Update;

She expected maybe 5-10 people to show up. There were about 100.

I gave out scotch eggs to commemorate the occasion.

She gave a beautiful speech, was blindfolded, then kicked REAL good. Crumpled. Gave us a thumbs up.

Speaking for myself, the part of the Pluribus finale that made me absolutely foam at the mouth was Manousos trying to reverse the joining. Before he did it, he warned the hive. He asked the hive what the name was of the person he was trying to un-plurb. He sat by him and put his face near Rick's face and told Rick, tenderly, to please come back.

This hit me like a ton of bricks for a few reasons. One, we've seen Manousos's conviction in spades, but we've never seen him show care for another person. That moment showed that Manousos doesn't just abstractly care about saving the world. He sees the person in front of him, Rick, and wants to save him. It also hit me hard because the rest of the episode made it clear that Carol had, at least temporarily, lost this ability to look at the hive and see the real Zosia who had been stolen away from her life just like Bri the waitress was stolen from her life.

Manousos is not a mere zealot. He cares about other people and he wants something better for them than this.

i might have already talked about this before but it’s actually crazy that jogging gets treated as a default ‘getting into shape for the first time’ exercise ESPECIALLY if someone’s goal involves weight loss. people who are more than ~200lbs often need special gear and running techniques to avoid shin splints etc *even if all that weight is solid muscle*, and the likelihood of injury only goes up as strength to weight ratio decreases. someone who’s both heavy AND untrained is just going to be miserable for however long it takes their bones and connective tissue to adapt to the sudden increase in demand. usually this takes months, but it can take even longer under adverse conditions like, say, suddenly eating way less than normal. and all this for an activity that literally isn’t even fun unless you are a specific type of insane. there are so many low impact and actually enjoyable forms of cardio why are we slapshotting biomechanically disadvantaged novices into the david goggins torment dimension
