Casey.

There were 400 pieces of evidence used in the trial against Casey Anthony that included a 9 inch long hair matching Caylee’s that was discovered in Casey’s trunk, a heart shaped sticker that was found over the piece of duct tape covering her mouth and a Winnie the Pooh blanket found with her body. Karen Korsberg, a specialist in hair analysis testified that the hair found matching Caylee’s had root banding, which is consistent with being pulled from a decomposing body.

Another crucial piece of evidence in the case is the air sampling report taken from the air inside of the trash bags in Casey’s trunk. This sampling proved that there were chemical compounds consistent with decomposition and chloroform located within the trunk; A search of Casey’s computer located google searches from ‘How to make chloroform’ and ‘Neck breaking.’

Jan Garavaglia, chief medical examiner who performed Caylee’s autopsy testified that despite a lack of physical evidence found during her autopsy, she reached the conclusion that Caylee was murdered due to the fact that there was duct tape positioned near her mouth and nose and the large amount of time that went by without Casey actively doing anything to find her; a computer animated model was created demonstrating a hypothetical position of the duct tape where it would cover both Caylee’s nose and mouth, suffocating her. Despite the possibility of the duct tape having the potential to be the murder weapon, it was impossible to determine the way it was put on her face due to it being moved during transportation and decomposition of her soft tissues. Dr. Garavaglia also addressed the possibility that Casey might have tried to use a small amount of chloroform on Caylee and this resulted in her death; Any amount of this chemical is enough to cause death in a child her size.

Prosecution defense lawyer Jeff Ashton finished his closing arguments during trial while holding the Winnie the Pooh blanket found with Caylee’s body: “When you have a child, that child becomes your life. This case is about the clash between that responsibility, the expectations that go with it, and the life that Casey Anthony wanted to have-” As he looked at Casey, he held up the bag that Caylee’s body was found in: “That bag is Caylee’s coffin.” In this moment, Casey began crying.

On July 5, 2011 the jury found Casey Anthony not guilty on counts one through three that included first degree murder, aggravated manslaughter of a child, and aggravated child abuse but did find her guilty of providing false information to police. The presiding judge on the case sentenced to Casey to one year in county jail and ordered her to pay $1,000 in fines; She was released on July 17, 2011 after she was credited 1,043 days for time served and good behavior.

After the trial concluded, alternate juror on the case 51-year-old Russel Huekler stepped forward and gave reasoning behind why Casey was found not guilty: “The prosecution didn’t provide the evidence that was there for any of the charges from first-degree murder down to second-degree murder to the child abuse to even the manslaughter charge. It just wasn’t there.” It is also believed that she was found not guilty due to a lack of official cause of death.

Casey is currently in Palm Beach, Florida living with the lead investigator on Casey’s defense team. She gave a recent interview with True Crime Daily; she is now a photographer and an artist; she sleeps with pieces of her artwork next to her bed and claims to live for Caylee. When asked what Caylee would be like today, at age 12, she said “A total bada**! I would like to think she’d be listening to classic rock, and playing sports and not taking **** from anybody.”

Casey now has dreams of becoming a private investigator and claims to use the tactics investigators used against her to try and frame her for Caylee’s murder on those she is investigating. When her parents were interviewed recently, her father stated that he has no desire to have anything to do with her and if she ever attempted to profit off of her story, he would go through with filing a civil lawsuit of wrongful death against his daughter.

The murder of Silje Redergård

Silje Redergård (b. 1989 d. 1994) was beaten and murdered in Norway by two 6-year-old boys in 1994. The case echoes the infamous James Bulger murder where Jon Venables and Robert Thompson brutally abducted and killed 4-year-old James. Children killing children is always difficult to come to terms with, and in 1994 Norway was a nation in shock and mourning.

On October 15th 1994 5-year-old Silje was found naked and dead in the snow at a soccer field in the quiet, small town of Trondheim in Norway. A town with hardly any crime, peaceful and tucked away in the mountains.

Prior to this, Silje had been playing in the snow and making snow castles with two 6-year-old boys who lived next door. They’d played together before, but weren’t very close. At some point the fun stopped, and no one knows just what happened. A childish disagreement, a tantrum? The boys turned on Silje and started mercilessly beating her with stones, punching her and kicking her. They then removed her clothes, and left her to die in the snow.

"We didn't know that anything was wrong until a local boy came by and told us," Silje’s mother Beathe Redergård says. "He was the one who first told us what had happened. He was only eight-years-old, so we didn't know whether he was telling the truth. We went over towards where it had happened and saw a group of police officers. We were stopped and couldn't get to Silje." The police, she says, had cordoned off the area. Beathe Redergård stated -

"They asked us who we were, and then they put us in a police car and drove us to the station. We were interviewed. It looked like the murder could have something to do with sexual abuse because she was undressed, so the suspicion falls on the closest family members. We were at the police station for a long time. Afterwards, we were driven home. It was almost 10pm."

Naturally Silje’s parents and everyone else thought it must’ve been an adult who did this to her. It wasn’t until the following day that the shock of what had really happened to Silje was revealed.

"One of the people who'd tried to resuscitate Silje, we went over to her house to say thanks. We thought we should thank her for trying," says Redergard. ”The woman told us that she'd done so much to try to save Silje. I was sitting with her son on my lap. Then she said it was him and another boy that had done it. "I looked at the boy and asked him, 'What did you do?' He said, 'I jumped on her because I thought she was sleeping.' Then he said he took off her clothes because he thought she was sleeping. When we found out he had done it, we left. It was too difficult. I wanted to throttle him and be done with it. When I realised that I almost wanted to kill him, we left."

The little town soon developed a lynch mob atmosphere and people were desperate to know what could have caused this brutal act of violence.

Beathe Redergard says she "felt bad" for the boys even in the middle of her grief, because they were "just little kids".

"We beat her till she stopped crying," one of the little boys later told the police.

The boys faced no criminal repercussions but were placed in another local school. The caseworker who managed the boys after the incident said, "We don't believe in prison for youngsters, so we think that if we can help them in any other way, that's what we should do."

The two boys saw psychologists, and got a lot of help to move past the incident and realize what they’d done. Not much is known about the boys except that they’ve never been in trouble again, and one of them, the one who sat on Beathe’s lap, continues to struggle daily with his past.

The case worker had this to say about the now adult boy -

"He's self-medicating, using alcohol, pills and amphetamines. Life is too hard, and the drugs let him relax. It helps him deal with the everyday. There's no joy in his life ... He's still a young man, but he has no life. He's literally living in a nightmare."

In the fall of 1996, JonBenet Ramsey started Kindergarten, which she liked to refer to as “real school”, at High Peaks Elementary. She loved school right off the bat, and some mornings she’d run right through the doors, barely sparing a second to wave goodbye to her parents. She enjoyed art and music classes and excelled in Math. By the end of the first semester, she advanced to a first-grade level. John Ramsey often described JonBenet as the spark plug of their family, and the little girl’s enthusiastic spirit followed her wherever she went, including High Peaks Elementary. She was always coming up with new, fun games to play and made sure everyone no one was left out. Her compassionate nature made JonBenet the go-to student to usher her sick classmates to the nurse’s office. She would hold their hand as they walked down the halls, assuring her classmates that everything will be okay. Shortly before her death, the principal gave JonBenet an “I Caught You Being Good!” award after she cut her cupcake snack in half to share with a classmate when they didn’t have enough for everyone to enjoy.

JonBenet’s sudden Christmastime death shook the faculty and students at High Peaks Elementary. In honor of her memory, they planted a tree and placed a bench, on which they engraved her name, underneath it. The name JonBenet did not represent the pageant princess that the country soon would learn through tabloids and television. The JonBenet they mourned for was a sweet Kindergartener girl, who loved swinging on the monkey bars, listening to story time, and painting happy colorful pictures. The mother of one of JonBenet’s classmates spoke with a newspaper and recounted the moment she had to tell her daughter her friend passed away. The little girl sat huddle in her lap and cried, “Mom, she was my best jump-rope friend.”

Rest in Peace, Bianca M. Devins

Bianca’s obituary reads:

“Bianca M. Devins, 17, of Utica, gained her angel wings on Sunday, July 14, 2019. She was welcomed in Heaven by her beloved cat, Belle. She was born on October 2, 2001, in New Hartford, a daughter of Michael and Kimberly Williams Devins. Bianca just recently graduated from Proctor High School on June 28, 2019. She was going to continue her education at MVCC this fall. Bianca was a member of the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes. She was an aspiring model, talented artist and enjoyed playing the ukulele. Bianca also had a great love of animals, especially her cats. Bianca will be remembered by her family and friends for her beautiful smile. Bianca was very caring and compassionate and helped so many friends during their difficult times. Her passion, which she sought to pursue in her future career, was to help adolescents who struggle with mental illness. Deputies Guidelines for Gaurding Ted Bundy

1.) Patrol Car

A. Prior to going on patrol in your vehicle, always check your backseat, underneath the seats, etc., for beverage bottles or any other possible weapons. Two Deputies are to transport Bundy. The driver of the vehicle may have his or her gunside exposed to the prisoner. Therefore, prior to picking him up, reverse your holster to the opposite side.

2.) Initial Contact With the Prisoner

A. It is known that Bundy has had alot of free time in the Garfield library where he possibly could obtain some type of weapon... Search him prior to placing him in your transport vehicle. Use maximum security handcuffs and ankle shackles. He moves only when you tell him to move. Don’t let him deceive you! Place him in the right front seat of the patrol car. The back-up Officer should be located in the left rear seat.

3.) Transporting the Prisoner

A. Be aware of what Bundy is doing at all times. The back-up Officer should keep his eyes on the prisoner at all times. He’s very perceptive; let him know you mean business! In transporting, don’t stop your patrol car between the Garfield County Jail and the P.C.S.O. unless it is necessary in normal traffic flow. In other words, don’t stop at the 7 Eleven, or make any other unnecessary stops. Take away all opportunities for him to escape.

4.) P.C.S.O. and County Courthouse

A. Be sure that at least two Deputies are with Bundy (I know, that’s repetitive). Keep your weapon secure whenever you’re within his reach. It is good to develop the habit of covering your gunside with your elbow and arm, or standing in a position that would make it very difficult for a prisoner to grab your weapon. Don’t permit anyone other than authorized personnel to approach him. The back-up Deputy should also keep an eye on the people in the surrounding area of Bundy. Remember, you’re not only guarding Bundy, you’re also responsible for the surroundings people.

B. If Bundy is in the booking room, remove any potential weapons from his immediate vicinity. Prior to his entering the District Court, check the drawers at the defendants table. Check the chair that he sits in. Be his shadow! Don’t even let him go to the bathroom alone!

Man Kills Mother and Lights House on Fire, claims YouTube Made Him Paranoid

June 19th, 2019 shortly after 3 A.M, Marion County firefighters were dispatched to the home of Angela Limbaugh and her 22 yr old son, Colby Larue. The two story house was completely engulfed in flames and it took nearly an hour for them to contain the fire. After the fire was completely gone, the body of Angela Limbaugh and her dog were discovered. Neighbors across from the lake house claimed that a man sailed from the Larue residence, across the lake, and traipsed through their yard claiming that “he didn’t know where his life went wrong”. The neighbors scared him off but not before identifying him as Colby Larue. Colby Larue then made the almost 5 mile walk through woods to the Ocklawaha Police Department were he turned himself in for the murder of 51 year old Angela Limbaugh, his mom. He claimed that he had been watching YouTube videos that made him paranoid that something would happen to his mom so he took his 9mm pistol and paced the house nervously. Colby’s pacing led to their dog waking and barking which woke up Angela. Upon finding that his mother was awake, Colby shot her twice in the head. He then shot the dog twice as well and lit his mattress on fire with a lighter. Colby Glen Larue is facing charges of first-degree arson and homicide.

Stephen Paddock’s Final Hours

Most people stay at hotels for lavish vacations or to spend time with family. For 64 year old Stephan Paddock, the story is much different. On Monday September 25th, Stephan checked into the Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. He rented Suite 135, a suite on the very corner of the building and the adjoining room. He brought no suitcases the first night, only one small backpack. Stephan spent the next two hours eating at a sushi restaurant in the hotel and playing electronic poker in the casino. Stephan already knew some staff that worked there due to previous visits and every once in awhile stopped to speak to one. At 5 P.M, He drove his Crystler Pacific minivan to the valet parking. The bellman packed five suitcases onto a carry cart and allowed Stephan to follow him onto the service elevator to take his bags to his room. Stephan and his bags disappear into his room for the next four hours, reappearing again at 9:40 that night. Carrying two suitcases with him, he makes the one hour long drive to his home in Mesquite, Nevada. Thanks to cell phone records collected from nearby cell towers, we know that he spent the night and most of the following day here. Around 8 p.m Tuesday night, Paddock returns to Las Vegas. He stops at The Ogden, a condominium complex located downtown. Records show that he had also been renting rooms there for a week, checking in the first time on Friday the 22nd. In the streets surrounding this hotel, a festival named the Life is Beautiful festival was to be held. Paddock’s internet records revealed that he searched for the lineup of that festival as well as the expected attendance. Later Tuesday night, he returns to the Mandalay hotel and a different bellman escorts Paddock and seven more suitcases to his suite. Once in the hotel, he spends the entire night in the casino gambling until morning arrives. He spends most of Wednesday in his room and that evening repeats a similar pattern. Paddock leaves the Mandalay carrying two suitcases, stops at The Ogden, and travels to his home in Mesquite. On Thursday, he purchases a .308 bolt action rifle from a gun store 5 miles from his house. He also visits a shooting range before driving back to the Mandalay. That night, with the help of a bellman, Paddock carries a white container and three additional suitcases to his room. He gambles the night away. It is now Friday, and the Route 91 festival is set to open in the Fairgrounds across from the Mandalay Bay hotel.

Paddock stays in his room until about 3 P.M and then checks into the adjoining room using the name of his girlfriend, Marylou Danley. When cleaning staff come to clean his original room, he instructs them to leave behind the food service cart, this is later used in addition to another to set up a camera surveillance system during his attack. Overnight, he makes a brief trip to Mesquite, arriving back at the Mandalay at 6 A.M with two more suitcases. Soon after noon on Saturday, he places Do Not Disturb signs on both suite doors and goes through valet again, carrying two more suitcases. He gambles some more and that night, makes his last trip to Mesquite. He returns to the Mandalay hotel at 3 A.M Sunday morning and gambles some more before returning to his room at 7:37 A.M. He makes another trip to his car at noon, returning with two more suitcases and a smaller bag. In the last week, he has brought at least 21 suitcases, a white container, two smaller bags, and a laptop case into the hotel. At 8:24 P.M, Paddock locks and deadbolts the door in his original room, Suite 135. Four minutes later, the headliner of the Route 91 festival, Jason Aldean, begins his performance. Paddock locks the door to his adjoining room, Suite 134. He begins his shooting rampage at 10:05. In the next 10 minutes, Stephan Paddock manages to kill 58 people and injuring over 700, before taking his own life.

In his room, police found 23 guns and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition.

No motive has been found since the attack and family and friends share a common thread of disbelief at the attack.
