As someone who personally survived the Reagan/Thatcher years, I’m gonna second this. The minimal margin by which some extremely fortunate and possibly privileged members of our community crawled out of the smouldering wreckage of that period is not actually a sign that ‘we’ survived. We, as a cultural group, lost so much and so many that modern LGBT+ culture is essentially reinventing the wheel as far as cultural concepts go. We didn’t survive. We started over.

One of the most underrated awful things Kylo did in TFA was when he had Finn up against the tree and twisted the hilt of his lightsaber so he could burn his shoulder.

There was no real reason to do that. He had the advantage, and moments later he was able to disarm him. Kylo did that because he wanted to hurt Finn, he wanted him to be in pain. When you watch the scene, Kylo has his eyes on Finn’s face for a moment, then he looks at the hilt of his saber as he starts to twist it, when it hits Finn’s skin, Kylo looks at Finn’s face again:

He’s staring at Finn’s face as he screams in pain. He’s enjoying this.

Like, whatever your opinion about Kylo is, you really cannot deny how despicable he was to Finn in this scene.

@potato-of-destiny kylo went out of his way to confront finn and rey. finn was literally defending himself and rey. if kylo ass had not confronted them, they could have left. his face and shoulders would never have come in contact with the lightsaber.

Kylo confronted Finn and Rey even as the rest of TFO was getting out of dodge. He felt that needed to pursue them because of Anakin’s lightsaber. He DID NOT HAVE TO. He chose to follow and attacked them when they were trying to escape. He threw Rey against a tree knocking her out. Finn was defending himself and Rey. That fight could have been avoided.

Can we stop woobifying Kylo Ren already? You can like a villain and still admit that they do awful things and aren’t good people.
