Finished!

I have finished my multimedia piece! It has been tough from the start because I am not very creative but I have completed everything that is necessary for the module. I hope it turns out well! I will be uploading it onto my blog in a few hours.

Final Last Minute Editing

I am in the final stage of the process. I am now looking over my video and making sure it includes all that is required such as, a title page that includes my name and the module. I am cutting and making sure everything fits and ends where it should. This is exciting because it has been a long and stressful journey. My main concert is the changes that have been made to my piece such as, no narration and no video from the boat ride. But it is out of my control and there is nothing that can be done about the cold weather. It will be one thing to include in my academic report and analysis on how to improve and what went wrong.

No Narration

I have made the final decisions to not include the narration into the piece because it was suppose to go with the video recordings from the boat. As that scene will not be in the end product then there is no need for the narration.

Voice Recording or Not?

I am considering taking out the voice recording and just having music in the background from the beginning. This is because I am not happy with the quality of the recording as I was unable to block out all the outside sounds.

No Boat Rides

I was unable to do any recording on the boat due to the fact that they are no longer hosting boat rides until April next year. This is because of the cold weather, making it unsafe for everyone. This has changed the course of my video but I will still have to continue and my piece will be 25 seconds less.

Voice Recording

Voice recording was a lot more challenging than I expected.

I decided it would be best to use my iPhone. This is because it is very easy to use and also very easy to transfer to other devices.

I decided to tape the recording in my bedroom where it would be quiet.

This was very difficult even though the door was closed, windows closed, curtains drawn and television off.

I even had to put a towel under the door to block the little gap between the door and the floor. This was to ensure absolutely no sounds came into the room.

Listening back to the recording I found that there was still sounds in the background from the outside world.

The recording had to be done a lot of times for it to be relatively okay to use.

I am still not completely satisfied with the outcome of the recording but I will have to use it because it was the best I could do.

I will be using my own camera to capture the images for my piece.

I have uploaded a picture of the camera that I will be using.

I used this camera a lot within the last year and I have been very happy with the quality, so I think this will be a good idea to use for my work.

Target Audience

My target audience will be tourists. I chose this because my video is all about showcasing a part of London that is not as popular as the rest. I am to show that there are sites in London where tourists are not taken to as often as the more popular locations. This video will show off one of the hidden locations that makes London the great tourist attraction it is.

Ideas on what to put into the piece

I started to put together my ideas on what to put into my piece of work. I decided that I would have narration for a few seconds in my work. I also decided to put text on the screen at certain points to make it more exciting. However, the main idea was that background noise will be a piece of music. I chose to put the song Superheroes by The Script as the background music because I feel that it will fit well with the piece I am producing. The song is upbeat and that will give a good feel to the video. It will give the viewers a nice feeling while watching the video and give the desired effect of wanting to visit the location when the video ends.

Creating A Multimedia Piece

My current project in second year Journalism is to create a multimedia piece.

My first thought was to create a tourism piece on one of London's attraction that I loved this summer.

As a result, I made the decision to create a piece on Regent's Canal.

This is because I feel that this is one of London's hidden tourist attraction.
