This is my Sonic Movies/Splatoon crossover brain dump, currently very barebones. Admittedly I am very rusty on the lore, but I saw someone's (I can't find the op pls help) stobotnik splatoon AU and my brain started making connections. I also am totally channelling my inner cringy 13 year old theorist for this, bad English and all, so be warned.
Warning: Spoilers Galore!! \/\/\/
First The Basics:
- Ivo is an inkling working for the octarian regime! He has always despised the petty, trend & fashion obsessed inkling society (hypocrite much?), and his incredible intellect and interest in robotics offered him an easy spot in the science & weapon dev departmnet of the octarians' military. He finds it only slightly more tolerable. (Does he work for Octavio or does Walters exist?? Does Ivo replace Octavio as Leader of octarians and goofy Main Big Bad of the series??? Hell if I know. Seems too sucsessfull for him XP )
- Agent Stone is an 'average' octoling soldier assigned to Ivo as a bodyguard (and to keep watch for suspicious behavior. They can't just trust some random inkling after all...) He later defects the regime to follow Ivo and his attempts at world conquest :)
- the octarian power scarcity issues would prove to be inctedibly annoying, and should a potential new power source present itself... Well. Ivo would definitely feel motivated to investigate. (Now I just need to figure out how to add Sonic to this...)
The events of the first two Movies happen somewhere along Game 1 and 2, but I need Sonic for that...
And then the OCTO-EXPANSION!!! The part I'm most hyped abt because this is basically Movie 3:
- The Professor is obviously Gerald Robotnik!!! I'm not quite sure what to do with him though. There are a couple options:
- Option 1: During the apocalypse Gerald uploads his own consiousness as AI instead of creating Tartar. (But why not Maria? Is she already dead at that point? Did she die before or during the apocalypse, and how???) He waits, watches new species develop, new civillizations emerge, and can't help but despise them for their impulsive, petty, violent, unbearably human natures. After spending thousands of years isolated, wrought with grief and unable to get any revenge or closure from a humanity already destroyed, it is easy for him to latch onto the idea of starting over again. Wipe the board, destroy the world as it is and create a new humanity, a perfect humanity in Maria's image. Of course, there isn't any human DNA around anymore, but he'll make do... And so the stage is set. The plan is in motion. 'Tartar' is born. (Not literally ofc. I doubt he'd have need for a pseudonym)
- Or option 2: Tartar is a separate entity, just as in canon. (Is it? Or is it a failed attempt at saving Maria?) Events progress an in canon untill Ivo gets involved...
- Either way, at some point Ivo finds some information about the Old Civillization and crosses paths with Gerald or Tartar. An opportunity to learn about ancient technology and the potential origin of their entire species directly from the source (I imagine Ivo knows something about the crystals)? Ivo is immediately hooked. And any amount of praise or appreciation from Gerald/Tartar would completely sway him too. Imagine meeting basically god/ancient aliens/somethinglike, the creator of your species who is also the only person who might actually be smarter and more knowledgeable than you, having them COMPLIMENT you and treat you like a peer and maybe give you at least the facade of the parental guidance you never got but always wanted, only for them to then betray you and tell you they like the other guy better anyway ('cause Ivo is an inkling... And Tartar/Gerald thinks octolings are superior... And also Gerald is definitely going to "you're no Maria" him...)
- One thing I think Ivo does pick up though is the Sanitization technology. He could repurpose and expand upon it for his ventures into robotization if we go w that canon//
- Also Sanitized!Stone has crazy angst potential!!
- Judd! Sorry Judd, you're Shadow now. Shadow is created by Gerald Robotnik as the 'Ultimate lifeform by Government demand and to figure out how to cure Maria, same as in sonic canon. He is occasionally lent to the military during the Last War (wait,,, is that,, an actual plausible reason for Shadow to know how to use a gun??), and then just before total annihilation Gerald places him in the cryo chamber, all same as Judd. Shadow wakes up sometime during the main games, whenever I can place Sonic probably.

That's pretty much all I have for now, and before we get into Game 3 there is one question I need to answer:
IS IVO MR. GRIZZ?????
I mean, come on. Eggman. Salmon eggs. Eggman. Salmon e-
Look. It would make things infinitely more complicated. But also 1: It suits him, kind of, and 2: Literally where else would he get the name???
(Well... Maybe something about the octarian-salmonid egg deal? Ivo does need a lot of energy for his robots, and I doubt he'd find a better power source at the octarian base... Tbh I skimmed most of the lore on this, I definitely need a refresher)
