Rinzin Tsai

Rinzin ‘Rin’ Tsai has been a rebel sympathizer since childhood, though it wasn’t until she was 17 that she joined forces with them. To do this, she was forced to cut ties with her family, in fear that they might be punished if she were ever caught.

 For six years, Rin has assisted the rebel cause in Fairport, the past three in the dangerous position as a recruiter. Rin’s outgoing personality and skill with persuasion make her highly skilled at her job, and she enjoys the work despite the overlying fear of being caught. One of her targets to recruit is Jeanette Marlow, and despite pestering her for months, Rin fears she’s made little progress.

Jeanette Marlow

Marlow is the main character of a story I’m currently working on. Though set in the same world as Jailbird, Marlow lived a couple centuries before in a small city called Fairport. She’s very much a survivalist, having lost her family at a young age and being forced to learn to fend for herself. 

Though harboring a deep hatred for the rebellion forming in Fairport, when disaster strikes, Marlow finds that she cannot avoid joining forces with them to protect Fairport from the corruption of the militia.

A Leone Wolf named Rafe.

Leone wolves (lion wolves) are so named due to the large mane on the neck of the males. They are also larger than the average wolf, some of the larger leone wolves reaching 3-3.5 ft tall and 5.4 ft long.

Leone wolves are seen as intelligent beasts, for they have a higher capacity to understand human speech than any other known animal, second only to griffins. Due to this, many attempts have been made to domesticate the leone wolf. There were so many records of attacks made against Ardains trying to capture the wolves that the government was forced to make owning leone wolves illegal. 

Rafe was abandoned as a pup, due to his being a runt, and he was found by Gilen Mendoza, an animal trainer. Gilen cared for the pup until Rafe matured, at which point he was set free into the nearby forest. Rafe is highly attached to Gilen, and visits his ranch a few times a year.

I’m deleting a lot of the descriptions of my old art because the story I’ve been working on has been overhauled a lot, and a lot of it just isn’t accurate anymore, plus I’ve set the storyline aside for a bit while I work on other things. I’ll still keep the art up as a thing for me to cringe at, though.

It’s been a while since I’ve been active on here, but I’m hoping to start cleaning up more of my sketches and posting them up so that I can redeem the awful art I see looking at older posts. 

Laurifolia, or Lauri for short, is a nymph (a dryad of an oak tree, to be specific). All nymphs are tied to their life source, whether that be a tree that a single dryad inhabits or a river with multiple naiads. Though they can travel away from their life source, spending too much time away leads to feeling weakened and, in extreme cases, can even be fatal. Due to this, most nymphs stay within a kilometer of their life source throughout the majority of their lives. 

Nymphs are often peaceful creatures, but they can grow dangerously aggressive when their life source is in danger. Though nymphs are intangible and can only make direct contact with their life source, they often find ways to fight off threats, such as by throwing pinecones or using branches as a weapon, or attempting to lure threats to the water of their river so that they might drown their enemies. All of this is seen as justified by nymphs in order to protect the life source, because they die only when their life source does.

Keegan Quillan is one of the cynocephali living in Ibandión, the rebel city in the mountains.

Cynocephali are anthropomorphic canines widely known for their intelligence. They have a wide variety of markings, most based on those of wolves or wild dogs. The species tends to live slightly longer than humans, maturing a few years after humans do. The intelligence of the cynocephali lead them to often becoming scholars, and those in the middle and lower classes typically excel in their career path. Though cynocephali did not originate in Ardaigh, some have found themselves settling there, and there is a decent sized population of the species across the country. Keegan Quillan was an infant when he was left on the steps of a monastery. The monks took him in and raised him. When he grew up and matured, he too turned to monk hood. Over the years, Keegan grew to become a teacher to the younger pupils of the monastery. This sparked his love for teaching and education. His pupils sometimes have him a rough time, but he coped. Around the time of the Coup of 1640, Keegan left the monastery. He abhorred the tyrants in charge of the government and called for a freedom of speech and press. However, the government continued to send bounty hunters out to prey on those who spoke out. While wandering through the mountains, trying to find a good place to hide a rebellion, Keegan stumbled upon Ibandión, a rebel city. The people accepted him as a teacher, and Keegan would teach the children of many of the rebels. However, it was difficult making such young children listen. It wasn't until a young man named Delroy Abernathy joined the Isolates that Keegan had a student fully invested in what he had to say.
