Clever.” Charlus laughed loudly at Terra’s comment about James and Albus. “Well, I can’t disagree with that, I suppose.” He replied glancing at them, a fierce blush bloomed on his face when the Ravenclaw gestured toward themself. Then he shook firmly his head and jokingly added. “Oh no, I don’t want to mess with you and I can’t accept your challenge, I might be off the team, but I still need my arm.”

Terra smirked, shrugged and tilted their head in a way that said ‘i know, i’m brilliant’. They shook their head “Wimping out Nott? Can’t handle me? Am i too much for you? and wait, You’re off the team!?” they asked shocked, “Explain” they demanded.

Birthday!

“Hey, I was an almost Hufflepuff. Wait, was yours a compliment or an insult?” Charlus laughed softly as he replied to them, his tone playful. Still chuckling, shaking his head at Terra’s comment about the Gryffindor Quidditch team, he joked back “I don’t know, James and Albus are quite competent as beaters, they have that brothers bond thing going on. What do you have to offer?”

Terra laughed and shrugged “i have no idea being honest.” They raised their eyebrow and put a hand on their hip, They scoffed when he finished “what do I have to offer? and i think that that is the first time i have heard the names James and Albus in the same sentence as the word ‘competent’, without being separated by ‘not’. But back to the most important thing, me, i have this” they said gesturing down to themself. “Plus I’m strong AF, so don’t mess, in fact, i’d be willing to wager on an arm wrestle between us, what’d you say?” They were strong, but they also had impeccable arm wrestling technique.

“Are you trying to make me hungry?” Aidan said, jokingly, though all this thought of food was affecting him. “You are making me hungry,” he corrected himself, and now he wanted a chip butty with gravy. “I’ll have to find out who do I have to bribe for one of those here.” His lips curled into a smile but it soon became a grin as they mentioned their jamming session. “Cool,” he said, too excited at the idea to come up with something better to reply with. He was both nervous and excited. It felt good to talk with Terra. He chuckled, “Good. I do like you the way you are.” And it was true. “Plus, politics sounds kinda boring.”

The hug was proof of that. They pulled back and he pulled back too, still looking a bit awkward but comfortable with them. At the joking threat, Aidan was quick to react with almost a military salute meant both jokingly and seriously. “I won’t. To be honest, I’m terrible at picking favourites too. Most of them change almost every day.”

Terra smirked “of course not, that always means less food for me, but i don’t mind sharing with you i suppose” they said smirking. just go down to the Kitchens and ask for one, the house elfs love it, especially when you’re polite to them.” they said helpfully. They smiled at his excitement. They flashed him dangerous, but joking eyes “you had better like me how i am” They said, another joking threat.

Terra burst out laughing at his salute “yeah, i have less attention than a... oooh is that a knut?” they said a little vacantly, before pointing their wand “accio knut”. The coin flew across the hallway and landed in the palm of an outstretched hand. “but yeah, seriously, i’m the same” they said smirking.

Rose laughed a bit as Terra got starstruck over her parents. Not that Rose could blame them- everyone knew what the Great Harry Potter and the equally Great Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley had done. Everyone knew about the Battle at Hogwarts and what it cost her family and everyone was always a little starstruck by her parents. Everyone except people who actually knew them. Professor Neville was thankfully one of few who saw her parents as just people he’d gone to school with- though tales of his badassery were also passed along in hushed whispers. Rose loved making the tales of his heroics more lavish than they were- anything to avoid having to talk about her own parents. Plus she always looked up to Uncle Neville having been in the shadow of her parents and Uncle and coming out just as big of a damn hero as the rest of them.

“I’ll take that as a no.” Rose laughed as Terra faltered. “It’s okay though if you ever want to stop by and just meet my parents you can. Dad loves having fresh ears to listen to his stories.” She grinned before shaking her head. “Flattery is what I do best, don’t you know that?”

Terra composed themself, “naah, i’m sure i’d be fine lying to my childhood hero, so that her daughter could go out for a few tabs. Hell, i wouldn’t even mind going out for a few with you.” They said with their usual arrogance, they probably would be able to lie, They’d just have to pretend to only be nervous because they were meeting their childhood hero. Terra raised their eyebrows “oh is it? Well, i might have to keep you around, I mean, this ego doesn’t stoke itself” They said chuckling.

“Thank you, it was my mother’s.” Teddy chuckled at Terra’s attempts to flirt with him. “It was quite a good hint, yes.” He shook his head at the offer, noticing how much he enjoyed how it felt like to feel his long hair brushing over his ears and neck. “I’m fine, thank you. I’m just stopping by to give you your present and wish you good luck for the upcoming year.”

Terra’s eyebrows creased, trying to work out if they were being brushed off or not, but let is slide either way and just chuckled along with Teddy. Oooh, a present? but we’ve only just met?” they asked, more confused than anything else.

Harrison remembered those slightly awkward moments outside Terra’s room while he heard her buzzing around it like a bee on speed. Mostly, however, he was just glad she cared enough to do that. The thought of seeing her underwear…made him want to blush. Even now. But he just laughed. “You’ve seen my room. It’s terrible. But I always throw my clothes in the closet before friends come over.” Not that he had many people coming over anyways. “You just have to find the perfect hiding place for it all. Works all the time. Mum never looks in my closet!”

Terra chuckled, “Bran’s is much worse, he refuses to tidy his room, and he just sits there and plays muggle video games, granted I got him into them, but still. I don’t think anyone has seen his floor in at least three years.” They said, their little brother was a first year, and only twelve, so it could almost be excused. “Oh i just use the hamper i have in my wardrobe”. Terra had a very nicely sized walk in wardrobe, one that was the size of a small bedroom, but still managed to be constantly full of clothes.

Charlus chuckled along with Terra. “And yet you are a Ravenclaw. The Hat should never be wrong.” he said, his tone half-joking and half-serious, and then, with the same tone, he pointed out. “Hufflepuff can be quite aggressive too.” He nodded slightly his head. “You are lucky you were not sorted in Gryffindor, though, you would have never made the team.” he playfully teased them, an intense blush filling his cheeks.

Terra rolled their eyes “should being the keyword in that sentence”. They said, they were just as smart as any other ravenclaw, but it was offset by Terra having the attention span of a three year old, although they could do things that they cared about for a while. They inevitably got bored, and so going was often very slow, as they swapped between projects. “Hufflepuff are a bunch of softies, so i’d love it there. And you wish, I’d make it as a beater in Gryffindor” they said smirking, and teasing him back.

“I said I know him, not that I care.” Charlus joked, chuckling as he spoke. He was interested in Muggle culture, he was even taking Muggle Studies against his parents’ will. He blushed a little more in response to Terra’s words, and timidly shrugged, he had done nothing special, just remembered something they had said. And then, shaking his head, in a joking tone he commented. “You definitely are not a Slytherin. They wouldn’t care about silly things like being unsportsmanlike.”

Terra chuckled “well i take back everything good i ever said about you then” they said jokingly. They shook their head “nah, it’s mostly that i like to know that i can win without cheating, i get the satisfaction of being better than everyone else, i still think i should be either slytherin or gryffindor, no way should i be a Ravenclaw, and to be honest i’m too aggressive to be a hufflepuff” they said honestly.

“Then that’s the main problem.” Scorpius countered, still annoyed and quiet. No wonder that sides had formed, if those closer to the Weasleys and Potters had heard about this first. This was outrageous, really, he wondered why he was still calm. Habit, probably. “And it’s not about knowing who is in so cut your tongue or shut up, please. I don’t care, I don’t want to join this group of murders, but the mere fact that one needs to know about this group to even start searching for ways to get in, that’s simply wrong. And if you can’t see that then you’re just as much of a horrible person as they are. If they don’t understand what matters during war times, then they shouldn’t participate. It only makes everything worse.”

Terra rolled their eyes, getting steadily more frustrated at Scorpius, sarcasm only kept frustration in check for so long before it bubbled over to anger. "you have to know about something to join it, it’s a simple principle of nature, you make no sense, fair enough, they should have made themselves more widely known before now, but think about how dangerous it is to be known as a member of the DA, both from school and the, i don’t know? maybe the death eaters? as if being expelled isnt enough, but being marked for death by a powerful murderous organisation is enough motivation for most people to lay low, not that you’d know” they said bitterly. Terra’s face darkened “you want to know what’s important in war? surviving, winning, regardless of the consequences, They’re a bunch of kids, fighting for their families, don’t insult them or call them murderers, when you clearly know nothing about what it means” Terra had slipped into the teacher voice that they had inherited from their mother, a tone that demonstrated that they knew exactly what they were talking about, and had no intention of conceding, combined with the look they were giving Scorpius, it made Terra look very intimidating.

“I’m not a good cook either…but I didn’t know it was even possible to burn soup so…I think you win that award.” Harrison said, laughing rather loudly. “I’ve always wanted a sibling. I think I’d be okay with them messing up my room because of it.” He smiled. “Although I’m not sure what they could do to make it messier. Mum always says I live like a pack rat.”

Terra chuckled “to be fair i was ill, and distracted, but still, it counts, just the whole bottom of the pan was covered in blackened soup, Mum would have killed me if i hadn't scourgifyed it”. Terra chuckled “oh i don’t really mind, it’s just really irritating when it happens every night, although we both love reading together, i read her some pretty cool muggle story about a witch with a broom, at Christmas. the only reason my room is tidy is because i use magic to clean it up a few times a weekto be fair, so i don’t blame you, anyway you know that, from when you’ve been over i have to leave you outside my room so i can check that there is no underwear on the floor”

“I know Shakespeare.” Charlus nodded. His knowledge of the subject wasn’t particularly vast, but he had read something of him. Then he nodded with a little more confidence, of course he had read some work of the greats authors of the wizarding literature. Everyone did. “I get it. Studying literature.” Like Scorpius? Interesting. The thought brought a small smile on his lips. “Of course I remember. Why shouldn’t I?” And then his smile grew at Terra’s answer about rowing; after a short moment of pause, he chuckled and commented. “Unless you use magic on the judges too.”

Terra smiled “oh good, its really nice to see a pureblood that cares about muggle culture.” They said happily, they had never been particularly accepting of purebloods, mostly because of death eaters. However this made the compliment all the more meaningful coming from Terra. Even if the wording had been a little insensitive. “yeah, it’s my passion, or one of them anyway” they said smiling. “I don’t know, i think i only mentioned it in passing, but it’s nice that you remember" they said, genuinely touched that he remembered. “That would be unsportsmanlike and would make for an unsatisfying win” they said honestly, shaking their head in mock disappointment.

“This is Lumos and I’m your host-slash-DJ, Aidan Higgs” he greets with his usual chirpy tone when opening, “For those of you that are listening in for the first time this is Hogwarts’ radio show full of great music, and only great music. And today it’s a special day. Someone else is here with me to co-host and it’s no other than..” There is the sound of hands rhythmically hitting a surface, much like a drum roll. “.. the one and only, Terra Zeller.” His voice sounds sincerely enthusiastic as he presents them.

“Hello everyone, it’s very good to be here, thanks for having me,” they say in their husky Cambridgeshire accent.

“It’s a pleasure,” Aidan replies, with sincerity and one can almost hear a smile in the way his voice sounds. “And the sight has improved since my last co-host. No offence, Fred.” There is a low rustling sound of papers moved around. “Speaking of our second-older Weasley. Terra is here, much like Fred was, to talk about a project close to their heart. Some of you may have already read about it in the Hogwarts Gazette.. but I’ll let Terra explain what is about and why it’s so important for them and many other students here at Hogwarts.”

“Well, as I’m sure some of you know Teddy and I have been asking for signatures on a piece of paper, those signatures are for a petition to the headmaster to create a third dormitory in each house, one for students who do not identify as either male or female, such as myself.” Terra pauses for a moment and says something inaudible to Aidan. “We need at least half of the student body to sign it before we present it to the headmaster, and we’re going for the final push, we’re nearly there. We believe that a third dorm would help younger students figure out their identity, and we need to show support to the people who are too worried about what their peers think to come out, and while the change won’t affect us, we hope it can help the generations of students behind us.”

There is a brief pause for Terra’s words to sink in. “Heard that people? Join Terra, Teddy and all the others who already signed the petition. This is a way to both help our fellow students and to leave our mark in Hogwarts history.” His voice is steady, enthusiastic. “Where do people can come to sign the petition? Is there more they can do?” He asks them, leaving once more to them to talk and explain.

“Come find me or Teddy, and, I think there are sheets up in all the dorms, we’re both easy to find, or if you can’t find us, send us an owl, or speak to your head of house, I’m sure they will help you to find us. Same goes if you would like more information or even advice. We’re here to help!” They say, their voice full of the passion they feel towards the project. “And if you want to do more to help, we’re open to ideas to get the third dorms in, and help any students who need help, even if it’s an ear to listen or advice, you can come speak to us, I promise we don’t bite”.

“Unless someone shows up as a doughnut, I would guess,” Aidan jokes. “So, listeners, you heard them, and I hope you’ll help spread the word through the school. I thank Terra for being with me, today, and I’ll leave to them to announce our next song.”

Terra chuckles, “Thank you Aidan for having me, we have a fairly old muggle song by the name of ‘Little Game’ by Benny up next, so enjoy!” They say happily.

Rose laughed a bit as she considered what Terra was saying. If she said that she were trying to impress someone else she knew her parents- and brother -would get too invested for that to work. “If I were to use you as my beard to smoke you’d have to meet my parents. Are you sure you’re ready to be introduced to the great Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley?” She teased them.

“Well I am never telling you when my birthday is then.” She grinned shaking her head a bit. “You’re terrible you are. Do you know that?” She laughed before nodding. “Most friends usually are.”

Terra’s eyes widened at the mention of Rose’s parent’s “Her- Hermione? and Ron?” they had known that Rose was related, but had never even considered that Rose had two thirds of the golden trio for parents. Hermione had been a big inspiration for Terra as a child, and Terra didn’t quite know what to do with the information. “Erm, maybe?” They said, not at all sure that they could lie to their childhood hero.

"Gosh darn it, foiled again” They said chuckling. “I know, I know, don’t flatter me too much though” they said, patting their hair into place.

It was the Slytherin in him that made Aidan so proud that Terra would keep him in mind for a second opinion and in case they needed to be healed. It made him also so eager to deserve this level of trust. He almost wished he could do what they asked. He chuckled alongside them. “Yes, it’s called bacon if you do like bacon. Or doughnuts.” Remembering sharing those. When Terra offered help with Transfiguration his face lit up, hopefully. He felt a bit embarrassed to ask but. “Actually.. I’m not the best exactly at the practical part of Transfiguration..” Though, some days he had a difficulty to wrap his head around the theory too. “So, I may hit you up on that.” Then he laughed. He was good at bullshitting too, as they put it. “Please, don’t become a politician, though. That requires bullshitting, patience and I heard some arselicking.. which doesn’t sound all that nice.” He shook his head.

Aidan was left speechless. He didn’t know what to say. He was always so terrible to react when someone said nice things about him. So he hugged Terra, let himself relax in the embrace, and hoped somehow they would understand how important this was for him. Words, Aidan, he thought, you need to use words. “Thank you,” he blurted out, because he was always so clumsy with words, but he meant it. He smiled at their honesty. “I hope never to prove you wrong on that.” And he meant that too. “But let me know if there is one you liked more, or less. I’ll try to pick something better next time.”

Terra chuckled, “sounds like i need another monumental cheat day, bacon on pizza, and sausage, and a chip and gravy butty” They moaned at the thought of all that delicious food. “I mean plain chip butties are good, buy my Grandad is a geordie, and he puts gravy with everything, and it makes everything savoury better, no word of a lie” they said, having a bit of a mental breakdown at all of the food they were imagining.” Terra smiled “well, i’ll check up with you on that, whenever we have a jamming session” they said smirking.” they said remembering the conversation they had had. they chuckled “I’m not licking any arses, or being patient, so i think you’re safe there” they said with a wink.

Terra kept hugging him, and chuckled when he thanked them, “no, thank you”. they pulled back “you had better not” they threatened jokingly, “but i’ll definitely let you know my favorites, although don’t blame me if i can’t decide” they said smirking.

It was a nice hug, even if much briefer than Teddy would’ve liked it. He let go feeling still far too un-hugged. “I usually go by the name of Dora.” he said, phrasing it to make it no lie. He would tell Terra, he promised himself, just not with people around, not with a chance of hearing them them shouting ‘oh my gosh, Teddy!’ and letting everyone know. “And you’re Terra Zeller, I know that much. Happy Birthday.”
