Trouble With A Capital T

To avoid flooding my main blog with cat pictures, I have created this one in anticipation of the adorable kitty antics to come. I also plan on other posting cat related things and DIYs.

Gentle reminder to people who own pets: I know it’s Christmas time so there’s lots of chocolate, mince pies and Christmas cake (usually made with raisins/sultanas) around at this time of year. Please for the love of god keep them out of reach of your dog/cat, they are toxic. Even if they are completely wrapped up as a present under the tree, move them out of reach because dogs/cats can and will tear through wrapping paper and boxes to get to them.

I’ve had at least 10 dogs kept in overnight for fluids and charcoal over the last 2 weeks because they’ve eaten chocolate/mince pies/Christmas cake. We have a little 5 month old puppy in at the moment that won’t get to spend Christmas at home with it’s family because it ate a whole box of chocolates and now has to stay in for 48 hours on IV fluids.

So I don’t care if you think “oh it’s wrapped up, my pet won’t be able to open it”, think again because accidents can and do happen. And especially if it happens out of hours or over the Christmas period, it can be an even more expensive accident than usual.

I’d also like to add that if you’re buying toys or other gifts that require batteries, keep the batteries out of reach too. I really don’t want to have to do emergency surgery on your dog at 10pm Christmas night because your dog managed to swallow one and now we have to fish it out of its stomach

Boosting! Keep your food high above pet level and your small bits and bobs contained. Same goes for ribbons and bows off your packages - even if it’s cute to let the pets play with them, they’re an ingestion risk that could cause a deadly impaction. Happy pets are safe pets during the holidays.

It’s best to have someone do this for you while you stand up and relax your muscles as best you can, but if you’re alone, a tennis ball and a flat surface will probably work. Alternatively you can lie on the edge of a bed at the pressure point. (But no really do try to find someone to do it for you)

Find the area in your spine between either the first, second, third, or fourth vertebrae. It should be sore and uncomfortable to press down on, so look for the one that’s most painful, and press down with as much pressure as you can on that area for 30 seconds.

Realize that 80% of your pain has magically disappeared and keep the info secret if you live in a small puritan town, lest you be tried for witchcraft.

If you don’t have to worry about being burned or hanged, then share the info with your migraine suffering friends.

As someone who wrote a 10k word paper on pressure points for a high belt ranking test in her martial arts class, I can tell you that you just found a pressure point used in acupressure and acupuncture to relieve pain, particularly that in the head. :)

As a medical massage therapist, I thought I would give my two cents.

This is good for tension migranes and normal migraines, but actually pretty useless for sinus migraines. It’ll help for a hot second, but quickly come back. (These are usually the migraines behind your eyes, in your ears, and behind your forehead. Sometimes it can feel like jaw pain or TMJ) for sinus migraines, behind the ear in a divot. Press down firmly and pull towards your collarbone. That’ll drain your sinuses. Also, pressing around the eye socket on the cheekbones help. There is also a little triangle up away from the eye in the eyebrow bone. Press and hold pretty hard and that’ll relieve that behind the forehead pain. Also, ear pulling is great to help move sinuses around.

Don’t forget the temples too! Press firmly and hold. Open and close your jaw while holding your temples. It’ll feel weird, but it’ll help with jaw pain. It’ll work a similar way if you hold the jaw joint under your cheekbone.

And never underestimate the power of a foot massage!! Give minutes can be all the difference!! Our feet are our base. If they hurt even a little, somewhere else in your body will hurt. Treat your feet and sinuses kindly!

So the cop lost his temper and started beating up this kids mom. The kid intervened and the cop pinned him to the ground. While he was already pinned to the ground and not fighting, the cop shot him point blank. And the jury ruled that a reasonable use of lethal force. Am I reading this right? Who are these bootlicking pieces of shit they keep getting for these juries?

While taking a break/procrastinating packing for college I stress crafted a little house for T. I took an old foldable storage ottoman from Walmart, flipped it on its side and put her cushion in it. I then made curtains from some fabric I had, a dowel and hot glue, putting the top of the ottoman on to hold them in place.

I think it turned out pretty well and makes an easily portable hide away for her to have at college with me. Plus, if I stack it on the other one I have it will give her something tall to scratch and climb.
