introducing: a magazine official site
hello !! my name’s gracie and recently i’ve been really really wanting an outlet to express myself (specifically my thoughts & opinions because boy i have a whole lot). there’s really not anything like that on the internet, especially for 15 year olds (fetuses) like me, so i was like ‘screw it! i’m making my own.’
the official ‘mission statement’ (lmao i got so carried away) is : mood of the lost art of sending mail chronicled through series of short stories
it’s a shitty mission statement,,, i’m working on it.
the idea behind it is reminiscent of ‘the messy heads’ or ‘rookie mag’. there’s also staff, kind of like @theacademiczine but it’s not so much a blog; instead, it’s kind of like a collection of articles. every month or two, there’s a theme that the articles are written under. june & july’s theme is summer, which is not anything special, but idk man there’s so much to write about summer, u know?
articles are anything they want to be !! i understand the restrictions there are when creating something so really, there’s no limit. it can be a photo series, art, a story, a poem, a playlist, a cohesive rant, a piece structured like an actual newspaper article, whatever. of course there are going to be rules set in place, but almost anything is welcome.
i made a pretty rad website using wix.com !!! it took me Forever, but ya’ll i am so committed to this idea. i can’t afford to buy a domain, so it’s going to have the really unappealing brand at the end but one day maybe ?? i also have an instagram account and i plan on changing this blog to that url because it’s art hoe af.
ahh cool how can i sign up !!
i need some people to help me out in the beginning. maybe only 6-10 ?? i don’t want it to be this huge thing and then have it become something that doesn’t work out and everyone loses interest. tbh that would break my heart lmao.
but here are some positions & their requirements !!
also, if you do apply, please make sure to reblog this post. i know that sucks but this’ll probably only have two notes if i don’t ask for that.
writer: be able to dedicate enough time to write at least one article each month. have ideas that pertain to the theme. have opinions !! lots n lots of them !! or just love writing a lot. that’s good also. apply here.
photographer / artist: any creator using any media. your position here is just as valuable as the writer, and often times, you will be paired with a writer. be able to work with other people maybe ? that would help a lot. expect to be contacted sporadically for articles and design elements with for the site. also be able to create according to the theme. apply here.
editor: have the patience to fix grammar mistakes and reword sentences without destroying the writer’s voice. you will be assigned to a writer just so you can get to know them well, and understand their style. occasionally you will be asked to read through random articles. dedicate enough time for two articles each month. apply here.
lead designer: you will be working with me a lot on the website. if you don’t know how to use wix, don’t worry because i’m a noob and i actually figured it out. be able to use photoshop or illustrator because you’ll be expected to edit pictures and have tasks such as designing the logo. apply here.
contributors: if you don’t have the time but you do want to do something such as write an article or submit art, you will be able to do that once we settle in !! look forward to that !
idk man there’s not really anything to know. as long as you’re willing to commit the time and you genuinely care about creative expression rather than popularity (as i’m not sure if anyone will actually read anything that’s being published) then i’m cool !!
all positions will be chosen by july 3rd, where you will be messaged through tumblr or email, and later added to a group chat.
