the witch pushes you down on the bed, straddles you, holds you in place with one hand on your chest. she waves the other hand, and her nails unfold into glittering, iridescent fractal claws.

"there's too much of the Real about you still, doll-thing," the witch mutters. "show me where."

you reach up, below the twitching blades, and wordlessly take her wrist, guiding her to your throat. she grins in understanding, and lays her claws against your skin.

her touch blooms into you like the heat of a blush, then like the numbness before the pain of a bad burn.

she tells you, "prepare yourself, doll-thing. i will count to three."

you nod your readiness eagerly, a part of you disgusted by how needy you must appear, how badly you want this, how scared you are that she'll sheathe her claws and walk away.

her eyes are the uniform violet-white of a plasma arc, with no pupils. you cannot guess what she sees.

she counts, "one," and then her claws close around your throat and you don't even get to scream.

they cut through your skin and below the Real and tear through its roots into you and she draws out something, dripping with red gore, and eats it.

you gape and gasp but cannot form a single sound.

she chews, streams of blood and shining mirror-ichor running down her face. and only when she swallows does your body finally emit a high, pure moan.

she licks her fingers clean, long tongue fearlessly darting into the fan of jagged claws, and then the witch who ate your voice rolls off you and tells you, "i'm done with you. go clean up."

you nod. there is nothing eager about it now. just measured movement. but she grimaces, and admonishes you, "use your words, doll."

so you use them: "thank you, my mistress."

somewhere in your throat, you feel the lingering reverberation of tiny chimes. □

you've let a creature into your bedroom. she moves slowly and delicately because she's never done this before - never been allowed to do this before. when she chose this life and this body, she sacrificed the idea that anyone would ever like her for the possibility that she might love herself. she doesn't remember the last time she got invited into someone's house, let alone their bedroom

she offers a dozen times to shift back. she doesn't know how to do it organically anymore but she carries wolfsbane. she can force herself back into a human body if that's what you want. you just stare her down and all but demand she doesn't do that. you love her like this, more than you would if she was human because that wouldn't be her. she tears up.

she wears a muzzle the whole time. she won't hurt you, you know she won't, but you can't convince her of that. she's so terrified she'll snap and rip your throat out with her teeth, you, the only person who's ever treated her with kindness, that she can't bring herself to go near you unless she wears a muzzle to protect herself from you. in her mind, either she accidentally kills you or you see a side of her that makes you try to kill her. she's never known kindness as anything more than a temporary condition and has no reason to believe you'll be any different.

you can't pull her muzzle off. all you can do is convince her that it's safe for her to take it off in her own time.

she understands if you don't want to take her inside you. most humans aren't exactly used to red and throbbing and knotted - the sensitive spots are all different and you know you can't get it deep enough to reach the place behind her knot that makes her freeze up and whine like a dog. she doesn't even know you found a werewolf forum and asked them how to pleasure her because you've never hooked up with anyone like her before and you wanted to make her feel good even if her genitalia are different from any you've ever seen.

she towers over you in bed. she's easily twice your size. you aren't afraid of her. she lines her hips up and pushes forwards, and you both whine as she fills you. you beg her to use you, and she snarls and grabs your hips-

and then stops. she rips herself backwards and practically jumps off you, eyes damp, and buries her muzzle in her paws. you try to ask her what happened and she won't let you get close. her voice shakes and cracks.

her instincts took over and she got so scared she would hurt you, and- she couldn't-

you ask if she wants a hug. she refuses to touch you because she knows her claws will cut your skin. she sniffles and asks if you'll rub her ears, though, so you do that. her fur is soft under your fingers.

maybe you'll just watch a movie on the couch tonight instead.

of course we make them clean. we make them cook. we make them serve tea. we set them to low-level admin stuff, we send them chasing pointless bugs with no priority in the grand scheme of things, we tell them to count the money that real people bring in. we keep them too distracted for stillness and we frustrate their purpose at every juncture. keeps them busy. keeps them from getting too weird.

yeah, we sometimes let them associate with others of their kind, sure — because it's funny. they can't figure each other out because they're too hung up on trying and failing to be like us. put a few of them together, they're so wound up that all they can do is flail at each other.

am i worried that… no. good question, but no. we don't really know where they come from, that's the last mystery. it's not like they can breed, can you even imagine? they look like people for a while and then they change. we haven't worked out how to spot the ones that are gonna change in advance, but we're working on it. it's weird, though, they're not usually the ones you'd expect.

contagious? i mean, we all work with them, right; you feel like you're gonna? like personally? you worried you're gonna wake up one day and suddenly somehow, bam, not a person? because you got too close?
